Rate this book
Key MBA Models is a one-stop-shop for all business course students and practicing managers. It contains the core management models from each business discipline – from Strategy and Finance to Marketing and Accounting – and distils them into concise summaries of what they are and how to apply them. Written by London Business School Professor Julian Birkinshaw, it covers the essential models that all business students and managers need to know. Themed around the course modules on an MBA, the 60+ models fall into the following Strategy Business Economics Finance Decision Science Accounting Operations Marketing Organisational Behaviour The term ‘model’ is used loosely – in some cases it might be a framework (The 4 Ps of Marketing, Porter’s Five Forces), in some cases it might be an important concept (open innovation or customer orientation), and in some cases it might be a technical model (the Capital Asset Pricing Model). In the book description it says, "Effectively apply academic management models to your professional life" and this book does just that. The book is broken down into 7 parts (Organisational Behaviour, Marketing, Strategy and Organisation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Finance, Operations). I feel like Dr Birkinshaw gave an excellent overview of some of the concepts and theories in MBA programmes. On top of that he finishes each section with top practical tips and top pitfalls . This book is for ivory tower business people This book is accessible and worth a read, even if you aren't in management or business.

The book give an overall brief to the most known courses of MBAs worldwide, especially from Harvard Business School and London Business School in which the author teach.
The author made a brilliant resume of 7 modules detailed in 62 models as introduction and to have an idea to where to go in details by many references in end of each chapter.
Every manager MUST read it and utilise it as a self introduction to MBA framework then can go in details in specified models or enrol in an MBA course.

Good quick recap of the topic without going into too much detail. More of a quick reference.
