Nutrition and Diagnosis-Related Care, 8e, by well-known author and nutritionist Sylvia Escott-Stump, provides “need to know” condition-specific, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy information for more than 360 diseases and disorders. Ideal for students completing a dietician internship, graduate students, and practitioners, this best-selling book makes information easy to find through a unique, monograph-style format. An accompanying Inkling eBook provides anytime, anywhere access to the fully searchable text online, along with over 50 embedded videos and a wide range of hands-on demonstrations organized by disorders and life-stages.
Revised and updated throughout, the Eighth Edition features new information on the treatment of inflammation through nutrition therapy; new and updated coverage of autism and neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders; timely information for the dietician working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary care setting; and much more.
The best reference I can recommend for medical nutrition therapy. It includes over 350 diseases/disorders/conditions with background information, nutrition care and recommendations, and medications/herbal remedies and side-effects. Each section has very nice diagrams, bullet points, and tables for easy reading. Every RD needs this on their shelf, especially if they see a wide variety of patients. Updated with the 2010 DRIs.
My go-to book for researching medical nutrition therapy for specific diseases, hypermetabolic states, or malnourished states. Very comprehensive. A MUST HAVE for all those in the clinical dietetics settings.
