Thirty years ago, 3 teenage girls were found dead at the foot of a waterfall .. all were wearing a white wedding gown, all had a red rose, thorns and all, stuffed down their throat and then strangled. A young man was accused, tried, convicted and is now up for release.

Now it looks like the killing spree has started again. Once more, a young woman is found dead by the waterfalls, almost identical to the earlier killings

And thus starts the race to find the murderer before another life is lost

I've liked all of this author's Romantic Suspense books. Yes, there's some romance, but the majority of the book deals with the FBI looking for a killer, a woman who is searching for her birth mother, a journalist looking to make a name for herself covering this case, a sheriff dying from a brain tumor who may have railroaded a man into jail so many years ago.

This book pretty much has it all ... half-truths, all out lies, and lots and lots of old secrets.

Many thanks to NetGalley / Amazon Publishing for furnishing this uncorrected proof in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

Herron had me in her grips from the first page, drawing me further and further in with every turn of the page. This was an intense read. The multifaceted story with intertwining subplots that enhance the entire novel made for an afternoon that I will never forget. There was never a dull moment. Herron keeps the suspense going throughout, having me wondering and guessing right to the very end. This novel was avidly fascinating and endlessly exciting. It had a definite spooky vibe. The eeriness of the writing definitely added to the suspense factor for me.

Mona’s personal struggles, on top of the main mystery of the novel, which she was also wrapped up in, created emotional strife that drew me to her. She was such a multifaceted character. Cal’s guilt and regrets make him so human, yet at the same time, his FBI persona makes him larger than life. Together, these two had me on pins and needles, trying to figure them out as individuals, and as a pair. Herron also developed her supporting in such a manner that I really felt as if I knew them. Some of the characters were absolutely loveable, others were somewhat creepy, while others still barely registered on my radar until they did something noteworthy. But I will say this, everyone added to the story in their own way.

This is a novel that you simply HAVE TO read, word for word, maybe more than once. Will I be avidly following this series (and this author) from here on out? You can bet on it!

Thirty years ago, the small town of Graveyard Falls was rocked by the brutal murder of three teenage girls. Thanks to the ruthless diligence of the local sheriff, Jason Piker, the town football hero was charged and imprisoned. Jason is now up for parole and on the anniversary of the first murders a woman is found murdered at the falls. The MO is eerily similar and some begin to wonder if the real killer is behind bars.

Mona Monroe the widowed wife of Agent Cal Coulter’s partner has recently taken up residence in Graveyard Falls. She is a psychologist and amateur profiler. After her parent’s death, she received a letter from them sharing that she had been adopted. Along with the letter, there was a small baby bootie charm and a receipt from Graveyard Falls. Curious about her birth parents she is hoping to find them. Agent Coulter is curious about the case, but uneasy about running into Mona. I found their history interesting and Herron weaved their story into this suspenseful thriller.

All the Beautiful Brides was perfectly paced giving us insight into Mona, Agent Cal and those of the present day killer. We also revisit the earlier case and meet those directly affected. Herron adds twists, turns and red herrings as we tried to stop the killer. While there is a second chance romance, it stays in the background allowing the murder mystery to take center stage. The story was suspenseful and at times dark. We witness the women’s abductions and events leading up to their deaths. Mona and Cal find themselves in danger, as do other characters. Herron does an excellent job of introducing characters from the past murders and suspects for the current murders. Everyone had plausible motive even the old sheriff. I really enjoyed the suspense and quickly became caught up in the story consuming this in just two sittings. At times, the tale story was intense and a little gritty, but Herron used suspense and her vividly descriptive writing to give the reader a sense of the scene without unnecessary gore.

In the mood for a good serial killer mystery series? Scrolling through my Kindle yesterday, I was in the mood for a Murder mystery novel and came across the Graveyard Falls series by Rita Herron. All the Beautiful Brides has several storylines running through the book. The first is Mona Monroe has moved to the small town of Graveyard Falls after her husband Brent was killed and now is on a mission to find her birth mother who lived in Graveyard Falls thirty years ago. Currently, though she has turned up on the 30th anniversary of the Thorn Killer who killed three girls on Prom Night. Johnny has been sitting in prison for the past thirty years, and he is adamant that he is innocent, up for parole now he has his fingers crossed, but now someone is imitating the murders. Does this mean the killer is still at large? Though this time around the MO is a little different as the women are being dressed in Wedding Dresses. Thirty years ago Anna was going out with Johnny, and now she is back in town as her daughter Josie is researching about the Thorn Killer but doesn't know her mother's involvement. The other storyline is that Mona's husband had dark secrets and now that he is dead someone is after her? Can her husband's best friend Cal Coulter who is in town to help solve the new murders also help her figure out A) who is after her and B) shed some light on who her birth mother is? I did have a fair idea when I was reading this book on who Mona's birth parents were, even though the author chucked in another twist to keep us guessing. All the Beautiful Brides was a good read and a fast-paced mystery that kept me intrigued, and now I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I'm confused. I feel like I just read a very detailed outline or some sort of script. With zero descriptions. Zero character development. Zero relationship story. Just bare bones of a plot.

And the plot does start out great. 30 years ago three young girls were killed and their bodies were found with a rose jammed into their throats. Now another is killed and found wearing a vintage wedding dress, rose down her throat. My first clue that this was not going to be the romantic suspense I was excited about: the FBI agent legit didn't even consider any other possibility than the victim being engaged and about to be married. Like, really? I think anyone with a shred of crime series experience would think it's the killer's MO. (Or have I simply been watching too many? Cause, that, too is a possibility...) Then, instead of an official profile, he gets Mona, a woman who studied some criminology back in the day.

Then there's this whole baby business and questionable fathers and lost mothers. Oh, and dead husbands who turn to be anything but saintly. And the saddest thing is, any of these plot points could've fleshed out into a marvellous complex story. But, alas, it all got packed into one book and shoved everything else out, including characters. And descriptions. And details. Hell, even the romance.

Autry's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

All the Beautiful Brides is the first installment in Rita Herron’s Graveyard Falls series. She has the right combination of suspense and mystery; however, I wished there would have been a little more romance.

Cal is an FBI agent pulled in to work a case that has an eerie connection to a serial killer that struck the town years ago. Cal’s personal and professional life is quickly becoming twined together and it forces him to reevaluate what he considers precious in life. His best friends widow, Mona, is also the only girl he’s ever loved and now she’s unknowingly put herself in the crosshairs of a serial killer.

Mona is on a quest to find answers, she has buried both her parents and her husband; could locating her birth mother help heal the hurt, or will it lead it more disappointment and pain. As a counselor, Mona knows the power of healing and moving forward; hosting a radio show for callers allows Mona to reach out to many. When she starts receiving calls from a potentially harmful person, she reaches out ad gets tangled in his web.

Cal and Mona have a very tense relationship, she knows Cal is holding back and has secrets but she is unsure of how to approach him about them. However, with the killer on the loose, the relationship is pushed aside. The romance could have been easily lost in the mystery aspect of the novel.

All the Beautiful Brides was a good novel, however I felt it could have had more potential. I loved the mystery twist on the novel; Ms. Herron did a good job of giving us glimpses into the killers mind while not giving anything away. The romance was lacking, there was broken hearts and ill feelings, but Cal and Mona’s relationship could have been more of a focus point. Without giving much away I felt very torn at a certain point in this novel. I felt very sorry for Mona and what she has went through, and anger at Cal, he could have prevented so much heartbreak. Best friend or not, Cal crossed a moral line in keeping Brent’s secret and ultimately it could cost him everything. Each character added depth and complexity to the story but I didn’t feel like I knew or could relate to the characters. It did hold my interest well enough to finish the novel but I would recommend to readers that this is more of a suspense novel than a romance novel. If you like heavy on suspense and light on romance this would be the novel for you.

ARC Review
This is a fantastic thriller. It is edgy and moody, dark and dangerous. It kept me glued to my Kindle until the very end. What didn't work as well was the romance. Whereas the mystery was three dimensional, rich from multiple angles, the relationship between the hero and heroine felt flat.

Good engaging story, Great narration. (audible review)
A Good serial killer mystery by Rita Herron. I can't say the romance portion was real prevalent in the book but the mystery serial killer portion was good. The romance part seemed more thrown into the story. There really was no chemistry between the two, because they new each other for years, but always had an attraction to each other, but she ended up marrying his best friend. So there was no lead up to the romance or any sort of get to know each other. There was one sex scene, nicely written, not erotica.

The story line and plot were good and engaging. I liked the murder mystery. It had me guessing for sure. A few twists that were interesting. Rita Herron likes to kill people in her books LOL.

There was lots of dialogue throughout the entire book, which was great.

As for the narration it was fantastic as usual. Eric Dove is one of the best male narrators. He gives everyone their own distinct voice, all the women sound like women. His reading voice is wonderful and engaging. Love listening to him.

Thoroughly enjoyable
This book doesn't disappoint. Although the plot isn't anything new, I found it gripping. The basis is a serial killer that's been at large in a small town for thirty years that now has an FBI agent closing in. There was never a dull moment with a skilfully entwined plot that kept me guessing to the end.

I didn't like Mona. Forced mother Teresa. I mean someone is trying to kill you and you want them to calmly talk to you about what's bothering them? Not everyone need counseling and ffs try read the situation first. And we get to see that cal loved Mona from the beginning. But Mona never said anything. We didn't see how her feelings changed for him. Suddenly he's kissing her and she's kissing him back. And reciprocating his feeling. But girl you forget to mention that you like him like that. And I didn't like how cal hid Brent's affairs from Mona. And you say you love her. It would hurt to see her devastated but still.
And how many coincidence this book can fit here lol. And too much was going on here which diverted the attention everywhere at once. So many eteroll moment....

What a twisted story

This has to be one of the most twisted love stories I have ever come across. Well I guess it wasn't really a love story so much as a story of a love sickness that turned extremely deadly and it had help due to a vindictive authority figure. Good story but sometimes confusing.

The author provokes panic and fear among the residents of Graveyard Falls. Wading through the MANY suspects was thrilling. The glimpses into the killer's mind gave this suspenseful read an extra boost of eerie.
"The white gown fanned out around her like angel wings in the snow. If only she had been the one..."
This story would have gotten all five stars if it had included just a tad more romance.

This reader was intrigued by the secondary character, Sheriff Ian Kimball - hoping his story is released soon. I love a man in uniform.

"All the Beautiful Brides" is the first book in a new series by Rita Herron. I received my copy of this romantic suspense novel from Goodreads. I found the story somewhat convoluted, and the characters somewhat poorly developed. The writing in general improves as the story progresses but at first was very choppy. In the end and by the time everything was said and done, I got my dose of suspense and a bit of romantic mushiness despite the overall lack of depth and intensity. This might be a great made-for-television movie. The novel isn't particularly bad, nor is it especially good, but it could have been better. Of course, it could have been worse, too. It gets a solid three stars from me.

3 months ????

Umm..... I liked this book didn't love it. As three months after her hubby dies the female protagonist is kissing his best friend. No no no.... Especially since she had a 'good' marriage??? If it had be a year or even six months maybe I could have believed it, but the romance fell flat.
Remove the romance and I liked the mystery aspects of the story, but..... The one character 'Josie' moving back to help her mom take care of her grandfather was ODD! The character when first introduced sounded like a whiny teen! In fact I wish the author would have paired the plot twist down to maybe only one or two, as the book tried to hard to be too many things.

Thanks but no thanks.

Skipped majority of it.

I was only in it for the romance. Found the thriller overwraught and boring.

Why did she marry Brent when she had feelings for Cal? How could she have made a life with another man?

How could Cal have given up so easily? He didn't express interest...

How does she manage to hook up with Cal so fast? Her husband only died 3 months ago.

How did Cal keep a secret that Brent betrayed Mona the entire marriage. He was a bigamist.

How, how, how indeed.

Good premise but overall a silly and unrealistic book. I tried to be more forgiving because it was considered a "romantic suspense" or something but even the romance was pretty boring. I don't plan to read any more of this series

I am giving this book that much stars because I am a huge sucker for a Happy sappy ass ending.

So 30 years ago, there was these huge murders, the town is still going through it every year, the killer is in jail, and they all think its the end of things. But on the anniversary women are being found dead, by the falls and also in wedding dresses. This town has so many secrets, I was stunned by everything. Lets sum this all up and get to the point.

Mona is in this town trying to find her birth mother, she has a radio show and is a counselor. Cal who is in law enforcement, and also a dear friend of Mona, has the biggest crush on her and has been crushing her since they were kids, but his best friend Brent beat him to it, and there goes all those of being quiet, but he also has a secret about Brent that Mona finds out about towards the end. By the way she finds her birth mom and her birth dad, you would DIE once you find out who it is.

Johnny Pike, the alleged murderer is being released, after serving all that time in jail, with that alone we find out he's innocent, everything was to protect his love for Anna, whose the sheriff's daughter, They both had their own secret, and even Anna's father had some secrets.

All and all it was secrets upon secrets, I loved it all I would've never guessed any of it. The end almost brought tears to my eyes, the happiness they all find with each other, meaning Johnny and Anna, and also at the end Mona and Cal? Im telling you, I am a sucker for these little endings.

All the Beautiful Brides: Graveyard Falls Book 1 is by Rita Herron. It is a murder mystery with a serial killer. It is quite interesting and definitely well-written. It is very realistic in the plot as well as the characters.
Special Agent Cal Coulter was being sent to Graveyard Falls to investigate a murder. It seems the town was named after a waterfall in the mountains. Three young girls were murdered and pushed off the falls to their deaths thirty years ago. Rose thorns were in the girls’ mouths where they had bitten down on rose stems. Thus, the murderer was called the “Thorn Ripper”. Johnny Pike was convicted of the crimes but was up for parole. The town was up in arms about his being released. Since the deaths, the town had held a memorial service for the girls every year and it was the next day. They didn’t want any trouble to break over this new murder which had the same footprints as those of thirty years ago. Cal was torn over going to Graveyard Falls because his best friend’s widow lived there. Cal had been in love with Mona before she and Brent got together. He owed Brent so he had stepped aside and let Brent marry Mona; but he had a secret he was keeping from Mona.
Mona had moved to Graveyard Falls to find her birth mother. She had learned she was adopted and knew her mother came from Graveyard Falls but that was all. Could she actually hope to find her Mother? Would she be welcomed with open arms or closed ones?
