Triloka #4

Immortal: Triloka Part IV

“No man is to be judged by the mere nature of his duties, but all should be judged by the manner and the spirit in which they perform them.” – Swami Vivekananda

A brittle shell of peace and harmony encapsulates Svarga.

For over five centuries, the gods have remained the uncontested supreme entity.

But complacent ignorance is a gradual disease of the soul, and the deities are too hasty in eradicating perceived threats to realize their most recent adversary is their greatest chance of survival.

After enduring harrowing tragedies in his quest to outwit Fate, Ezra is finally determined to face his destiny as Naraka’s master. From a young age, he was conditioned by a shrewd Fire God who foresaw the hardships ahead. Yet no amount of training could have prepared him for Naraka’s neglected state or the bias he’d face as he followed in the footsteps of his infamous predecessors.

Assailed by threats from all angles, Ezra must discover the mysteries surrounding his creation and learn a rich history that has yet to write its final chapter. But the pressure soon becomes insufferable, and as the smoke and mirrors disappear, Ezra realizes nothing could have forestalled the consequences of a father’s sins.

I am Avery Hendrex, author of the Triloka Series, an M/M Fantasy Romance.

I’ve always enjoyed reading fantasy, but I found myself constantly looking for that perfect novel. When my searches proved futile, I began writing the stories I’d always wanted to read. I tend to focus on character development and the not-so-typical romance with just the right amount of antagonistic attraction. I love twists, turns, and epic plots. Action and politics are a must. Mostly, I love putting my main character through as many trials as he can reasonably endure and exploring how those trials impact him.

Triloka is not a traditional series. I consider it one (incredibly long) epic fantasy separated and divided into different 'Parts' of Ezra's journey. Currently, there are five parts planned for the Triloka Series. Please check out my website for updates/teasers on the series!:

Part I: Immune
Part II: Inferior
Part III: Imminent
Part IV: Immortal (July 11th 2026)
Part V: Infinite (TBA)

I tore through this one in three days and half of me hates myself for not savouring it but hey- what are rereads for 😅

Absolutely dying. Wish I had more words. It felt like no character was wasted or forgotten. I love and am devastated for Ezra and Agni. As impatiently as I will be waiting for book 5, I also don’t like the idea of being finished with them! (Would not be upset at all if Avery Hendrex had to extend it into 6 books).

Loved it, and I love how far this has come from its days on FP

I genuinely cannot fully express in words how this series as a whole has made me feel, but I will try my best. I truly do not think I’ve ever read any book/series that has such a rich and well crafted world and characters. As I’ve been reading this series, but especially within this 4th book, I feel as if I’m reading about real deities and realms and actions that have taken place. You can truly just feel the absolute love and devotion the author has for this work through the pages. The plot, world building, characters, and relationships within this series makes it hard for me to read other books simply because I feel as if I can hardly find this type of fleshed out buildup and exploration anywhere else. Ezra and Agni and their obsessive devotion and desire have me absolutely hooked. I’m so glad that these characters have their own flaws that aren’t so easily overcome, as we see with both Ezra and Agni in this book especially. Although the rocky way they left off in this book absolutely gutted me, I’m very certain we will get to see these two finally overcome their inner struggles and fears and become all the more stronger and untied because of them. I’m so intrigued to see where this story goes and how it concludes in the 5th book. I will be waiting in absolute agony until any small morsel is dropped😭

Conflicted feelings on this one

I am not sure how to feel about this book. There are points where the plot is focused and flows well, and others where it feels like a scene adds nothing but unnecessary bulk to the story.

There are multiple likable characters. Chitragupta and Skanda are both great, and I think utilized juat enough to impact the story without overshadowing the main character.

Ezra is for the most part a good main character. He has multiple priorities, as well as realistic flaws to maintain balance. He does unfortunately fall into the "not like the other girls" archetype, despite being male.

The last few chapters were chaotic and very, very confusing. Not chaotic in the sense of this being the climax, with multiple things happening at once, but chaotic in that characters are switching from one situation and location to another with no transition to explain it. Stuff just...happens. and based on the world building and character development previously established, it makes NO SENSE why or how this stuff is happening. Seriously, the last few chapters are a mess. I may need to go back and read some of it again to see if I may have missed something important.

My overall impression is this is a great story, but my personal preference would be some additional editing or revision in key parts.

Another brilliant book in this series! I can’t stress enough how much this series was made for me and how much I love every single word, scene, character, everything. This book has taken my soul with it, hopefully Ezra will treat it well. An easy 5 stars!!! One love Chitragupta <3

Wow. I mean wow. I love and hate this book, which is btw not the last installment, as I was for some reason sure it would be, haha.

I immensely enjoyed more story and lore building, new characters and more explicit (hot damn!) "together time" between Agni and Ezra. As always author has beautifully delivered a whole lot of heartbreaking, but also heartwarming moments.

That being said, there are some things I would really loved to see more addressed in the next part, and that is mainly communication. It is four books, three realms later and Ezra and Agni are "just fine". They do not communicate, they do not share, they avoid talking about their feelings like a plague. And they know it! That's what really gets me, Agni knows he is enabling Ezra, Ezra knows he takes Agni for granted, and they just don't care. I get the change is hard for both of them, but they have to finally try, please and thank you.

Although this book is delightful, I also feel like it is repetitive at its core. Ezra cannot catch a break, Agni does what Agni wants, struggles in Naraka and Svarga are basically the same as in the mortal realm.

I just hope the next book (if final) will give our characters finally their long-overdue wins and lots of time to heal.

I not sure how I feel about this book.
I pretty much inhaled the whole series and probably failed some exams because I just could not put it down.
This book, however, I could put down pretty easily. It felt repetitive at its core. Plot and character vise. I was really looking forward to seeing the relationship between Ezra and Agni develop. They had such a great chemistry and I had such high hopes. Sadly, most of the book was about Ezra taking Agni for granted and Agni leaving out information and enabling Ezra.
I did not expect—or wanted, them being all lovey dovey, but communicating and taking the other’s feelings in consideration would have been nice.
My biggest problem is probably that the light hearted relive was missing. There were no happy moments, only serious. It also felt a bit confusing, especially to the end.

That’s not to say that the book was bad. It was still well written and I am very much excited for the next one. The others just were so so good.

This is the best book I've read in a very long time. The world-building is phenomenal, and the plot is so captivating that I couldn't stop reading. I absolutely can't wait for the final installment. I'm beyond excited for it! I honestly don't know how I'm going to survive the wait for the next book.
