December 21, 2012 was not to be an Armageddon as the international news sensationalized. It is the thirteenth pik of Mayan history. A time when the creators are to return to usher in the new era. The festivals at the major temples - meant to signal the gods for their return - aren’t working.

Seven year old non-verbal, autistic, Michael, has a fascination with Mayan history and an advanced understanding of mathematics. His mother fights to find a way to connect to him. Through her persistence, she connects him with a university professor, Dr. Riser, who discovers Michael’s unique communication abilities. Through Dr. Riser and his other doctors, he is connected with a newly diagnosed autistic boy, Gabe. The boys are able to communicate with each other through math and music. Together, they expose previously unknown interpretations of Mayan hieroglyphs. The boys’ families and doctors must wrestle with understanding the boys’ abilities as well as their own individual world views that are challenged by the boys’ abilities.
