Lily Wellington, a curvy, rare female bear shifter, lives in Bear Canyon and works in her brother’s sandwich shop. She’d love to get married and start a family one day, especially after she sees her brother find happiness, but the only man who holds her interest is her brother’s best friend, the town sheriff, and he finds her disgusting.
Bear shifter, and town sheriff, Drew Riemann has been in love with Lily since the moment they first met. Unfortunately, he made a promise to her brother and has been paying the price for nearly four years. When Luke gets married, Drew decides he’d rather break his word than live in agony one more day.
Drew and Lily start dating, but when Lily finds out his plans for the future don’t include her, she runs. She refuses to waste time with a liar; regardless of the way he makes her feel. In an effort to move on, Lily makes a decision that puts her in a dangerous, life threatening situation. Luckily, her mate won’t let her go without a fight.
I'm not really sure what to feel about this series. The stories were not bad but it's like there's something missing or maybe not good enough for me. Maybe because they're bear shifter heroes and I expected them to be be OTT alpha males but they're not.
The story was about Drew, 31 and Lily, 28. They're both bear shifters.
Lily works in Well's Sandwich Shop owned by her brother, Luke (book4 H). She helped run the place.
Drew's the town sheriff and best friend of Luke. Luke told him to stay away from Lily the first time they met but it was because he didn't know Drew at the time and they just moved in Bear canyon. He meant it when he said it but not after they got to know each other and became best friends.
It's been four years and he can't take it anymore. He talked to Luke, telling him he's in love with Lily. He expected Luke to get mad at him but he wasn't and gave him his blessing so he pursued Lily. They had a great time together until Lily saw and read something that made her think everything they shared together was a lie and that he's only using her. She ran away from him and didn't want anything to do with him.
She decided to do something that put her in danger. She was badly hurt but Drew and Luke found her and saved her before it's too late.
There were some parts I didn't like and if Drew and Luke were a few minutes late, I might not finish this one.
These little short shifter stories are great if you're looking for something light. They are very similar to each other, bear shifter looking for a curvy mate. Curvy insecure woman answering ads for brides. A misunderstanding that causes a brief separation ...... Not a lot to them but they are rough 50-100 pages long so not a lot of time to build a story. They are however, free of cheating and ow/om drama. Each one I've read so far has been safe.
"Bear Seeking Bride: Drew" Bear Canyon Brides #5 by author Ruby Shae. My Rating: 3 Star...
This story is about grizzly bear shifters, Drew Riemann and Lily Wellington. Drew is Bear Canyon's sheriff and Lily works with her brother Luke (book 4) at his sandwich shop. If you have read the prior books then you briefly met Drew and Lily. Of all the books in the Bear Canyon series, this was my least favorite. Not that I didn't like it, it just felt like something was missing. Maybe a little more backstory on Drew?
Drew and Lily have known each other for years. From the beginning they was mutual attraction. Drew knew immediately that Lily was his mate but he could not act on his attraction. And that nearly killed him, seeing her everyday and not claiming her. But he was best friends with her brother and couldn't pursue her without ruining his friendship. Drew did his best to ignore Lily. He hurt her feelings in the process. But now things are going to change. Luke, Lily's brother recently married and is blissfully happy. Well Drew wants his HEA and he is not going to wait anymore. And he plans to tell Luke immediately.
Sweet Lily has loved Drew for so long and she wished he loved her back. But suddenly, things change and Drew tells Lily he wants to date her. He tells her that she is his, and that makes them both happy. But of course, as we expect in these romances, what happens when thing are going so well? A misunderstanding occurs and Lily freezes Drew out. Of course he has no idea why. But he is desperate to find out. He loves her, he needs her. I felt so bad for Drew at this point.
This novella is a bit darker than the others in the series. Lily made some poor choices and as a result finds herself in a life or death situation, literally. Thankfully, Drew doesn't give up on the future they are fated to have and he comes to her rescue. That scene was pretty intense. After her rescue, Lily and Drew discuss the misunderstanding and once they get past that issue and her recovery, they find their HEA.
No communication between characters and insta-love feel throughout - not one Id recommend
In the beginning I found myself frustrated. The hero had been "in love" with the heroine for 4 years (she was also infatuated with him) but he stayed away from her because she was his best friends sister and 4 years earlier, her brother told him to stay away. Umm ok. So for 4 years she thought he hated her, and for 4 years he drove himself crazy resisting her. Then all of sudden he decides he has enough, so tells her brother he's going after her. Her brother was cool with it. Hello, lack of communication.
So he finally asks her on a date, and they start to pursue a relationship. He knows before date 1 they will get married and is preparing his proposal. This annoyed me. I felt like as a couple I knew nothing about them. I never felt their relationship develop. I wanted to know what made them crazy about each other. So long review short, I guess it was the insta-love feel to this book that kept me from loving it. It was ok, but I never felt any connection to the couple. Also, I tired of the lack of communication that continually went on. At one point in this read the heroine saw the heroes ad for a bride, and of course she assumes he was putting it out to find a bride other than her, even though he had told her he wanted to marry/mate with her??? So she runs away and the avoid each other for weeks???? Ugh! Things like this just annoyed me. The one positive thing about this read was the sex. It was quite steamy. I could have done without the non-stop spanking and references to spanking but the sex was still hot. Even with that though, I won't be continuing this series.
This was close to being a 1 star. The Hero has been "in love" with her for 4 years!!!! And done zippy about it because when they first met her brother said to stay away. He did not mean forever! So he ignored her for YEARS!!! I got the impression he was celibate but she was not (although not sure). A shifter that lets his mate date and move on with life for 4 years?! Just not my kind of shifter book. Maybe I have OD'd on this series, having read them all back to back. But this was frustrating, boring and the sex was not that exciting. I am going to take a break from her books for a bit before trying a new one.
Drew is a bear shifter and sheriff of their smal town. He has been in love with Liky, his best friend's little sister since he first met her four years ago but kept his distance after hus friend warned him off. But four years is a long time with his mate and his is out of patience. He is ready and willing to lose his friend and get Lily finally. Good read with likeable characters.

I think this is my favorite one of the series so far. There wasn't any, " the guy left her behind it messed up big time". This one was just a small misunderstanding. I still really enjoyed the whole book
One of my faves. Lily is so cute and Drew is a hottie, of course. When they come together finally after a miscommunication and then later a misunderstanding, it's so sweet. Love how Drew takes care of her when it's needed.
It was dramatic because of a date gone wrong. Humans who hate bear shifters are just wrong and to abuse someone over something they can not change is next level wrong. Lily found out the wrong way how much Drew loved her.
Lily has been in love with Drew for years and vice versa. But Luke warned him off of her 4 years ago and as his best friend, Drew has kept his word to Luke. But it has been hell for him and all his effort has made Lily think that he hates her. So when he finally decides to go after her, he's got some convincing to do.
Ugh. First of all, four years? He knows she's his mate and he waits four years to go after her? I might buy it if he had no idea she was his mate, but he knew. And if I were Drew, I would be so much more pissed off with Luke than he was...Especially when Luke has known how much Drew loved Lily and he never said anything about him going after her. Thanks for being a pal.
Lily pissed me off. This woman is not only insecure about her own worth, but she's a runner of the first caliber. The kind that runs, never explains why and makes the hero wait weeks for any kind of explanation. All the while he's absolutely clueless about why she's stopped talking to him, why she's avoiding him and why she's suddenly dating someone else. Even later, we think maybe she's learned her lesson, but she hasn't. Drew has patiently been waiting for her to heal before making any sexual advances and she thinks he doesn't want her anymore. Does she confront him? Ask him? No. She just assumes and gets all passive aggressive, like "I'll just lay on this side of the bed since you don't want me anymore." I despise women like that. After Drew has outright stated that he wants to marry her, she comes to the conclusion that he doesn't want her anymore at least three times! I may be done with this author if there are anymore gals like this. I'm also kind of tired of the spanking, "sinking into warmth/soft folds/wet heat" (especially when its the first thought a guy has about a woman), bolts of lightning that cause tingling pussies and panties full of liquid heat and guys needing tall curvy women whose bodies can take a pounding (sounds like they're being beaten).

Not the best of this series due to a silly heroine. Drew has known Lily was his mate for 4 years but due to promising her brother Luke (from book 4) to stay away when they first met he has done nothing about it. All he had to do was tell Luke how he felt. Lily finds a love advert Drew was writing for her and thinks he wants a mail order bride. She takes off and won’t tell Drew what is wrong. She then goes on a blind date with some human guy and even though her bear is telling her no she ignores it and gets in his car. Basically 3 guys put a silver collar on her so she cannot shift, take her into the woods to rape her. Lily tries to fight as a human but they beat her quite badly, not a very happy tale going on here. It is as she has given up fighting that she realises the words in the advert were for her and regrets her distrust of a man who said he loved her and wanted to mate and marry her. If Lily had not been so pigheaded and said good luck with the advert or something equally snarky to Drew, she would not have ended up fighting for her life. I get annoyed when heroines are portrayed as stupid. I prefer tough sensible honest heroines. I will say Lily did admit her stupidity and apologised which goes a long way. Drew is the town sheriff and apart from not speaking up was a good guy. I think Lily’s distrust hurt him deeply. Loved how he behaved at the end.

Lily and Drew's story was enticing. He has loved her from afar for four years and he made a promise, which he has kept until now. Enough is enough.
Lily is a rare curvy bear shifter who has had her eye on her brother Luke's best friend, who happens to be the sheriff of the town they all live in. Every time she smiles he just try to ignore her. At her brother's wedding enough is enough too.
I do not give away spoilers, therefore I am done. I only wish this had been a longer story.
Drew and Lily's story is one of those love stories that should have happened long time before it actually did if someone had actually taken the time to open their mouth and said something. Drew is best friends with Lily's brother. He thinks that he can't date her because years before he was warned he bu his BF that he would tear him apart if he ever looked at his sister. Lily thinks Drew hates her because he won't look at her even though she knows they are fated mates. All things get sorted out and man do they get worked out.
This is a great book in the Bear Canyon Brides series
I really enjoyed reading Drew and Lily's story. I liked the fact that Drew was mistaken about his best friend's warning about his sister. That entire conversation was fantastic and realistic. I do think Lily should have asked more questions rather than running, but I don't think the ending of the story could have been any better. I am looking forward to reading the next installment.
Loved reading about Drew and Lily. I had high hopes for their story. I actually thought there would be more of a "chase" between the 2 instead of just getting together so quickly. Thats ok though because it still was a sweet story. A lot of misunderstandings and thats what communication is for and neither one is good at it. LOL.
Loved this one like all the rest of Ruby Shaes shifter books. I love a man in uniform and very hot officer Drew fits the hot bear shifter description to a T. Drew wants to claim his mate, and they both are very well written in this story. Very well worth reading.
Kindle Unlimited Standalone book in series. I give it 4 1/2 stars. He's wanted her but her brother told him to stay away from her. She can't understand why he is so mean to her. When their true feelings finally come to light, a misunderstanding sends her in harms way. Can he save her before it's to late?
Another great book from Ruby Shae!!!! I love this series! This also has to be my favorite! It had action, family, and lots of hot goodness. A must read and a perfect short book for when you have a break!
Absolutely wonderful love story with the two main characters that you will root for them to get their own HEA. It's such a sweet emotional connection between the two and steamy scenes that will have you smiling.
Every book I have read from this author has been awesome. They never get boring, or leave you wondering where is this story going. I look forward to reading the next one.
This book steps up the stakes with more conflict around promises, trust, and self-worth. Drew’s internal struggle and Lily’s bold choices add layers to the romance, while the suspense element adds urgency. It’s a compelling addition that deepens the emotional scope of the series.
What an amazingly written story loved the romance, and suspenseful touch to it. Can't wait for Thorn's story and catch up on all the others again in the series.
I absolutely love this shifter romance series. I have read and read till there is no more books to read and I anxiously wait for the next book to come out.
Series is starting to lose energy. Too much focus on spanking for the sex to be hot. Esp since its pretty unlikely she would like it given that she's been abused.
