Laurence Pierce never wanted a wife or children. He preferred his freedom and his bachelor’s rooms in London. Then his cousin, Lord Oakhurst, dies, making Laurence guardian of a three-year-old girl. He knows nothing about children, and even less about girls. In desperation, he turns to the only lady friend he’s never seduced and begs for help.Lady Hannah Lumley knows Laurence for exactly what he is, since he’s been her brother’s closest friend for as long as she can remember. He’s the last man she could imagine as a father, and the very last man her brother would consider letting her marry. Yet one little kiss leaves her unable to think of anything but the new Baron Oakhurst. Now her Season has taken a twist she never expected. How can the nice young lords and gentlemen in London ever compare to this impetuous rakehell?
Too many misspellings throughout the book that made it very confusing in certain parts. Also the chemistry between the hero and heroine developed too slowly and then became too sudden at the end of the book. It was almost as if the author was afraid of not making a deadline and just hurried up the end to make a deadline. Which made it very un-romantic for me.
OK novella with a likeable h/h. Simply written, very proper manners as per the Regency period. Not much character development and no heat. I found it impossible to feel any love with only a couple of chaste kisses throughout.
PS...There were a few errors in the kindle version (eg missing words, extra words, couple of misspelled words)Nothing that detracted too much.
I enjoyed it until the end. Then it felt very rushed. The rest of the story was great. I loved the characters, then poof let's get married. I never felt like they actually had a love story. They had the begining of one then just when they should have been tipping into love with each other they skipped to the end and the book was over.
