I'm an author of paranormal and contemporary romances. Blessed or cursed, depending on my mood and where I'm at on my current WIP, my overactive imagination guides my muse.
A big fan of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I incorporate various weapons in my paranormal romances and use out of this world names just because I can.
This was an interesting book. ¬When I read the blurb I was intrigued immediately. However, getting into the book, I was a little confused as to what was going on. I have learned that there are other books in the series before this book and perhaps I should have read those books before this one. I just felt like I was starting in the middle of the story and not the beginning. Even perhaps at the end of the story and not even in the middle. Not that the book wasn’t good, but I think it would have made more sense and would have been a great read had I had a little more background information on the Elders, Vicious, and such. And not having that information is what had me confused the entire story.
What I did love about the book was how Nick, Raine, Brackus and Javier where extremely connected. I have read love triangles before, but nothing like this one. How a soul can be split in half and latch onto another soul continuing the love triangle. Three must become Two. When Raine and Nick met for the first time officially it was an instant connection and both couldn’t understand why they were so drawn to each other. Especially Nick because he was searching for his sister’s killer and his search pointed him in the direction of Raine and not knowing her full story he hated her with so much passion.
Raine, is trying desperately to gain all of her memory back after being abducted and abused for a year. She has told that she as 4 days to live before the poison inside her takes over and her people kill her or come into her special ability to save her people. Along the way she has flashbacks and thoughts of pieces of her past and meets a young boy that she feels extremely protective about. Out of nowhere she meets Nick, an ex-FBI agent that has been stalking her. Together they help each other while fighting an immediate attraction. Raine feels this draw toward Nick, but the pull that she feels has memories and feelings for someone from her past.
The story is original and pulls you into the story whether or not you understand what’s going on or not. It had me continuing to read even being confused because I wanted desperately to completely understand what was happening and hopeful for a happy ending. Even though I didn’t get all my answers and was still left with some confusion, it has only piqued my interest to read the rest of the books before this one.
I recommend this book, but I highly recommend maybe reading the previous books in the series. This may be a standalone series, but I still felt a bit confused, but satisfied at the same time because of the originality.
This book was totally confusing but I loved the twists and turns. It wasn't an easy look and me and fall in love story. They both had to overcome daemons to reach their love. Which made it all the more sweeter.
Can love solve the puzzles before time runs out in this Otherworld tale?
A fast paced Otherworld tale of intrigue, mystery, emotional conflict, and love. Time is of the essence as December Raine deals with the puzzling turn of events she awakens to upon her release from capture. Old enemies are in abundance, New friends are on the horizon, will past acquaintanceships reform to help solve all questions being posed?? I hope you enjoy this novel as much as I did.
