Drake Cisco is a hit-man with an agenda. Ten years ago, his dad offed himself when he was accused wrongfully of stealing from the town's leading citizen. The fact that the black Drake was dating the man's white debutante daughter at the time had a lot to do with the way things went down, and once Drake figures this out, he's out for blood. He doesn't much care who's on the other end of his scope when he pulls the trigger, until the day he's hired to take out Sal. Drake has no idea that Sal is actually Selena Delgado, a young girl on the run for her life; but when she makes him look twice, he knows for damn sure there had to be a female under the atrocious disguise. Things really get heated up when the hot headed Colombian gives him a run for his money and gets him to thinking about things like hearth and home. All the things he'd long convinced himself were out of the works, since the day he first picked up a gun for hire.
SO GLAD I GAVE THIS BOOK A CHANCE. NO SPOILERS HERE. Not what I was expecting and I really loved it! This book was about an inter-racial couple a black man and a Latino woman. I was very surprised at how much this book worked for me. I pick up this book because it was part of the series protector from Jordan Silver. The hero was a very hard living hit man after his father killed himself. He was subjected to racism and very much written off by his community. He used that to his advantage. I will not give this story away anymore but wow it was hot without going the whole BDSM route. For him, the world shifted and his priorities changed when he was confronted with his destiny. The heroine! Omg he was so alpha it was hot and he was so protective it was sweet. We only get a limited amount of her thoughts so it's hard to judge but he was very much into him. She is spunky no nonsense type of girl who knows what she wants. I enjoyed her as well. The story has just a little bit of action but that was just fine. This is non a smutfest book but a story that contains some smut. Totally amazing and a keeper for me.
I usually read books like this because I love OTT alpha heroes. This one actually had a nice story with it. Drake wasn't as possessive and OTT as some I've read but he was still alpha and a dirty-talker. I just didn't like how he was willing to let her go. I wanted him to crave her and nothing would keep her from him. He still couldn't let her go in the end but he felt he had nothing to offer her. But, I have to say, I liked Selena the best. She was a fire breathing, Spanish cussing latino and I loved her. She gave it back to Drake any chance she got, well, as much as he would allow lol. So, overall, an enjoyable read.
Our hero is a hit-man, out to avenge his father's suicide by offing vile people and to give his mother a better life. Things take a turn when a large amount of money is offered to kill "Sal", who later turns out to be a Latina belle- and our hero is instantly hooked! Soon he discovers the reason behind the hit, and saving the girl becomes his salvation.
Finally a good JS- without the cringe and the mean-ness I had seen in her recent works, and totally made me reminisce why I fell in love with her ages ago.
We had a devoted hero, a fiery heroine, loads of hot, gooey sex, dramatic back story, humor, some jealousy fucking and a sweet bred HEA. I liked that Jordan addressed racial issues in this one, something that most erotica authors shy away from.
If you can ignore the starting scene with OW, which is before he met the heroine, this will be acceptable for the safety fanatics.
This was my first Jordan Silver book and I really liked it. I like hot alpha males with bad mouth and innocent, virgin heroines. Opposttes attract, and all. This is may-december romance. Heroine Selina was 19 and Drake was 37(?). I only wish the story had been longer. It was wrapped up too fast. I liked the cover -hot biker- and that's the one reason I bought it. Yes, I am that shallow.
There were a few hiccups here for me though. I didn't like how it all felt rushed towards the end, when it came to the Hero and his issues. Considering how the first half of this book was set up for him & why he is who he is. I felt like the process of giving him closure was glossed over greatly, considering how much time was spent on the set up of it all.
But other than that, it was a good read. I would recommend it :)
There was something missing...maybe the hero wasn't the usual JS hero in that he was willing to let the heroine go instead of being totally prehistoric possesive about her the moment he eyes her.
This is the second book in the Protectors series by Jordan Silver. Drake Cisco is a very dangerous hit man, he's an expert with a gun but instead of joining the military he used his skills in other ways. Ten years ago narrow-minded people in his small town set out to blame Drake's dad for something he didn't do. This caused his dad to take his own life and now years later Drake is finally in a position where he can enact his revenge against these men. He gets a call for a new job - all he has is a name, Sal Delgado and a location and someone willing to pay one million dollars to make this person disappear. It doesn't take him long to realize that Sal is actually a beautiful young woman disguised as a man. Selena Delgado is 19 years old and on the run from her stepfather, Carlos who tried to rape her. Her mother just died and Selena took the first opportunity she could to run away from Carlos and whatever he had planned for her. She also has video evidence of Carlos with young girls and that's why he wants her dead. Drake knows as soon as he sees Selena that he must protect her at all costs, no matter what.

My thoughts: Wasn’t bad. When I want a quick read that I know I will get a alpha badass with Jordan Silver. Although she can be a hit or miss with me. Sometimes she goes over the line of alpha just into jerk territory
Overall Rating: 3.25 Do You Recommend This Book: Sure ReRead: Probably not Would You Read More Books By This Author: Yes
I LOVED THIS BOOK. After his father kills himself he goes looking for revenge on the people who caused his downfall. The hero who has been written off by his community becomes a hit man. He is almost done with that life as his revenge is in place when he goes for one last hit. In walked the heroine-boy? He was sent to kill. Now the story goes from there. This is an interracial couple him being an African American and her a Latino. They make an amazing couple. Note please there are elements of Racism here and also mention of human trafficking and child molestation and sexual abuse. We don't get an account of this. This is just part of the story.
I found this a nice book that was marked improvement on her previous work. The use of the English language was better and her vocabulary also improved. Still many explicit scene and harsh language. I enjoyed it more then I thought I would and I would read it again sometime.
Drake Cisco knows he has about to more hits before he can officially retire and exact revenge for his father's death. He has slowly been planning it and the timing is just about right. However his latest job has him after a guy named Sal, but his gut is saying something is not adding up. When he discovers Sal is actually Selena Delgado, he is confused. Not because he can't off a woman, he can but his body is screaming she is something special. He wants to discover the reason for the hit and once he does he has to make a choice.
I liked this one, very different from Jordan Silver's other books. I liked Selena she is a firecracker. Most of the time in this authors books it's insta-love while their is a little bit of that, Drake denies himself. Page turning fun.
It feels like I'm reading the same book over and over. It's just different names (maybe). The story just happened to fast. First he was about to kill her, then he's kissing her, then they were having sex, and surprise surprise she was pregnant. All of a sudden he loves her. I'm just sick and tired of the same damn storyline.
Pleasantly surprised with this one! It had just enough suspense and romance/angst to keep me interested. Of course it had it's unbelievable sex scenes (it wouldn't be a J.S book without them lol) but the rest of the story actually had a decent plot to it. I wished it had been longer because it seemed like some things were really glossed over like Sal's problems with her stepdad, Drake's revenge and their almost separation but still I enjoyed it!
What is their to say about this book? So very very much! Selena is a spit fire through and through. Drake is a hit alpha man who has done things he’s not proud of but felt he had to do. When someone calls him to put a hit out on Sal he does wheat he always does to be sure he’s not killing an innocent... imagine his surprise when he finds his one!! Unfortunately he’s not sure he deserves a good woman:( will his past stop his future?
Love this book for many reasons. One the Hit man got knocked on his ass by love. Two Sal’s strength was never diminished. Three revenge was had. Yes, I know many aspects are unbelievable but this is fantasy. Young virgin and cold killer with revenge plans find burning love and hot scenes with a sweet HEA. Laugh a little, cry a little, hot times a lot.
Yes, please. He is a true visionary with his quest. He is so Alpha. True story...I love this kind of dominance in these books and the smut time but if my man tried me with any of this kind of sexy time we would end 🤭🤣😂
Another Jordan Silver hit. I totally enjoyed this book. It’s well written and not your standard hitman falls for his mark. There’s well played revenge and colorful characters to go along with the hotness. 💖💖💖💖💖
Drake thinks he has it all - football, good grades, the perfect girlfriend... but then it all gets blown to smithereens. His life’s mission immediately becomes about protecting his mom and making the evil doers in his life pay for their betrayal! In order to do that, he needs money. And what better way to get lots of money than to sell himself (or at least what he excels at) to the highest bidder. So, a hitman is born! For years, Drake hasn’t let emotions or anybody other than his mom into his life; but when his newest target turns out to be not what it appears, his life once again gets turned upside down. Selena is a Colombian spitfire who takes nothing lying down. But she’s no more ready for Drake than he is for her. This story contains some deep drama, but is told with Jordan’s humor and blazing love scenes! It’s an amazing book that will leave a smile on your face!
I loved this, because I really loved the alpha hero. He has been working to destroy enemies of his family for years, loves his Momma, falls immediately in love with his heroine, is incredibly sexy and is completely bad-a$$. The heroine is feisty, and was doing everything she could to protect herself before she met him. She was doing very well until the bad guy hired a very expert hit-man. By the way, that's the hero. There is a lot of context given for why they are both in the position they are in, and the action happens over the course of just a couple weeks, except for a great epilogue set 4 years later. The story is action-packed, their chemistry together is great, and the dialog is both sexy and funny. I strongly recommend.
So this was a pretty good read...quick but good for my first time from this author.
I loved the bad-ass hero out to revenge his father's death that quivered at the knees when he met Selena. He was initially hired by her step-dad who paid a million to take her out, but Drake went w/ his gut instinct to find out more about her and why her step dad was willing to pay so much to take her out.
While hiding out, the two opposites who had instant chemistry, grew their trust towards one another while setting up for an intense first encounter.
A little to much inner dialogue to my liking, but all in all, pretty good read.
Drake's life takes a turn when his father kills himself for falsely being accused of stealing from the leading townsmen and when he finds out who was behind it, sets into motion the man he becomes which is a hitman for hire. When he is tasked to take out Sal. He knows something is up because this is not a ma but a woman in disguise. Selena is a woman on the run and when she connects with Drake, he is given a run for his money with this feisty woman. Drake is drawn to Selena and the wall around his heart starts to fall for this woman. Will he be able to keep her safe and will they get a chance for happiness?
That was an awesome book! Laugh out loud, need a ur man near u by the end of good! I definitely enjoyed reading this book. Hot love scenes, mixed with deception, murder & mayhem. This book is just another reason why reading is a great get away from reality! Ok, this is fiction people! Its not real, so stop being so hard on these authors. If you didn't like it fine, but I don't see you all making an attempt to publish a book! Calm down, read something else or go play with technology.
She did it again Jordan Silver had me falling in love with an Alpha male and a sassy heroine...I loved Hitman, it had all of her usual alpha male and sassy female but that over protective love comes out to play. No one writes a loving crazy alpha live Jordan Silver...
I am a Jordan Silver fan! I enjoyed the book... my only critic of the book would be some of the spanish words and how they were used(I didn't even understand whatsome of them meant and I speak spanish! and swear a lot!) But the story was good and the characters higly likeable
kinda scary bad boy ahead to be read ... I liked this one I think I enjoyed the first book in this series a little more than I did this one but still a fantastic series I can't wait for book 3 to come out .. :)
