This is a post-apocalyptic horror story where bad people do evil things, and as such, this series features disturbing scenes and foul language. While it is all within the context of the story, some listeners may find this content offensive.

You would think that by the end of the series that they would get it right. This is the final entry to the Yesterday’s Gone series. It started off with an Apocalyptic Event where several people blinked out of existence at a specific point in time and entered an alternate reality where they believed that their loved ones had been the ones that blinked out of existence. In this alternate place they were attacked by aliens that spread darkness throughout the world. When they returned from the other place, the aliens came with them to infect this place, but hope was with them.
There is a final battle, but this battle is filled with magic and metaphysical happy crappy that has not been present throughout the course of the series as it is in this "final" novel. I think there is an extreme deviation from the story in this novel, and I really feel as if my time was wasted on this series. It uses a deus ex machina that is as frustrating as it is unwarranted. I will not trash this series, but I am exceedingly disappointed. The climax was a battle reminiscent of Star Wars, and that’s not what I signed up for in a post-apocalypse novel. I think the writers "jumped the shark" with this entry.
After 6 seasons it has finally come to an end.The book wraps up really well, and there were still a few of the surprising scenes that would make you think "I didn't see that coming".
But really, all the loose ends were tied up.Good Series!
The ride is over, and a hell of a ride it was. The light has won but the darkness is not gone. Unfortuantely someone has to contain it and that person is destined to be alone for the rest of their long life.
If you haven't read the entire series, start at the beginning and enjoy the ride, you will not be sorry.
I am reading- Some of group was captured. There was rape, torture, attempted child rape. I love SyFY but this was just cruel, unnecessary over the top, hard to read barbarity. I have liked these books, but if you're running out of plot idea's don't get all Dr Mengele on us. That's no fun at all. Now Mary is captured and being physiologically tortured about her dead child. This is just mean, mean stuff. Let's see how it ends. More of the same. It wasn't till the last 1/2 hr that our favorites have any luck and good things happen. Too many of those we come to know and love don't make it. Paola is killed four times but is a survivor. IDK, last two books where so different than the first four. I could/should have been much better.

Apocalyptic series based on just about every scenario, disease, aliens, time travel,, intdeminsons, lightness, darkness, societal conflict. These 2 authors are amazing. Nothing cookie cutter. What you think might happen doesn't, or will it. The authors have a great ability to build to a crescendo, bring you down and do it all over again. But keep in mind, nothing is really off limits (as would be in the real world) so be prepared to read about things that might be uncomfortable. You won't be disappointed
I read all the seasons to Season 6. Although it jumped around a bit, I needed to use my memory as to where I was and who was it what situation, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of the story and the plot. It's kinda freaky that actually, it may not be too far from what may happen one day on our earth.. who knows. Definitely some gory bits and very graphic in part. Defo a thriller / story of love and a journey shared by the main characters.
The first book was free i read it and was hooked and downloaded the rest of the series. It's a page Turner and filled with action. So glad it ended in a good way that made me smile for the team. Rewarding yesterday's Gone I have felt that there was more to the story out there that I have already seen. Maybe it was in my dreams or my mind adding to the story. As I closed the book. I thought I heard clicking sounds. As I look back over my shoulder.
I am so sad that Yesterday’s Gone has come to an end!
When I started reading season one of Yesterday’s Gone I had no idea I would fall in love with these books. I loved everything about these books from the characters to the world building to the dialogue. Yesterday’s Gone is one of my favorite story’s and can’t wait to read more from these authors.
This story ended and I'm sad but the trip was awesome!! I wish it didn't have to end and I'll miss all the characters especially Boricio and Luca but I know there will someday be more about them.
6 books of back-and-forth stories for… this. Don’t get me wrong, this book's still very fast paced, action heavy and entertaining but I think I was expecting… more? Something different? I don’t know.
Season Six wasn't as good as it started off to be. Initially, it was a great fast-paced page-turner read and then it went to off-road driving. I ended up skimming the pages and then backtracking to read them. I'm sorry for me it wasn't what I was hoping it would be.
This was a satisfying end to this series. Previous seasons were difficult to follow at times, due to the bouncing timelines, but the smooth linear flow of this season made it an easy read.
I started reading the first book in the series just after season one had ended and the episodes for season one were combined into one book. I then began to wait expectantly for the individual episodes for season 2, then went back to waiting until the completed books because it was harder for me to keep up. All said, when the complete season six came out I realized I had missed season five and knew I might be a tad confused so went back and started with season one and reread it in its entirety. It did not disappoint.
I remember after reading season one I had a feeling not unlike that which I had after reading Stephen King's "The Stand." Rather scary and also haunting. Each succeeding season built on that, but in different way, and bringing out other feelings of varying degrees.
The development of the characters was also well done. I mean, who would have thought after the first few episodes of season one that you would be liking Boricio so much at the bittersweet ending of season six?
I love that the advent of e-books has allowed serial books to become important again. One reads of Dickens books coming out a chapter at a time in periodicals of the 19th century, and the excitement both in England and America when a new issue would arrive - in fact there were near-riots as the last chapter of "The Old Curiosity Shop" arrived on the shores of the United States, so anxious was everyone to learn the fate of Little Nell. Fortunately, Yesterday's Gone didn't cause near-riots but it was just as anxiously awaited by the legion of fans it had gathered over the 3-4 years of it's episodes.
This series is not for the faint of heart and the language is quite raw at times, especially from the character Boricio, so fair warning. But if you're a fan of sci-fi and apocalyptic literature I think you'll find this series quite compelling and certainly an edge of your seat read.
Wow, I'm not sure to do what myself right now. I've been enthralled by this series for the last two months of my life, not a day went by without reading and thinking about Yesterday's Gone. And now it's over. Well, not really because I'm sure I'll continue to think about it for awhile, but I have a serious book hangover and probably won't be able to start something new for a good bit, though after I finish typing up this review, I'll be researching what story by these authors that I'll dive into next. I spent so much time thinking about this series, unraveling the mysteries and characters in my head, trying to guess at what would be next, what curve ball would be thrown and what would eventually be revealed. It has been the best reading experience I have had to date and is most likely the start of consuming a new (to me) author(s) and genre like its candy.
I had been in a major reading funk after completing my goal of 200 books in 2 years and hadn't been able to get into anything for a few months following. Then I was checking my daily email from Bookbub and saw Yesterday's Gone and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad that I did. And I have and will continue to recommend this series to anyone that will listen.
I'm sure I will be adding to this review as I continue to digest the story and will be writing reviews for the previous books.
A huge thank you goes out to the authors for creating such a captivating series and for getting me out of my reading funk.
I must say, I am sorry to see this series end. The authors absolutely saved the best for last. Season six was by far the best season. I not only gave it a 5 star rating because how excellent it is, I gave it a five star rating for the entire series because season six solidifies the entire series in away that I have to give it a top rating. This is one of the best series of serials I've ever read. The scale and scope in which they are written is mind boggling. You fall in and out of love with the characters. And by the end of the series you almost wish you are part of their world, regardless of how f'd up they are and it is. Series six wraps up the series in a way were you walk away satisfied, yet yearning for more. The authors have assured us some of our favorite characters (Mine is Boricio and his Beer Battered Bullshit) will make appearances in some of their other works. For those of you who are not familiar with the series, it is an epic journey that take place as the world mysteriously and suddenly ends in away that has not quite been done before. It brings together a number of characters from every walk of life that come together to fight for a common cause and become family along the way. It is sci-fi/mystery/action/drama/comedy. Very few writers have the talent to pull something like this off. My hats off to the authors.
This book wraps up Yesterday's Gone. The story picks up some years after the end of Season 5, where the aliens have basically taken over the planet and The Light and it's rebel crusaders are isolated into small pockets of resistance. The origins of the Light and the Darkness are finally definitively revealed and I thought that it actually made for a pretty good explanation, even if I did always think referring to them as "Light" and "Dark" was kind of silly.
Great character development, absolutely zero downtime throughout the book as you are led through one action sequence after another with great cliffhanger endings at the end of chapters, and a satisfying conclusion to the series with one caveat. I liked the epilogue and the final disposition of all of the characters, but the device used to actually defeat all but the final bad guy felt a bit flat and out of the blue. Not that much of any post-apocalyptic alien invasion story is ever plausible, but the final battle with taking over the alien's ship strained my suspension of disbelief.
Ten months of my life, here and there. Over 750,000 words. I blazed through the first four books and then waited impatiently Five and Six to be published.
To try and put a quality ending on a work of epic scale can be a hard thing to do. Ask the writers for MASH, The Sopranos and myriad other TV shows that ended badly.
But Sean and Dave got it right. There couldn't be a better ending to this series. Dave mentions in the author's note at the end that originally they were going to end it after book three. I'm glad they didn't, because that book was a hot mess and the only weak link in.
Hopefully there will be more Boricio stories coming down the chute. Maybe we'll hear from Mary, now all muscular and bad-ass ala Linda Hamilton in T3. An Ed Keenan military thriller series, anyone?
I hope the authors find a way to let us check in on other folk from the series as time goes on. If not, readers can be comforted by one unambiguous fact- they got the last volume right.
The book remains consistently well written, action packed, and displays human nature at its finest and at its worst.
The misadventures of the characters fighting for the Light continues to test their resolve, their hope, and their willingness to survive against overwhelming odds. One sees hope defeated, hope resurrected and the human spirit determined to overcome all odds.
This series is amazing, from one book to the next I could not put them down and needed my 'Yesterday's Gone' fix ! I still do !
The final season of Yesterday's Gone brings the series to a worthy conclusion, the story driving forward at full speed until the very last pages.
At this point, choosing a star rating is both pointless and extremely hard: if you've read this far, you'll read the book as you want to know what will happen to your favorite characters. And, you should. This is a great story with some serious character development.
I totally enjoyed this whole series but the last season really capped it. I was so mesmerized that I couldn't put it down. Season Six served to wrap up a lot of loose ends and story lines and was exciting from the first page to the last. It was well worth the time invested in the story from Season 1 to Season 6. I found it to be a very satisfying finish to an great story. Now I have a book hangover and don't know what to do with it. Awesome job Sean & David, I will forever be a Goner!
I LOVE this series. I started Season One with a bit of doubt. I'd grabbed it during a sale, and I wasn't sure if it would be any good. Initially, it seemed okay, but as it went on, I was drawn more and more into the world, the characters, and the need to know what was going on. Season by Season I went on, buying the next as I finished each one. In the end, I couldn't read it fast enough, yet I didn't want it to end, either. Six seasons and around 750k words later, I love the whole thing.
Although sad to see a favorite series end, I think this was done in the best way possible!
Definitely ups and downs and the now famous "WTF" moments, this was a very enjoyable ride through the final season of Yesterday's Gone. It was great to see some favorites, and it was great to see how the authors pulled all the threads together for one epic ending!
Yesterday's Gone is and will be one of my favorite series ever, and will be reread time and time again.
I was skeptical as to how the story would play out and finally end, so you can imagine the trepidation I felt when I began reading Season Six of Yesterday's Gone. I think that the writers did a bang up job of tying up all the loose ends and ultimately developing all the characters in the end for a "bang up" finish, to coin a phrase. Well done and well worth a read for those who like quality writing with an edge.
Wow! That was some ending! I was at the edge of my seat the entire time and I certainly couldn't have predicted how it would all turn out. I became so attached to Yesterday's Gone that it very nearly broke my heart that Season Six was the last of it, but I was NOT disappointed in how it all wrapped up.
I loved t his series the great character development, and the ongoing conflict between good and evil us verses the aliens. I wish this story would continue, but the ending tied everything up. Great story great series.
