Satisfaction Guaranteed: A Werewolf Romance

Not yet published
Expected 1 Oct 26
Alana Darling has a good life. A great one, some might say. At just twenty-seven she owns the most popular bakery in her small mountain town, has a mostly positive relationship with her family, and a roster of friends that she can count on to hide a body if the need arises. Her biggest problem? She's still...a total virgin. Because, as luck would have it, even in a world inhabited by witches and vampires and minotaurs—no amount of magic can seem to save her sex life.

Between the strings of disappointing dates, her grandmother’s ever-present lectures, and her birthday less than a month away, Alana is left feeling fed up and over waiting for her "Mr. Right". So when another particularly unsatisfying night of self care leads to an ad for services offering a sexy thrill of a paranormal kind (werewolves, and sirens, and shifters, oh my) Alana takes it as a sign to finally take charge of her own wants.

It's Satisfaction Guaranteed, or her money back.
But what happens when the anonymity she was hoping for isn't quite what fate had in mind?

Samóne Bailey is a monster romance author specializing in creating fun, spicy, laugh out loud novels for folks who don't often see themselves representated at the center of a love story. [ARC REVIEW]

There are honestly no words to describe how incredible this debut book is. But I promised the author that I would do the best I could to find them.

I've been following the progress of this book for a very long time, and when it was announced that it would finally be made available, I was so excited I'm sure the neighbor's could hear me squealing. It's not often we come across stories like this one: Plus sized Black virgin FMCs who are shy and sweet and adorable as all get out with vitiligo representation, and Latino werewolf MMCs who's sweet, devoted, and with a hard outer shell that you can't help but want to penetrate...who also happens to be sex worker? OMG.

Alana is an instantly lovable and heavily relatable character, even if you aren't Black, even if you don't have vitiligo. Her relatability goes beyond her appearance; her very character is one that I think so many of us late bloomers can instantly align ourselves with mentally and emotionally. She's good and grown, working hard to please her family all while pursuing her own dreams and struggling to find the things that make her irrevocably happy. She's decided that by her 28th birthday, the virginity has GOT to go - and makes a daring appointment with a werewolf escort to get the job done. Cyrus is a sweet, but mysterious werewolf who knows who he is, what he's got, and what he can do with it. But beneath all that allure and addictive flirtation is a man who has experienced his own form of heartbreak and trauma throughout the course of a difficult life. He's sworn off relationships and in depth connections...until Miss Alana Darling shows up on his roster. Suddenly, everything he's ever said goes flying out the window, and both our MCs must face the unexpected and confusing challenges associated with their newfound and spiritually profound connection.

As a plus sized African American woman who happens to be a 34 year old virgin, I have NEVER felt more seen in my entire life. The first chapter within itself smacked the hell out of me to the point that I had to pause and ask myself, "Is the author in my head right now? Are we telepathically linked? Is Alana Darling actually *me*?" The struggles of pursuing pleasure - not just physically but emotionally and mentally - is captured so delicately and yet in such a raw way that it feels real. It feels palpable.

Samone tackles religious trauma, questions on one's self worth and sense of morality, and familial bonds and found family all in one go with the flow of a seasoned writer that left me speechless. I completed the book in less than 24 hours, unable to put it down. I laughed (straight snorted aloud more times than I was expecting), I got emotional and needed to take a moment to self-reflect, I wanted to slap certain characters upside the head, and inevitably ended the book with a bittersweet sensation of pride and hope. Pride for Alana and Cyrus pushing back against it all and fighting for - and accepting - what was fated for them, and hope that maybe someday (somewhere) someone out there will love me just as much. See me just as clearly. Cherish me just as deeply. And hope that one day I will learn to be more than what others expect me to be.

Satisfaction Guaranteed? That is undoubtedly more than just a title. I ended this book satisfied, emotional, and sated - and I'm so sure that you will too.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

*I will preface this and say this is review is posted for the author but it’s really for me. And maybe any person of faith who ever felt like me.*

When I stumbled upon this author, I knew I wanted to read her debut. A Black Fmc and a Latino werewolf MMC??? Sign me up!

Words cannot express how much I love this book. And I know, I said that on another review. However these authors are bringing heavy hitters! As a religious woman who was negatively affected by the Purity Culture, this book felt liberating. The topic of sex is hush hush by the Elders and of course women were taught that it’s shameful to explore sexuality (even in marriage) just to give a little insight.

What I love about this is how Alana navigates her own sexuality while dealing with the internal conflict of her grandmother’s teachings. Although her Nana love her deeply, sometimes what works for some doesn’t work for others. And that is okay! Alana is a lot of us who couldn’t outwardly express our thoughts on sex. Who had to hide behind shame and guilt for simply being curious about our bodies. For some who had the decision that was already made for them that they would wait for marriage ( and this is strictly for people like me. If you want to, that is good! But if not, you should never be forced to. Your body, your choice.) I think that’s why I can relate to Alana bc the decision of sex was already made for her and she didn’t make it herself.

All this to say that I felt like a proud sister watching Alana work through her religious trauma and explore her sexuality. Cyrus is undoubtedly the most charismatic and sexy MMC I’ve ever read. I mean it’s a wonder she didn’t fold quicker.💀 Cyrus, Cyrus Cyrus. The kind of MMC that backs up what he puts down. If he told me to bark like I want it, I would be howling until the next day and then some. 🥵 I think I underestimated how hot Cyrus was going to be and for that I say my bad. I didn’t think Cyrus was going to ruin panties. He is deliciously and utterly dangerous. A dangerous panty wetter and Alana didn’t stand a chance. Cyrus also didn’t stand a chance against Alana either. One of my favorite things to see is a MMC being brought down to his knees by the FMC.

I love this book for so many reasons, but if you’re looking for a book that goes against the Purity Culture, that’ll get you all hot and bothered, and that’ll have you laughing, well this book comes with a satisfaction guaranteed.😮‍💨🤭

Adorably romantic, flirty and fun, Satisfaction Guaranteed is the spicy read you really need!

My love for this story starts with the way it's set up, as I have yet to meet another novel with the thematic balance this one has. It feels very well rounded and gaily carries you through.
I love that we get to see the issues the characters have without pulling the weight of it ourselves. In addition to keeping the readers out of the bog, Bailey has the most endearing exposition and the world building fits perfectly around the story like an embrace.
I'm surprised to admit that the pacing is my favorite part! There were several times I was incredibly grateful for the ability to move through places that so many other books I've read want to grind to a halt. I feel like it ties in really well with the main character rolling with the punches despite wishing for better!
As resilient as she is playful, Alana is a very delightful main character whose feet are firmly on the ground while she figures out how to get her head into the clouds. Alana and Cyrus have so much personality that I have to force myself to remember I won't pass them on the street! And if that wasn't enough, I'm so enormously enamored by all of Alana's friends, and I really do adore how much fun Alana and Cyrus are to be around. The overall characterization really hits the sweetest spot between monster stereotypes, queer behavior, and believable community, as well as bringing culture and race to the table with intention and importance. This story was clearly crafted with care and the representation makes it very clear that all are welcome here.

I will say this one scores even more points with tasteful descriptive verbage that won't give you the ick mid-read. This book really was a dream to read. It feels like every concern I had about the genre was deftly avoided and I really do applaud that effort. It's a bit hard to believe this is a debut novel with the incredible characterization, pacing and dialogue right out the gate.

This wonderful werewolf romance is a tale you can get behind, in front of or on top of, so read it as soon as you can!

This was so good I finished it in under a day. Samóne really knows how to make a woman feel appreciated with the way she wrote Cyrus. Werewolf. Cowboy. Southern Drawl AND has a love for Black BBQ Cookouts? Be still my damn heart.

Alana is a woman who goes through what many of us BIPOC babies can sympathize with - a home that expects a certain degree of decorum from you, even when it means sacrificing yourself. It lives at the forefront of your mind, dictates years of your live and robs of moments you wish you had sooner. I saw myself in how she navigated wanting to take charge of herself again.

But trauma like that doesn't stay still, and I appreciated how we saw parts of Alana actively working through her own self discovery. It was nothing short of perfection how she took matters into her own hands (and heart), leading us to swoonworthy, panty dropping Cyrus.

I had many moments in this book where I laughed, admired his incredibly addictive Southern charm, related to their struggles and admired how they were honest with each other when it counted. Samóne's story deserves a million stars, and her flowers for how wonderfully she wrote this story.

For a new debut, she had me from the first chapter, and I'm excited to be along for the ride of many more stories to come.

ARC Review hot dang this book was a great one! This Novella follows Alana, a virgin bakery shop owner who decides to go through a monster escort service to lose her virginity. This is where Cyrus comes in, all southern drawl and wolf instincts on the prowl. This sweetheart is a regular at the bakery and an escort for a certain monster service. As they get acquainted, sparks sure fly. I loved these two and the chemistry they share. Loved the jealousy and the primal play as well. Overall, this is easily a 10 out of 10 for me !

This was SO cute! Think sweet, small-town Hallmark romance...except the MMC is a hot werewolf sex worker.
I loved it so much! It was sweet, funny, cozy, and just the right amount of filthy.

What an amazing debut novel! I can't wait to read Samone's future books. 🥰

Blessed to have been an Early Access Reader for Samóne. This books is the gold standard I will forever keep on not just monster romance but the romance genre as a whole.
Alana and Cyrus are so incredibly human, even as they navigate this magical world. They are endearing and relatable, as are their multitude of friends [especially Conner who has captured by heart, who knew I yearned for Himbo Gym Bro Minotaurs?]
Samóne handles the topics of purity culture and religious trauma with such abject care that it is only rivaled by her words in later chapters addressing the objectification of sex workers and ensuring the MMC knows he is deserving of love and respect.
I have laughed; I have cried; I have been flustered beyond recognition.
I will forever yearn for more from this world.
