At age 25, Barry Rodriguez left his life as a comfort-loving, picky-eating, suburban couch potato to become a world-traveling photojournalist. What he discovered over the next six years changed his entire perspective on faith, justice, and the kingdom of God.
Join Barry as he tells stories of the incredible Christ-followers he met during his travels. Learn alongside him as he experiences new cultures, strange foods, and ridiculously uncomfortable situations, laugh as he makes a fool of himself time and time again, and get a glimpse of how God is working in the lives of the poor and marginalized around the world.

Such a fantastastic read! In this book, Pastor Barry Rodriguez gives such insight into his global travel and experiences with the local people he encounters. He offers hope in many dark places and challenges believers to adopt a "How can we help the local leaders?" mindset. Pastor Barry also offers the unique perspective that we should be looking to get out of our comfort zones and into the fire that is global ministry. His book has inspired me to get involved with local charities and help those around me. The biggest takeaway for me is a phrase coined by City Relief, "Don't walk by". Essentially, the idea is that we should try to see those around us who are in need and help them alongside the local leaders. As I prepare for a mission trip this Summer, Barry's book gave me a perfect reminder to never take life for granted. Also, remember we are here to serve others, not to be served.
As Josiah, CEO of City Relief, says before all City Relief outreach events, "These things we do so that others may live!"
