This was a great introduction to the paleo diet, one that I think I can stick to because (aside from bread and cheese) I don't feel deprived in any way, my body works like it should, I lost weight, and I generally just felt so much better. The recipes were delicious and most were easy to make. There were only a few ingredients I hadn't ever heard of and they were easy to find at my grocery store.

I did have a few issues with the layout of the book. You're given a meal plan. It tells you what to eat for each meal for 4 weeks. It gives you the recipes so you know how to make the meals. The weekly meal plan is on one page - one page a week. In order to find the recipes you had to go back to the index to see what page the recipe was on. It needed to be listed next to the meal name on the page with the plan. Also, some "meals" were not really a meal. They were just an entree that didn't have any sides or anything. So I felt a little unsatisfied after a few meals because I didn't feel full. I could understand if all the meals were like this, but it was just some. And since it gives you a weekly shopping list, we really weren't prepared to just whip something up.

The shopping list was another issue I had. After the first week, I ended up just making my own and going every 3 days to the store. The shopping list had everything for all the meals for the week, including the snacks, which you were just "choose one or two a day as needed." So by the end of the week, not only did we have to go back to the store to repurchase some of the produce that had gone bad or molded, but we had all these things we had never touched, since we didn't make every single snack.

Great idea for the book, but definitely had some execution problems. I plan on staying on the paleo diet and utilizing a lot of the meals in this book!

I loved Paleo in 28. I started by reading The Whole 30, a great beginners book about making the switch to a (more restrictive) Paleo diet/lifestyle. I then went on to read Paleo in 28. This book gives you a 4-week meal plan with recipes - each one being 5 ingredients or less. It's perfect for a busy and/or lazy person such as myself. It's a super quick read, helps you prepare, and gives you tips, etc. It even has shopping lists for each week. Even if you currently "practice" Paleo I would definitely recommend.

Ive followed SEVERAL of these recipes so far, and they are all delicious! The blueberry crisp and meatloaf with stuffed mushrooms have been a favorite. Looking for a healthier way to live has become tangible with this recipe book. I appreciate the authors ability to connect with the reader's emotions while setting realistic expectations for the paleo diet.

This is now one of my top paleo cookbooks (and I have many.) The recipes are clear, concise, easy and are the basic recipes I usually go to for paleo. I bought this book about a week ago and have already used it many times.

Overall a good cookbook. I enjoyed the breakfast and dessert ideas, especially. I also thought the recipes weren't too "weird" and that my whole family would eat them. I also enjoyed the small amount of ingredients which makes me feel like the recipes are doable.

Good book, good recipes that Jeff enjoyed too. I rearranged/replaced meals in the meal plan and kicked up the spice levels a bit. A nice starting point outline that makes it easy to prep a healthy week without spending forever googling recipes.

It was good. Not for the beginner cook but definitely a book I can see sinking my teeth into for the beginning of my Paleo diet attempt.

Good recipes, nice that they're 5 ingredients or less. But overall not really exciting. Nice meal plans but didn't offer anything my other paleo-focused cookbooks didn't already have. Gifted my copy.

This was an easy read and the recipes were also easy. I really liked quite a bit of the recipes. However, some were serious flops... like the gnocchi.

I was looking for a good Paleo cookbook as that is the direction I am headed in with my diet. I found this to be perfect for me as a beginner. Paleo in 28 has incredible pictures, they really pop. The directions for each recipe are simple, the information is beyond anything I was expecting. Many different chapters explaining the why, the how, and everything in between on being Paleo. I have found information online, but this book contains most everything in one complete book. No need to go looking elsewhere.
A major pro is that it gives you a shopping list for each week. There is also a food list that is Paleo approved that you can make your own menu from.
I have to give it 5 stars. It truly is an incredible resource.
I did receive this book for free for review purposes.

As far as a recipe book, this is a great introduction to Paleo friendly recipes. The directions are clear and I haven't found a recipe I dislike yet. However, I found the introductory pitch for why paleo "works" to be rather annoying and pseudoscientific at best. I also am unsure that I understand the explanation for why butter escapes the no no list. Perhaps because even paleo enthusiasts know that life without butter is pale and flavorless?

I loved all the info in this book. As someone who is about to transition my family into paleo, it has been really helpful. Another thing im really digging is the serving size for all her recipes is at least four which is awesome for families.

I haven't tried any of them yet but we are beginning the 28 days next week so I'll update my review after!

Great way to get going on Paleo

I have been tinkering around with Paleo recipes for several years but never went into it completely. She makes it look pretty easy so I think I'm going to try the 28 day diet.

Might give it a better rating once I make some of the recipes. It was light on narrative content, but does have a full month's worth of meal plans along with recipes and shopping lists.
