⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Looking for an Urban Romance that delivers heart, growth, and a MMC you won’t forget? Shredder absolutely delivers and then some 😍📚
Greta was a standout FMC 👑 She was smart, a whole boss, confident, compassionate, and knew her worth. I loved that she wasn’t written to save Shredder. She had her own growth and my girl did that!
And can we talk about Shredder? 😜❤️ He quickly climbed the ranks into serious book boyfriend territory. His loyalty, protectiveness, and the way he evolved throughout the story made him impossible not to love. Not to mention among some other things… 🌶️🌶️
What impressed me most was how C. Wynter balanced the romance with real-life struggles. Shredder’s grief and mental health journey were handled with honesty and care, adding depth to his character without taking away from the story.
If Urban Romance is your thing, don’t let this one pass you by. I highly recommend adding Shredder to your Kindle EXPEDITIOUSLY 📲✨
Shredder’s grief was absolutely palpable. If you’ve ever lost someone unexpectedly and carried any type of survivor’s guilt, you’ll likely relate to his internal turmoil. He truly believed that because he had lost everything, he didn’t deserve to live or love again—until he met a “Pretty Brown” doctor who saw beyond his pain, refused to treat him like he was invisible, and gave him hope for a new life.
I enjoyed watching Greta and Shredder fall in love. It wasn’t easy because they both had things they needed to work through before they were ready to love again, but it became clear that meeting each other was fate and they were always end game. Also…Greta surprised me a little. 🤣 Sis was a lil touched in the head herself. I also appreciated her relationship with her brothers and the way they eventually warmed to Shredder.
The villains in this story also didn’t get what was coming to them. They deserved worse.
With that said, there were quite a few story inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story, with the timeline being the biggest one for me. Sometimes it felt like the math wasn’t mathing. There was also a couple of characters who were introduced early on as though we’d met them before, which had me wondering if I’d accidentally skipped a book. While those relationships and motivations were eventually explained, the initial confusion took me out of the story. I also experienced some pacing issues toward the end.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one despite those issues, and with the way it ended, I can only hope Bringo’s story is next.
If I had to title this book it would be Finding Love in a Mental Space. Beware of the triggers. This book talks about trauma related grief, suicide attempts, betrayal, and dealing with hallucinations. But it also talks about someone seeing the real person behind the pain and taking a chance on them. Learning to love yourself after the pain and setting boundaries. Dr. Tiller is a psychologist who does treatment her own way. After being heartbroken she goes to a church conference and rediscovers loving herself and setting boundaries. He is tormented by the death of his twin girls and not handling grief at all. Several times he has attempted to unalive himself but God won't let him go. He ends up at Lehigh Mental facility owned by Dr. Tiller who's genuine concern and authenticity wears him down after she takes him down by force. A new respect develops. Closed lines are reopened and opportunity for love is taken advantage of. He has a lot to overcome by with her by his side in every way, life starts lifing. I ate this book up. Completed it in1 day because I could not put it down. Its currently available on KU.
I received an ARC of Shredder from the author and it did not disappoint!
If you love Urban Fiction with Dark Romance elements then Shredder is for you.
The first few chapters are a bit heavy but C. Wynter handles those topics with care. She did not shy away from the reality of what Shredder struggled with or how society saw him after his tragic loss.
Shredder was a man who had it all then one night his life took a turn he never expected. He is protective, loyal, intelligent, his brother's keeper, compassionate and a bit unhinged.
Greta Tiller is one bad FMC. She is a boss in her own right, confident, the silent but deadly type. Don't underestimate her cute face and smile. She is that girl.
The dynamic between Shredder and Greta just works. They both heal the broken parts within each other. The spice was spicng inn this one. They are becoming one of my favorite couples.
Give this a read, you won't be disappointed!
Read the trigger warnings and enjoy the ride to Mercierville.
Whew... *Shredder* had me emotionally invested from the very beginning.
One thing I really appreciated was how C. Wynter didn't just give us a thriller—she gave us the emotional weight behind the story. Watching a father carry the unimaginable pain of losing his children in a fire while battling guilt, grief, and unanswered questions made this story hit even harder. Every chapter kept me wondering what was going to happen next.
The suspense was steady, and just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist would make me question everything. The characters felt real, and their emotions pulled me deeper into the story.
If you enjoy thrillers that combine mystery, emotional depth, and unexpected twists, *Shredder* is definitely one to add to your TBR. This isn't just a book you read—it's one that stays with you after you've turned the last page.
C. Wynter's pen game is definitely one to watch, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Hand me some tissues!! 🤧🤧🤧 The first 6 chapters of this book broke me! Even though I read the triggers page, I still wasn’t ready for the intense moments of heartache and grief. But, After you get past the first intense chapters, the story becomes one of faith and hope. To me, This book is a representation of what loving someone unconditionally and wanting to see them be better is. Greta was the perfect woman for Shredder and was def placed in his life by God. But don’t let her sweet and kind nature fool you, this woman is unhinged, maybe more than Shredder! She is a freak and she is crazy! 🤣🤣🤣 This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster, esp in the beginning! But it was a beautiful story with layers, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Shredder and Greta were what each other needed, they arrived in each other’s lives at the right moment!
Five-star read for me! I loved everything about this book.
Shredder is a heartbroken man carrying an unbearable amount of guilt and pain. Greta is big-hearted, empathetic, and the kind of woman who helps simply because she believes it’s the right thing to do.
I wanted to reach into the pages and hug Shredder. I felt every ounce of his pain, anger, and internal struggle. This was an emotional read from beginning to end. Sometimes knowing the truth doesn’t erase the hurt, but it can ease the burden of guilt you’ve been carrying.
Side note: I love a female main character who’s just a little unhinged. 😂
Extra side note: I need a Bubbie spin-off!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book. You really had me in my feelings with this one, C. Wynter. ❤️
C. Wynter did an outstanding job dropping bombs as soon as it seemed as if everything was working out. I can’t stand that thang named Constance and I’m so glad she was dealt with. I knew from the beginning that I didn’t like nor trust Crater (he gave unstable creature vibes). I just love Shredder and Greta. I love how C. Wynter describes the relationships between Greta, Shelley, Bringo, and Mercier because everyone needs a support system! I was fussing throughout the book at certain parts that I just knew shouldn’t be happening, but everything worked out for the best. Oh, I love Mercierville already! Happy reading!
Omg! I went into this ARC freezing cold. That means no synopsis or trigger warnings. This book was so amazing. The way C. Wynter revealed the plot through the past and present was chef’s kiss. Shredder had my heart from the first chapter. Because let’s not get it twisted..that was a fine mf Mann y’all…thank ya!! He was always a good man, just taken advanced of. Now Greta…that’s a real one!! This book was so amazing. I need it in my library now. Hopefully this is the first book of a series.
Shredder starts off heavy, but what blossoms is something so beautiful. My heart hurt for Shredder most of the book. He had been through something unimaginable and really didn’t know how to cope. Greta came in and really saw him as a person and not just the grief that was consuming him. I loved how Greta cared for Shredder and never judged him. This story was emotional, raw, and real. You may cry, but there are parts that will make you smile and laugh. This was such a good read!! Please take the time to check out Shredder’s story!
This was a damn good book I enjoyed every page. Shredder a hard working father that has been through hell. He loses two people in a horrific tragedy and he’s lost his will to live. He meets Greta his Psychologist while be treated and everything changes. Shredder getting his life back on track and finding out the truth was written so well. That ending was satisfying and I’m hopeful this won’t be the end.
I absolutely loved this story down ! I enjoyed it from the first page until the very last !
Shredder’s story is so so so beautiful. Being able to love on a man when he has nothing & see him become everything is amazing, especially a black man.
Now shredder & my girl Greta are some freaks fr !!! I might need some therapy cause why did I enjoy this unhinged story so much 🤭🤭
Go ahead and strap in for this emotional roller coaster. This book was a romanric thriller that will suck you in. It will make you cry, laugh, and even get angry. I highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this one. The way the backstory unfolded kept me invested, and every chapter made me understand Shredder a little more.
This story resonated with me because I know what it's like to live with pain and to hope people see beyond what they're looking at. While my circumstances are different from Shredder's, I connected with the idea that our struggles don't define our worth.
Greta's patience, faith, and compassion made her the perfect match for him. I also loved that she and her brothers became the support system he needed, and that they trusted her judgment instead of judging him by his past. Their relationship felt genuine and was built on trust, healing, and respect. It never felt rushed or forced.
Get your boxing gloves ready because you're definitely going to want to fight a particular character... or two. 🥊😂 This book left me wanting more, and I'm already hoping for a series or spin-offs because I need Mercier's or Bringo's story next!
I'm already ready for Mercier's or Bringo's story!
Shredder, a dark, intense, and emotional read that doesn't shy away from grief, trauma, or mental illness. Instead, it asks readers to walk through every painful step.
Shredder is carrying the kind of grief no parent should ever have to endure. Consumed by guilt and convinced he has nothing left to live for; he reaches a point where his pain begins making decisions for him. Those choices eventually lead him to LeHigh Mental Institution, where he meets Dr. Greta Tiller. Their introduction is anything but sweet, but beneath the tension is the beginning of a relationship that neither of them sees coming. 🤭
Equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful, Shredder explores healing, redemption, and the courage it takes to choose life after devastating loss. C. Wynter also beautifully weaves in themes of therapy, found family, and forgiveness, reminding us that healing isn't something we have to face alone.
This was more than a romance, it’s about surviving when you don't think you can, learning to forgive yourself, and discovering that healing often begins when you allow someone to stand beside you.
And that plot twist..... 👀
⚠️ Please prioritize your well-being with this one, and be sure to read the author's content note before diving in. ⚠️
this book broke me. I think i was more broken than Shredder. Life is so cruel and the hand this man was dealt. I wouldn’t wish that on my worse enemy. This book took me on the steepest emotional Rollercoaster. Shredder is a successful mechanic who loses the two most important people in his life which causes him to go into a deep depression, which was almost impossible to get out of. Then he meets Dr. Greta and she changes everything for him. The love and compassion she gave that man!,!,, Y’all this was easily a 5 star read. This is one of those books that will make you jump into an authors inbox because baby i need parT2. Sis, go read the book before i tell you too much
Thank you author C. Wynter for an ARC. All Opinions are my own.
I had a good time with this one. Greta was my girl because she knew how to handle herself in and out the facility, and I liked seeing her recognize she still had room to grow. Her personality fit her career so well. Shredder had a lot on his shoulders, but you could still see the kind of man he was at his core. He came out, got on his grind and made sure he did right by Greta. Now them side characters had me ready to fight. You get drama, betrayal, revenge and growth!
Oh this is such a great read there are some deep topics discussed but baby shredder didn’t deserve anything he went thru. I actually want to throw on the boxing gloves with some characters because they need that this book was absolutely amazing it will tug on your heart strings
