I’m a sucker for cannibal and cult books and this was exactly the kind of read I needed. Emmett, our main character, is a man driven to damn near insanity because of his grief. Not only for his children, but for the others he couldn’t help when medicine failed or was no longer an option. He stumbles upon a strange black pool in the woods near his home that can bring the dead back to life…I’ll let you guess what ensues.
This story was incredible and I have to read book 1 now. Ashley idk what you put in this book but it was so hard to put it down.

I was obsessed with this from the very start and just kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. The main character Emmett is the doctor and definitely one of my favourite things about this book🖤I’m genuinely obsessed with him.
The plot just kept getting crazier, Chapter 7 was when I knew this book won me over The detail in this chapter was described incredibly I could literally picture the whole of this in my head and again in chapter 22 and 25 this had my dark little horror loving heart VERY happy.
I obviously can’t say too much without spoiling it but this read is set in a small town in the year 1888 with a doctor that discovers a way to bring the dead back to life. But in time they all have the craving for human flesh and become a cannibalistic cult.
I honestly didn’t want to put this down. The characters, the plot, the atmosphere and the WTF moments all came together perfectly.
