The deeply sensual Body & Soul series kicks off with “a fun, sexy emotional read” (Lisa Renee Jones), as one woman discovers the courage to face life’s greatest challenges—and explore her connection with a handsome neighbor.

Violet Walker has been hiding. Withdrawn after a terrible car accident, she is worried about going back to her high-pressure job, where she’s expected to project confidence and sleek refinement. Allowing herself a distraction, she’s been watching her sexy neighbor work on his house. But when the shirtless, grinning hunk catches her in the act, Violet is struck by the unmistakable jolt of physical chemistry, a sensation that’s both thrilling and terrifying.

Noah Young is used to moving from one construction job to another, never laying a firm foundation. The same goes for the women in his life—until Violet changes all that. His beautiful voyeur embraces his rough edges and shows him a hint of real love. But even Noah can tell that she’s holding back, hiding her body and her heart from what they both truly want. If only he could get a little help convincing Violet to see herself as he sees her: perfect in every way.

Naked was a sweet loving story that I truly enjoyed reading. This is my second book by Gina Gordon and the woman knows how to write good romance, with developed characters and sexy scenes that goes with it.

The first thing I liked a lot is how Gina makes you want to follow her through her series. Naked is the first book in the Body and Soul series and within the first 15-20% of the book, you’re already all in for the future.

I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Harper, Luke and Charlotte. I hope for a book about Luke& Charlotte because Harper is a much too obvious choice IMO. Things would be more interesting with the innocent Charlotte.
But I disgress…here I am talking about other characters instead of our main MC. But Gina is good like that ;)

So back to Noah&Violet. These two have for sure their own problem they need to deal with.
Violet is a wrecked after she has a car accident 6 months ago that killed her fiancé and left scars as mentally as physically. She decided to take some time on her own and has a hard time to face the reality. She doesn’t feel like the woman she was and she still don’t know who she really is. But unfortunately time lacks, she has responsibilities to fulfill and it’s time to face the world again.
Noah tried to renovate his old childhood house as a gift for his mother. It’s been several weeks that he saw his neighbour spying on him without making any progress in knowing her. So one day, he decides to trick her... and it works.

Violet agrees to spend a date with her hot sexy neighbour under one condition : no background. Noah accepts because first it’s his only chance to get to know her a little but also because love or anything romantic is not in his plan.

I really liked their story. First Gina Gordon manage to bring something not so often seen in book : a successful woman with responsibilities in term of work. How many of you can relate to the guy being a CEO. Here it’s the opposite.

Gina Gordon also approach a touchy subject : self confidence. Any woman has issues, this book is somehow a message of acceptance, of how when you face a tragic accident you need to face your body and still like it.

Violet has gone through a major ordeal and is both physically and emotionally affected. Noah is her sexy neighbor who finds a creative way to get her to meet him. Violet is hesitant to show her body but somehow still manages to initiate an affair with Noah. Now, I can relate to insecurity, but there's something about Violet that just doesn't vibe for me. Noah was awesome. The sex scenes are pretty hot. The story outside of it? I found myself bored. The one really interesting thing about the story was meeting Luke and Harper. That's a story I'd love to read. I just hope it's executed well.

An emotive story about self-discovery, courage and overcoming guilt and insecurities encased in a sexy love story.
“Everyone has something to offer this world. Everytone is beautiful. But if you don’t feel it, no one else will either.”

Violet Walker knows her future awaits. After a life threatening and altering accident her confidence is shaken and taking the reins of father’s construction conglomerate is too overwhelming. Her fiancée had died but she survived with inner and outer scars. So for a few short months she’s sought a reprieve in small town while ogling her next door neighbor hiding away in the confines of her house. Until he fakes injury in order to meet her. The physical attraction between them is evident when they come face to face, but can she find the courage to open up to him? Will her lack of trust and self-doubt ruin her chances at happiness?

For Noah Young his mother and sisters are everything. He loves his family and wants to find a woman to love and form one of his own. But after being lied to and having his heart broken he hasn’t been able to find the resolve to settle down. Not when it comes to his love life and not even with his job. Until his beautiful neighbor inspires him to literally fall for her. With his past, he knows it’s a risk getting involved with a woman who is clearly hiding and holding herself back, but it’s a chance he’s willing to take if he could only persuade her to trust in him. But will secrets she’s hiding be too much for them when they finally come out and she’s stripped Naked body and soul?
“This relationship, if you could call it that, was supposed to be casual. An easy way to interact with another human being instead of being alone inside his house. But his need for Violet was mounting.”

Although I’ll always be faithful to my tried and true novelists, I really like getting to know new authors and series. I love thrill of jumping into new stories, having an open mind and a blank slate. Gina Gordon and her Naked appealed to me not just for its blurb but for its newness. I really liked how this story started out with Noah’s trickery to get to know the girl. My curiosity was also picked when Violet didn’t want to reveal her last name, much less her past. I especially wanted to know why she felt so guilty for surviving her accident, but at the same time be so cavalier about her deceased fiancée.

As the heat between them ignites, it slowly starts to burn down the walls Violet has erected around herself due to her insecurities and she gradually starts to reveal bits and pieces of herself to Noah. Not enough though and certainly not before they decide to put a stop to their fling in order to continue with their real lives. However life has a way of twisting and turning which leads them back together in a precarious yet inescapable situation with Violet being Noah’s boss and their attraction and bond as undeniable.

While the chemistry between them was scorching and Noah as a wonderfully sexy, take charge, charming man who wants a family, I was undecided on whether I liked Violet for her courage and determination to take charge of her life again or was annoyed that she put so much stock on external beauty and appearances.
“With the constant change in her emotions, this girl was going to give him whiplash.”

Her parents were a source of drama that had me pulling in different directions. Her father’s condition was heartbreaking while I wanted to throttle her mother for being so superfluous. I also felt the pace to be a bit off slow going in the beginning and tad fast at the end. But the underlying story was as true as it is important.
"You are more than just what you look like on the outside…"
"But that’s who I am. All my life everyone always told me I’m beautiful."

As the story continued I understood that the author wanted to highlight the importance of inner beauty and that getting to a point where one understands this is difficult and slow going, especially in a society where outer beauty takes center stage. With Harper’s help (a secondary character I’d love to read about) and Noah’s support and that of her friends and family, Violet found her resolve which I very much liked along with the warm and fuzzy, happy ending.
“You’re Violet.” he grinned, those dimples smiling at her... “Just Violet… My Violet.”

Naked is book #1 and a wonderful start in the Body and Soul series by Gina Gordon. This is a sexy and emotional standalone book with scorching hot romance. I hope to get a chance to read more about these characters and from Ms. Gordon as well. This story is told from alternating points of view with a happy ending.

3 - "Sexy is a state of mind." Stars.

Not my favorite book by Gina Gordon, but I respect the reasonings and the story line she has tried to give readers, in telling Violet Walkers story.

"You are more than just what you look like on the outside…"

"But that’s who I am. All my life everyone always told me I’m beautiful."

Body Image, and the way we and others perceive us is a huge thing nowadays, and although I understood Violets struggles, I certainly didn’t agree with a lot of her actions as the book progressed.

The first 30% was great, we had a really unique meeting between Noah and Violet, you could feel the chemistry between them simmering from their initial introduction, and the sexy times were quick to get going, despite all of the secrets and omissions from both of them. But for me the next 40% or so felt like a little bit of a spin cycle in that is basically went something like this –

• Sex
• Secondary character drama/ or a little bit of a revelation from either Violet or Noah.
• Sex
• Some sort of revelation from either Violet or Noah/ secondary character drama
• More sex…

You can tell from the offset this is the beginning of a series, there are so many people introduced into the mix, as well as a huge amount of erroneous drama that I don’t feel was really needed, the rich bitches, her mother’s interfering were my main issues, and didn't really seem to add anything to the bigger picture the story was trying to impart.

"You’re a complete mystery."

I felt that Violet’s personal struggles, Noah’s feelings of inadequacy, and the fact both of them used sex to deflect dealing with reality, were enough to keep the story moving for me, and there were quite a few points in the book where I thought the pacing could do with a rethink due to overly lengthy inner-monologues that felt a little repetitive in nature.

"Show him… Give him a chance to decide for himself."

The last 20% or so then picked up speed, but that therein is the problem I have, because the fact is that everything almost went at snail’s pace up to this point, then all of a sudden everything is pretty much resolved, everyone is happy, and all is forgiven.

There is a huge amount of good to this book, and the story-line has merit, I just struggled a little with the characterization to a certain extent, and the plot development for the bulk of the book. Would I read the next book in the Body & Soul series… I think so yes, Gina Gordon offers a refreshing take on love and romance, I just think Naked would have delivered more of an impact in relation to the issues it was dealing with if it had been pared down a little.

An emotional touching tale of rediscovering strength, hope, love, second chances, and beauty. I have read several books from Gina Gordon but in her newest release, Naked, Ms. Gordon went beyond a typical love story. She stripped her readers naked and in such allowed them to really feel. Feel the hopelessness, the loss, the guilt, the insecurity and the vulnerability of being exposed.

 photo d6aaddce644ef932891f9e812830ba_zpspx6phaqv.gif “She’d wanted him. That much was obvious. But he got the impression she wasn’t accustomed to being the aggressor. So maybe it was time that someone taught her how to take what she wanted.”

Naked was truly one of those reads that reminded you that each one of us are vulnerable to our fears. Fears that can inhibit us from truly living life. And for Violet Walker, her insecurity and fears were skin deep and beyond. After a fatal car crash that left her fiance dead and her alive, Violet struggles with guilt. He died and she lived. She should be thankful that she is alive but the scars ridden on her body has made her fearful, insecure, and afraid. The scars were just a reminder to her that she may have a beautiful face but her upper half of her body was damaged with scars. So when she meets her sexy next door neighbor, for the first time, Violet felt a spark. A spark that could only be ignited by the presence of Noah Young.

#Naked_GinaGordon

Noah was aware that Violet was attracted to him and that she was hiding something since she was always wearing clothes to cover her neck and upper body. As Noah and Violet begin a sexual relationship, Violet makes it known to Noah that he can't touch her upper body and that this sexual fling is temporary nothing serious. After a few weeks into their fling, they decided to part ways. But as it turns out, fate has a funny way of working out since Violet discovers that her Noah is the Noah Young hired to help construct her family's construction project. As the newly appointed CEO of her family's business, how will Violet react to discovering that Noah is one of her employees? And will Violet be able to strip down and show Noah how she truly feels about him? Can Noah finally see the real Violet? When it comes to love, can Violet finally be naked?

 photo 2ce4c98bfe10c67c2d840ee5abc2f7_zpsdvbr5iqq.gif “Their sexual encounters kept getting hotter. More urgent. And technically, they hadn’t even been fully naked. But nakedness was overrated when the need for another human being was so great you were willing to do anything just to hear your name on their lips.”

I found Naked by Gina Gordon an enjoyable read. There are times where I felt it was a bit tad slow but I understood that author wanted to showcase that stripping yourself bare emotionally and physically takes time. Each one of us has to come out of our shell. For some, it may come faster but for people like Violet Walker, she had to take her time. In all honesty, I applaud Ms. Gordon for writing a character so emotionally flawed because it makes Violet relatable. I love how Ms. Gordon showed Violet's character growth with the help of Harper. I think everyone needs a friend like Harper to help push you in rediscovering your inner beauty and acceptance. I love that this book is about stripping you naked emotionally and helping you gain confidence. We all have a past. A scar. Experience some type of loss. And are vulnerable at one moment in our life. But when you truly evaluate your life, no one is perfect. Perfection does not define you but our imperfection is beauty.

 photo d6aaddce644ef932891f9e812830ba_zpspx6phaqv.gif “Silence with Violet wasn’t silence at all. She filled the space, slowed his thoughts, giving him a sense of peace.”

So if you are looking for a book that interweaves heart, raw emotions, family, strength, beauty, confidence, second chances and love then Naked by Gina Gordon is the book for you.

My goal, when reading a romance, is to NOT have that moment where I call either the hero or heroine, or both, pendejos [Spanish for morons]. It’s a small goal, and unfortunately, I did not achieve it reading this book. That moment happened sometime around 65 or so percent in and I'm sorry but Violet is an insecure heroine. Her insecurity wears on a reader after a while.

Now, I can deal with an insecure heroine, because as a reader it's the character arc that I crave to see. However, in this instance, too much of her growth is packed into the end, and not enough to keep the reader hoping that she will get past her issues. Had she shown some growth, perhaps opened up a bit earlier and then gone into the lies portion of the program (also not a fave), perhaps I would have cared for her more. As it was, I was more on Noah’s side and I didn't didn't quite connect with her as much as I would have liked.

Noah is a nice beta type of hero with his own issues though, he didn't make a very strong impression on me either. Mostly, his personality seemed muted, and he took a backseat to her issues and emotions.

The truth of the matter is, I was way more intrigued with two supporting characters - yep, Luke and Harper. Luke seems edgy, and Harper has a fantastic personality. I'd love to see what drove her to be the woman she is today and how Luke could expose her vulnerability (without losing her spirit). They made a great impression on me and I cannot wait to see their story unfold. That was part of the problem. I wished it was their story and not so much Noah and Violet’s time.

description
I enjoyed a good portion of it, even if I had issues with pacing. Overall, I think, there’s good bones here for a series. I’m super intrigued with Harper and Luke, so I’m hoping their book is next.

4 don't forget to live and love stars. I wasn't blown away by the novel but I found it easy to read and liked both Violet and Noah. The story is one of accepting yourself, accepting a traumatic experience and finding love. Without a doubt, Noah will remind you of why it's so great to fall in love with someone and Violet will remind you that you can't live without a bit of risk.

4.5

Violet has self-esteem issues since an accident left her with physical and emotional scars. Noah has been hurt before and doesn't do relationships. He prefers to stay away from commitment and leave his heart out of it. When Noah and Violet meet, they start a month long affair, no last names and no details about their personal lives. What starts out as fun soon turns into a deeper and more complicated connection than either of them had planned.

I really enjoyed this story. Violet really struggled with her self-esteem and I loved how she worked through those issues. Noah was fantastic, kind and patient and just a really good guy. This was a super steamy and sexy book and I loved this couple together. I also really liked the supporting characters and can't wait to read the next book in this series.

This book was very thought provoking, and it definitely struck a chord with me. There were lots of subliminal messages that really made me stop and think about society's perception of beauty and how it affects us all.

Violet never wanted to be defined by her beauty but that's what has happened her entire life. She is a woman trying to forge a path in a very male-dominated world (construction), trying to prove she has achieved her position due to skill and intelligence, and not because of how she looks. Everyone dismisses her as beautiful - the employees in the company, the Board members, even her own mother criticizes her choices, wanting her to pursue a career that will showcase her beauty. The only person who appears to see her intelligence, strength, and determination is her father, and he is slowly disappearing in front of her eyes thanks to early-onset Alzheimers.

Violet is waging a terrible inner battle. Though she doesn't want to be defined by her beauty it's hard to deny it when it's how people see her. So when that beauty is marred by tragic circumstances it's understandable that she falls apart. Unsure of who she is, and what she should do with her life, she flees to a small town to lick her wounds.

Violet doesn't want her flawed skin to change her outlook but it does because she has spent so long being defined by it. She could easily resort to cosmetic surgery but I admired her for not even contemplating it. I really felt Violet's torment. She didn't want to care that her looks were altered, but she did, and she hated herself for that.

Noah literally falls into her life one day and there's an instant mutual attraction. He is a 'real man,' the kind she has never tangled with before. At her insistence, they don't even share their last names, so their connection, at the start, is based purely on their looks and strong chemistry. Oh, the irony. But, as they get to know one another, she sees the man he is and realizes that if there is any guy she could trust with her secrets it's him. There were tons of sexy times, which is quite out of character for Violet, but she readily gave into her wild side, and it was a great distraction from the real problems. They had great chemistry together, and I was definitely rooting for them. Noah was very sweet and patient with her, and he always knew exactly how to play it. He never pushed her to reveal what she was hiding under the scarf, giving her whatever time and space she needed. He was hoping that she would eventually open up to him. Loved him for it.

Violet does gradually start sharing more of herself, but she still struggles to fully expose herself to him. She wants to - which was progression - but she still can't go all the way. I thought this was expertly handled and extremely well written. Her fear of being touched in certain places was raw and painful and the emotions dripped off the page. She would get so close to it, and then pull back, too afraid to go there, and it was so credible and realistic.

The characters and the complex emotions are what sold me on this story. I love a strong character- driven book with an underlying social message, which this was. The plot was fairly predictable and nothing that happened was a surprise, so I can't say the story itself blew me away. As I said, it was Violet's personal journey and her interaction with Noah and the other characters that hooked me.

I love Roxy, Harper, and Noah's sister Charlotte, and I fully anticipate future books about them. I can't wait to continue this series.

The writing was very good and the pacing was great - it flowed smoothly and I had a hard time putting it down.

I had some issues with the last 25% of the book which is why this is a 4 rather than 5-star rating, but I would still highly recommend it.

This book made me stop and think, and I always love that in a read. I felt very connected to the subject matter and I've been in a strong philosophical mood since I finished it. How many of us can say we aren't bothered about how the world views us aesthetically? That we truly don't care about our flaws? That if we were permanently scarred we wouldn't react as Violet did? Harper had found a way to overcome society's narrow classification of beauty, and she shone from the pages of this book.

The author included this dedication at the end which I absolutely loved - a great way to summarize the main message:

"To every person who has ever had a moment of self-doubt. May you always find the confidence to be yourself."

There is also a very honest, heartfelt statement at the back of the book from the author in relation to her own self-esteem, and I admire her greatly for the courage in sharing that with the world. Well done on a great book, and thank you for the very entertaining and highly-emotive read, Ms. Gordon.

I'd like to thank the publisher for supplying a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Naked", was a well written story with like able characters and storyline that was easy to become immersed in.
The story line follows two people both carrying a little baggage , well maybe one more that the other, but it is understandable.
Violet Walker, is the only child and daughter of award walker a construction mogul in Canada, she had been groomed since she was a child to take over the helm of the business, but this well educated , smart women has always thought it was her beauty that everyone saw; so when she feels that beauty is snatched away , so is her self esteem.
Violet was in a major car accident with her former fiancé , the only one to survive , she may have walked away alive unlike Steven, but she walked away terribly scarred and not just physically , Violet lost her confidence and her self esteem. Violet had to get away, so she picks up and moves out of the city of Toronto into a western suburb to hide, to escape the sympathetic looks and the so sorry for your loss and her one bright spot in the day is watching the hot guy next door redoing his home for. Her office window, watching the play of his muscles and how his tattoos move with them , but as much as her mind keeps her thinking of things she would like to do with him, it reverts back to how hideous she is with her scars .
Noah Yung has been working on re caring his of childhood home as a gift for his mother and is more than aware of his sexy neighbor ogling him, but how to introduce himself to someone who seems determined to remain a mystery?
Pretend to fall of the roof! Well it gets her attention and also gets him a date. Noah is willing to play along with Violets rules, no last names no personal history.

"Keeping their histories close to the vest was her attempt at self-preservation. Noah didn’t need to know what was going on under her clothing or in her messed-up brain. He didn’t want to know. Men didn’t date hideous. And as long as she could hide it, she could pretend to be normal."

Not only does Violet have her issues but so does Noah, his last girlfriend he loved but he was not good enough for her, a construction worker was obviously not enough because two weeks after breaking up with him she was engaged to her old college boyfriend , wealthy and suave. Noah is determined never to love with his heart again so no strings works.
These two however, all in love when they are not looking, but Violets determinations to hide almost ruins it all; but all ends fairly well thanks to Noah's kick ass friend Harper; a self appointed life coach determined , to help Violet to step up and realize she is more than her looks. Harper is a phenomenal character in this book and I am truly looking forward to her story !

He pressed a kiss to her forehead, his last words a whisper across her skin. "My Violet."

Ever since the accident that claimed the life of Violet Walker's fiancé and left her scarred, she has been practically hiding out in a small town on the outskirts of the city. She knows it's time to go back and take over the company her father built from the ground up. She even has a new project to pitch and she is determined to prove to the other board members that she is more than just a pretty face.

Noah is the boy next door, literally, who is intrigued by the mysterious woman who moved in beside the house he is renovating. After pulling a clever stunt to get her attention, he asks her on a date. She agrees on one condition, no getting personal with each other which includes not knowing last names. Of course Noah agrees because he's not interested in anything long term.

I loved Noah from the very beginning. He was up front with Violet about his attraction to her and the fact that he knew it was going to be casual. Noah and Violet were burning up the pages and their creativeness with their sexual encounters never got old.

Harper was my favorite secondary character. Her body positive attitude was encouraging, as was her confidence. That is exactly the way every woman should feel, no matter their body type and I am really glad to see it portrayed in this book. Harper is getting her own story next and I can guarantee I will read it.

Naked has a nice flow, hot scenes, and a good storyline with likeable characters. Recommended to fans of New Adult or Contemporary romance.

Great new series in the making. Love the characters especially Harper ( I am so looking forward to her story) Violet's life has been defined by her beauty and when she no longer has that, she seems to lose her self identity. Coupled with tragedy and her family's expectations of her makes her even more of a recluse. Noah is right there watching and waiting, giving her what she needs from him, patiently for her to open up even though he can see how blatantly her demons hold her back. But it is amazing how if we allow someone to see our true selves, allow ourselves to accept the reality of who and what we are and allow ourselves to be accepted by others, life and love can be ours for the taking. Being the weird one in my own life I can relate but I learnt that trying not to conform to society's standards of normal and self acceptance is the only way to be truly at peace, which is what Violet eventually learns about herself thanks to the people who love her.

The beginning of "Naked" begins with some humor as we watch how the heroine, Violet and the hero, Noah, meet. Neither wants a serious relationship but for different reasons. Before they go out Violet sets some ground rules. No personal information. No last names. Just a month long fling. (That's how long she'll be in this town before moving back to the city. But the best laid plans never go as planned. There is a spark between Violet and Noah that neither can deny. But Violet is hiding a big secret and she closes a big part of herself to Noah but he's willing to wait to earn her trust because he feels like what they have is more than just sex.
We watch as these two struggle with their feelings and what to do about them. Noah is self conscious because he's a blue collar construction worker while Violet, although he doesn't know what she does, he does know it's a job that pays well....very well. She dresses in expensive clothes and has the confidence and mannerisms of someone who comes from money.
But then her insecurities begin to show and Noah wants to help her but once again she closes him out. Violet does figure out that she's really happy for the first time when she's with Noah and his friends and away from the pressures of her life in the city. But she also feels an obligation to her family and her job in the city.
The author takes us through the journey of Violet and Noah and how they slowly work out their feelings and how they want to overcome the odds against them but they're not sure that they can.
Eventually Noah finds out Violet's secret and he doesn't find out from her. He is enraged and hates her for what she's been hiding. Violet feels guilty for what she's done and she wants to work to make it right but Noah has quit taking her calls and won't return her texts.
The good thing about this book is that it's stand alone with a HEA! I'm so tired of series. I wish the HEA was a little bit longer.
Another thing I liked about this book is the secondary characters. There are a group of friends and family that are strong secondary characters.
I would recommend this book if you are into character driven books, which I am.
I wouldn't pay the price that some author's are asking but i'd pay $2.99.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Whilst I did find the it a little drawn out and paced steadier than previous books I've read from Gina Gordon, she has brought us a likeable couple with a good chemistry, evident from their first encounter. Violet was a bit of a hit and miss character for me; whilst I totally understood her insecurities and appreciated her going for what she wanted, she did come over as a little shallow at times and there was quite a bit of drama thrown her way some of which I don't feel the story necessarily needed. Noah was lovely; his honesty and acceptance from the start that their trysts were purely casual, along with his patience and complete understanding of Violet's boundaries, wants and needs made him a hero to love. As the story progresses you get a real insight as to the amazing man he is and whilst Violet's insecurities form the crux of the story, Noah isn't without his own. Together they grow as time moves on and create some exceptionally steamy and creative memories together.

"We’re going to have sex on a toilet?"
"Educational purposes...I’ll show you how to tighten the seat when we’re done."

On the whole this was an enjoyable opener to Gina's Body and Soul series, and with some great secondary characters who all add value, I look forward to seeing what their stories bring.

All I can say is... this man has been invading my dreams lately and when I got to read Naked, I imagined him as Noah Young.

And boy he is one hot sizzling tamale!

Violet Walker sees herself as hideous. She looks at herself and can't help but feel guilty for living while her fiance is dead. Then she sees a man falling from his roof. And her heartbeat has never been the same.

Noah Young falls for her. He treats her as an equal, even though he doesn't know who she really is. He's curious why she's been holding back from him. Is it because he isn't good enough of a man for her?

One thing for sure though.. In my eyes, he was all man!

Gina Gordon was able to write a story that runs deep and offers more than meets the eye. Naked is a story about finding one's self-esteem, facing your fears, abandoning insecurities, ignoring the scars of the past and accepting the reality that is in front of you.

All the characters are endearing, especially Harper Jones. She's the opposite of Violet and the epitome of a modern woman. I read that the author has created Harper to remind her of the woman she wants to become, after all the anxieties she's been through. I thought it was brave of her to admit her insecurities. That's the reason why the story pulled me in.

And the hot steamy scenes? Whew! I need a heavy duty aircon to cool me up. And a bucket of ice cold Coke to quench my thirst. Seriously.

A fantastic read that is the beginning of what looks like a fantastic new series. While I enjoyed Noah and Violet's story, I'm already looking forward to Harper's story. That's how great all the characters are in this one. This story is filled with emotion and takes a hard look at how we view ourselves as well as each other. Definitely leaves you with lots to think about.

Naked is the last thing Violet Walker wants to be. After a tragic car accident left her scarred both physically and emotionally, she been reclusive and withdrawn. Her one form of entertainment is watching the sexy guy next door. When he catches her looking, she decides that maybe he would make for a great distraction as long as things don't get too serious. Best laid plans......

This is one I highly recommend.

ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is equal parts funny and emotional. Violet was dealing with a lot and my heart went out to her. I got a great kick out of her spying on her neighbor Noah though. Her inner monologues were a hoot.

Oh Noah. He was dealing with his own issues and once he set his sights on Violet their chemistry was sizzling.

Unfortunately Violet and Noah's issues seemed to drag out a bit in the middle and I felt it stunted the story before taking off again and keeping me totally engaged. In the end I was happy with how everything worked out and the message it had. I look forward to more from this author.

I recieved an ARC copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Violet has been in hiding for the last 6 months after a horrific accident, she's occupied her time by watching the hot neighbor next door remodeling his house. Noah, the handsome neighbor next door, creates a way to finally encounter the hiding beauty and they find they have instant chemistry. With plans of just four weeks of fun, Noah and Violet find themselves pulling each other's clothes off whenever and wherever they can, with just one catch, Violet is hiding something underneath her clothes and the scarves she wears everywhere. When Violet finally returns to life, and work, she doesn't expect to find Noah there and she definitely doesn't expect it when her heart starts making room for him.

I am on a roll with books surprising me lately and I am loving it. Naked, by Gina Gordon, absolutely surprised me when I realized it was so much more than just a romance. Main characters, Violet and Noah, had some great dialogue and both funny and extremely hot interactions. Seriously, their chemistry was totally off the charts. I loved the premise of this book, hot girl watching hot man through the window and finally meeting only to find she has some serious emotional damage. The best part was how Gina Gordon wrote the emotional aspects of this book, because mixed in with the romance and sex were some truly thought provoking moments for the main characters. I didn't expect the stuff going on with Violet and I definitely didn't expect Noah to be the person who helps introduce her to a world of acceptance. This book definitely starts out as just two people needing to get it on with one another, but it grows to be so much more. I liked the mix of personal life with family and friends as well, because it made the book feel all the more real. I absolutely enjoyed the hidden lesson of loving yourself mixed in with the story and how judgement and acceptance work for people. The characters all were different, their voices were distinct, and I enjoyed the two worlds of laborers versus wealth meeting in the middle. Plus, I just genuinely really liked Violet and Noah together. They sound like a cute couple and they had some great sex.

There is a lot going on in the book, as the first in a series I suspect it is due to setting the stage, but there are a lot of people to meet in a short period of time. What starts out fairly slow grows quickly and there are some characters I feel like I don't know or who have a past that are playing into the book, but aren't revealed yet. Some of the book reads as though there are characters we should already know well, but don't, so hopefully that means they'll be featured in upcoming novels. Hint Hint: Harper and Luke. There are is some fog around the relationship of Violet and Noah, because they just mostly have sex and somehow find a lot of emotions, but I'm willing to let that slide since I just liked them in general.

Told from alternating POV's, the story of Violet and Noah is a beautiful one. While it's definitely got some hot and heavy scenes, the overall story is of self acceptance and love. There are some intriguing characters and I will be sticking around to read more of the Body & Soul series.

I really liked the premise of this book, but I just didn't connect with the characters; mainly the female lead, Violet. I still enjoyed the book, and it looks like this is going to be a series, so I think I'll check out the next books in the series because I did like the writing.

Violet was in a car accident that left her with some bad scars on her neck and across her chest, and because of it she wears scarfs and clothes that cover up her scarred area, and she has very low self-esteem because she thinks she is hideous. Violet is use to everyone thinking she is so gorgeous, so she is afraid to show anyone her scars because she fears how people will think of her. Violet is sort of in hiding, and is sneaking peeks at her hot neighbor fixing up a house across from her house. Noah is the hot neighbor, and he knows Violet is watching him, so he does something to make her show herself, and of course there is an instant connection. Noah likes Violet, and Violet likes Noah, but Violet has issues and Noah has had a previous heartbreak, so they are both weary, but the decide to have no strings sex for the month that Violet is going to be in town before she heads back to the city for her job. Violet wants to keep any personal stuff out of the "relationship" because she is rich, and since she isn't ready to show anyone her scars, she doesn't want Noah to know her last name, so he can't look her up and know about her money and the accident.

So, the problem I had with Violet is I felt she is too focused on looks, and I don't mean just hers, but some of the thoughts she had about Noah's sister, Charlotte, were very superficial. Just because someone doesn't dress sexy doesn't mean they are invisible and forgettable, and Violet was so use to everyone thinking she is so beautiful, she doesn't know who she is without her beauty, so her thought process was getting on my nerves. I loved that Violet is a great business woman, and I do like that she goes after what she wants, and I liked her family dynamic with her parents. Noah was a good guy, and I liked his family and friends. Violet and Noah definitely steam up the sheets, or I suppose the streets, since Violet has a thing about public sex. Violet and Noah do have some sweet moments, and I did like them together. I liked their banter with each other. I did enjoy reading Violet's journey of growth.

I think this will be a good series, and I'm interested in Charlotte's story, and Harper and Luke's story.

Another thing that bothered me.....SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why in the heck didn't Violet tell Noah that she had no intention of buying the house for her company!? If she would have said she wasn't going to do anything to the house, and she was going to find some way for all of them to be happy, I'm sure Noah wouldn't have had such a problem with it. Violet just didn't think things through enough.

I received an email from "Team Loveswept", recommending this book based on my having requested and reviewed Butterfly Dreams by A. Meredith Walters. Based on the fact that I completely and utterly adored that book, and after reading the blurb for Naked, I jumped at the chance to read and review it.

We have to enjoy life, Violet. Enjoy it while we can because you never know when it's going to come to an end.

Naked is a heartfelt, sometimes funny, sometimes sweet, journey of self-discovery for both Violet and Noah. Violet's identity has revolved around her beauty, but for her it's been a curse. She's working in a man's world and wants nothing more than to be taken seriously, for her brains and her business sense. But after a terrible car accident she's withdrawn from her life and has basically been in hiding, no longer the confident business woman she once was. Noah is floundering, trying to reconcile the life he wants with the life he thinks his father expected of him. While Violet suffers from physical scars, Noah has emotional scars he hasn't completely come to terms with.

When Noah and Violet's "relationship" began, it was just supposed to be fun, for a short time. But slowly things started to get more complicated as feelings, on both sides, begin to change. But Violet sticks to the "rules" of the agreement, and when her sabbatical is up she leaves Noah and heads back to her real world. But just when you think you've got your life all figured out, it has a way of turning it upside down and showing you what you really need.

Violet and Noah both have a lot of baggage they are dealing with, and it makes for some tense and frustrating moments. But they also have a great love and respect for each other, they just needed some time and distance to realize it.

Noah really grabbed me from the start, and I loved his character throughout. Violet was at times slightly irritating, I wanted her to open up to Noah sooner and trust him more. But it was nice to see her character grow and come into her own as the book progressed.

It's also great when there is an awesome cast of supporting characters, and there were quite a few in Naked. Harper is an amazing character, so strong and confident, we need more like her. I'm not going to stop eating the things I love just because society tells me I'll get fat. Amen sister, amen.

All in all Naked is a really well written book, with likeable and engaging characters, and a great storyline that will make you stop and think.

There were some aspects of this story that I really liked but there were also some that I really disliked. I was back and forth throughout the entire read and had a difficult time figuring out how I felt about it.

I liked the fact that Violet was trying to overcome a traumatic event and the scars that it left both physically and emotionally. However, I was not a fan of the way it was executed in the book. There were way to many contradictions and not enough growth for the majority of the story. On minute she was saying that she hated how her employees couldn't see past her beauty and that she was more than a pretty face and the next she was insecure because she no longer thought of herself as beautiful. Yes, she had stuff to deal with but instead of coming across as someone learning and moving on she came across really whiny and immature at times. For someone who was the CEO of a major company this was not a good thing.

I also liked the whole neighbours/no string attached/no personal information angle and thought it would make for some exciting, sexy reading. Again, it fell a little short for me. I couldn't quite feel the chemistry between Violet and Noah as much as I wanted to. The steamy scenes felt a little mechanical or robotic to me and not so sexy. I'm sorry but the subway bathroom scene...GROSS...absolutely nothing hot or sexy about that. It was actually quite repulsive. Sex in a dirty, public subway bathroom no thank you! From there the sex seemed more about action instead of feeling or emotion.

I did however really like Luke and Harper and found myself wanting to know their story. Hopefully their story will come in a future instalment. Harper was by far my favourite character in this book and she was only a secondary character.

I didn't hate Violet and Noah's story but I didn't love it either. I think with a bit of tweaking it could have been so much more than it was. In the end it was average but I do feel like there is potential with this series to get better.

Violet was in a very bad accident that killed her fiance and left her devastating scars. She has a little bit of survivors guilt and her self esteem takes a hit because of the scars. She cared for her fiancee but was not in love with him. She takes a few months off to recover and to jump start a project for the family's contruction business. She has been spying on her next door neighbor for months. He fakes a fall to get her to come over. Noah was renovating the family home that was lost after the death of his father. They agree to not exhange last names and any personal history. The chemistry between the two is instant. The story started off pretty good but it faded in and out during the middle. It slowed down a lot for me. They both had insecurities that were pretty realistic. I have read other books by MS Gordon and enjoyed them a lot. I liked the other characters in the book and would love to read more about them.

Naked was an OK read.
I liked Violet character, she had insecurities and fears that held her back from living life to the fullest.
Noah was a total sweetheart, he was supportive, sexy, loved his family and the perfect guy for Violet.
I wasn't a fan of Violet keeping secrets, so when the truth came out I totally understood Noah's pain.

Overall I enjoyed this heartwarming story, I was happy Violet and Noah found their happily ever after with communication and trust.

Looking forward to the next book in the Body & Soul series :)

I'm thinking Noah appreciates his woman getting a tattoo that represents their relationship, "she took a deep breath and said, “I want a dandelion.”Noah’s heart seized. They had had the dandelion conversation. They had effed in a sea of them. He couldn’t help but get a swell in his chest from ego and appreciation that the symbol had everything to do with him." I enjoyed this book I loved Noah he was sexy.

The emotion just sneaks up on you….

Violet Walker and Noah Young are struggling with problems and decisions that are going to affect the rest of their lives. Little did they know their physical attraction would lead to something so deep and powerful…

“F**k. Rinse. Repeat.”

Violet has not had a good year. She is recovering from a devastating car accident that affected her physically and emotionally. Her confidence shaken to its core, she’s working to rebuild who she once was while making plans for her future. Little did she know that the incredibly hot and sexy Noah was going to become part of those dreams. So much for keeping things hot and light...

Noah loves working in construction and is struggling with decisions about his own hopes for his career and those he feels are expected of him. Hooking up with the mysterious, beautiful Violet is a welcome distraction. Their encounters are beyond hot. What these two get up to and where will have you reading with the fan set to high. His growing feelings for her battles against the defenses she has put between herself and the rest of the world. He is, however, more than happy to chip away at that armor, one kiss at a time…

“She was hiding something, and history had taught him that nothing good could come from a woman with secrets.”

Secrets. I agree wholeheartedly with Noah, secrets cause so many problems and heartache. Like a fortune teller, it’s like he predicted the future. Luckily, as a reader, I was privy to them all, though I’m not sure if that made it easier or harder to see the struggles they went through. I wanted to shake both of them, gently of course, and sit them down for a good, long fireside chat. I had to get past all that but once I did the emotional story really opened up for me. Violet was hurting and so alone in her agony. It hurt to see, to feel, the pain she was in. My admiration for her grew; watching her slowly open up to her friends and family—even strangers—to emerge stronger than ever.

The final scenes had my heart aching and cheering at the same time as everything finally came together in an ending that felt so right. The first in a new series, I’m looking forward to learning more about these quirky, interesting characters… ~ Diane, 4 stars

~~~
Violet Walker has been in hiding. Technically, I suppose, she’s been working on her first big project as CEO of her family company, but the reality is that, after a devastating car accident, she’s holed up in a small suburban town to hide. In the meantime, though hidden from the rest of the world, she’s desperately trying to find herself. The accident stripped her of everything she thought she was, and the person she thought she was meant to be. While she comes to terms with the person she actually is, she spends her days ogling the sexy neighbor.
When Noah Young weasels a dinner invitation out of the gorgeous new neighbor who has been spying on him from across the street, he thinks he’s found the answers to his problem. He’s lonely. He’s not interested in a lasting commitment. He doesn’t plan to stick around long enough for that—but he can’t deny his attraction to the sexy minx who is equally excited to explore a physical relationship with him.
It doesn’t take long before the sexual attraction morphs into something deeper, and the secrets that were never supposed to be a big deal are suddenly lurking out there like a giant bulldozer waiting to tear this delicate new relationship apart. These feelings will either destroy or heal, but the path to either result isn’t an easy one.
I overall really enjoyed this book, but I wasn’t always sure what to make of Violet. I didn’t always understand where her insecurities were coming from—she played both sides of a coin, and after a while, it became kind of tiresome. There was a theme here that was kind of beaten to death for me, and I kept waiting for Violet to put her big girl panties on and deal with the hand she’d been dealt.
I loved Noah almost immediately—flirty and incorrigible with that hot as hell dirty mouth, it was impossible for me not to love him. I loved his devotion to his family and friends, and how patient he was with Violet. He’s dealing with some insecurities of his own, but he’s mostly got them sorted out. He’s not afraid to take the fall again, even if he knows the impact might kill him.
Together, they’re scorching hot. Whatever they lack in communication, in honesty, they make up for in physical chemistry tenfold. This was one of those books that was uncomfortable for me to read in public because of all the squirmy, breathless feels it kept doling out. There was a sweetness to Violet and Noah that made their heartbreak that much more emotional. I was rooting for them even as I wanted to knock some sense into them.
One of my favorite things in this book was the enormous amount of charm Ms. Gordon gave her side characters. They were all so fun and funny—adding a tremendous amount of depth to the story. However, my very favorite person in this whole book was Harper. I’d read a Harper book in a heartbeat because that girl was a trip. I adored her. I wish I was her or, at the very least, had a friend like her. She singlehandedly took this story to the next level for me.
In the end, it was the last quarter of the book that gripped me most intensely, and it was really a delight to watch Violet come into her own. It was an emotional journey and—despite how frequently I was frustrated with her over the course of the book—I was so proud of Violet. Despite a few bumps in the road, there was a lot to love about this book. It’s a sweet, sexy love story wrapped around a story about learning to love yourself. Definitely worth checking out. ~ Shelly, 3.5 stars
After surviving a car accident five months ago that took the life of her fiancé, Violet Walker retreated to Stillbride to recover and to plan for her company's upcoming expansion. As a city builder, Violet's dream has always been to move her company into residential building as well so that they can expand their market. She is temporarily in Stillbride to plan a housing development. When she is not doing that or reflecting on the scars left by the accident, she is ogling her neighbor, Noah.
Noah is rebuilding his childhood home for his mother to move back into. He is aware of Violet's interest and precipitates that by faking an accident that forces a meeting between them. He has been intrigued by his reclusive neighbor. And he is even more intrigued when the two embark on a temporary, no-history, no-last names affair until Violet has to return to her normal life and take over her father's company.
Of the two characters, I really liked Noah. I understood his insecurities with being a have-not and I admired all that he wanted to do for his mother and the bond between himself and his sisters. His longtime friendship with his friend, Luke, and Luke's business partner, Harper, round out his existence. He is a steady, dependable, and magnetic guy with a great sense of humor and a strong sense of patience. Violet was a little harder to understand. She was handed many privileges and there is no doubt that she worked hard also to attain her position. But the accident undermined her character's strength for maybe too long in the book. Even when she returns to work, despite the fact that she knows that her capability and skills as part of the company have nothing to do with her physical appearance, she still allows it to hamper her. In addition, her guilt over the circumstances of losing her fiancé are built up as a point of tension between her and Noah. But in the end, it amounted to not much at all. With that said, I am really looking forward to Luke and Harper's story, if it happens.
Now this is a great start to a series!!! Loved that the author took the time to develop so many of the other characters (Harper, Charlotte); I can't wait to read their stories!
Violet is hiding herself away in a small town following a tragic accident that cost her fiance his life and scarred her own body as a constant reminder of the argument they had prior to the crash. She has shut out everyone since the accident; so much so that no one outside of the medical profession has ever seen her scars.
Enter Noah, the strong, devastatingly handsome neighbor who is rehabbing the house next store for his mother. Noah knows that Violet has been watching him as he works and after several weeks finally finds a way to get her to talk to him. After formally meeting her, he is immediately attracted to her and convinces her to go on a date with him without actually giving her an avenue to say no. The two hit it off and decide to enter into a sex with benefits arrangement for the next several weeks while Violet is in town.
Violet's time in this small town is limited. She is taking over as CEO of her father's company following his Alzheimer's diagnosis which is now impacting his ability to work. She is using the last few weeks to find a way to move forward with her life which has seemed to have been stuck on pause since the accident.
The author makes the connection between Violet and Noah so strong that you as the reader never want those few weeks to end. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, but Noah and Violet aren't over. There real lives prohibit them from going their separate ways.
Great character development: Violet's reaction to the accident and to her scars was completely believable. Noah just seems like an all around nice guy who wants to find happiness after being burned by his last ex.
