Some lessons are hard learned and this is one that Kathryn has mastered. Abused at a young age, her subsequent rescue and acceptance into a reclusive magical community should have given her story a happy ending. But there are dark secrets hiding within the kingdom threatening to come to light. While fighting to protect the throne from the dangers working to unbalance the stable peace, Kathryn is confronting the prison of her past. A physical battle she can win. But she faces a demon army with none at her back. How does one overcome a legion alone? Especially when that legion finds allies…
This is an awesome book. I can not get enough. It has all the classics. Magic, relationships and an orphan girl who does know her past. I want to know more. I read this book in one evening on my day off. I could not put it down. Now I keep wondering what happens next. This book was definitely worth the money.

I enjoyed this story! And I recommend it to others! I loved following Kathryn’s journey as a child to a teenager as she grew up. I like how all the characters were distinct and pretty easy to keep up with.
This is a good story of sorts young folks who grow up learning how to meet others and make friendships turn into a family life that protects each other in the daily routines in life.
Despite enjoying the book, there were many flaws and things I did not like about it. The explanations are weak, the world building is not the best, and the character building leaves something to be desired. However, I enjoyed the concept of the novel and it does have potential. :/
So I really enjoyed this book! I enjoyed the number of characters and how the author didn't lose track of them all. I liked the world, and the conflict as well.
