This was amazing, I really loved it from beginning to the end. My only complaint is I need to see the girls doing more work as friends, cus for as much as they say they love each other mmmm they talk crazy to one another and be hiding a lot of things. Harvey clocked the dynamic so well but I also think it’s a lot of love between them all too. Asha’s growth in this one was so good but I’m hoping everyone else gets their arc too because for as much as they scream at Asha they all got stuff that needs work too. I can’t wait for the next book

No spoilers!!

As a Patreon member we have the experience of reading live as she writes. This has been an amazing journey as each book release surpasses the previous one. Granger gives us a fantasy masterpiece that leaves us an awwww. We meet new characters, explore new worlds and uncover so many secrets in this book. I hope everyone enjoys this 700+ page read because she wrote the heck outta this one.

YN Belly. Velma with the fangs. Quan Mittens. Harmless Harvey. The First 48 University 😂

I wasn’t sure how Mortal Affairs and Alchemy of Souls were going to merge their worlds, but somehow it worked even better than I expected.

We finally got answers, the side characters became even more lovable, and Babbyyyy Princess Ayria was easily one of the biggest breakout stars of the book. I need more of her immediately. Who would of thought, I would love Seth & Bellemy’s bromance over Namir lol

The POVs also flowed so much better this time around. One of my biggest complaints in the earlier books was how hard it could be to connect all the moving pieces, but this installment tied every storyline together in a way that felt seamless.

With every book, you can see Granger’s storytelling getting sharper. It’s obvious she’s listening to feedback and leveling up with each release, and I love seeing that growth as a reader.

Ugh…I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of this series

Okayyy so it never takes me this long to finish a book so that says something. I didn’t begin to enjoy the book until the 60% mark and had to stop and read another book at about 30% because I was bored with how long it took to get things moving. My opinion is that Granger is a chaotic writer. Things are just all over the place and you leave with more questions than answers. I did enjoy all the other family members getting introduced and then all finally coming together. But come on, the lack of chapters from Maggie was crazy. For a book that’s supposed to mainly be about her the focus on her throughout the series has been minimal. Her reappearance in this book and what happened while she was away was anticlimactic. Hopefully this will be something more discussed in the next book but I doubt it since it seems like the focus of the next book will be Danielle and possibly Ayira. The explanation of how Harvey came to discover what he did about Quan made no sense to me;by looking at a map and following his movements? Did I miss something?? Raven becoming who she is by Maggie previously turning day to night? No further insight or discussion of that. I just hope book 6 will tie things together like book 4 kind of did with this book.

This book was addicting

I could not stop reading and when I did, I found myself hurrying to come back to see what happens next! The world building, character introduction and development, the humor, the buildup and anticipation of events, and the overall storytelling is stellar. I was entertained from beginning to end and can’t wait to see what happens when book 6 drops!

758 PAGES LATER… and WOW. 😭🔥 The Souls of Alchemy was a straight MASTERPIECE. The way Books 1–4 all came together in Book 5?! Watching everything connect and seeing everyone come together had me SAT. This book was absolutely INSANE, beautifully written, and so worth every single one of those 758 pages. Granger DID HER BIG ONE with this one! 👏🏽 The storytelling, the connections, the moments where everything finally started clicking AND THE QUAN AND NAMIR TEA?! 🤯🤯🤯🤯I was eating it UP. I’m actually sad it’s over because HOW am I supposed to just move on after that?! 😭 Book 6, I need you EXPEDITIOUSLY because Book 5 just took this entire series to another level. Absolutely amazing. No notes. 🔥

1,000 out of 10 Highly Recommend

Baby, Granger had us everywhere with this read but it was so worth it. Loving how the characters are continuously growing through the series and not just stuck. I feel like with every book I gain a new favorite character and Auntie Rae takes the cake with this one. Buckle up and have the ride of your life.

3.5 ⭐️ rounded down. This is my least favorite in the series so far. The book didn’t get good until the 60% mark. There was simply too much backstory. I kept waiting for the action to pick up, and while there were exciting moments, they were too spread out between long stretches of setup and history (this shouldn’t be the case in book 5 of a series). Maggie also disappeared for most of the book and it took too long for her to re-appear. I am still excited to see where the Author takes the next book. However, please spare all the backstory and let the characters turn up!

Wow!!! Absolutely loved it!!

I really tried to savor this book and read it slow, so it took longer than usual. The amount of twist and turns this book has was remarkable! I’m glad that Maggie got to meet her extended family, aunts, uncle’s, cousins and the whole gang. It was nice finally seeing her slightly grow up, after her encounter in the desert. Sometimes you forget she’s in her 30s by how she acts. But again that is largest due to her mother and grandfather constantly keeping her away from the world.

There’s so much I can say about this book, from Quan’s identity to the Princess and her twin and the whole gang! Absolutely love this series and can’t wait for book 6 and 7!

this was a ride

Idk if I’m just obsessed with granger or what but this book was sooo good. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. I think quan story is going to to be so interesting and one of my favorites. It seems like the only time I like Asha is when she’s with Silas lol. I would love for Ayira and Seth to maybe be more than just sex. I think he could also help with when she goes to save Danielle. Himora is so strange but I like her. Bellamy is my man my man lol. I love how everyone came together to help each other the guys and girls. My girl Lovely is a mess and Carmilla could’ve stayed wherever she was. I feel like I don’t know much about Draco that I would love to hear more from him. Overall 10/10 I would recommend it’s a great world to be drawn into. Oh and I LOVEEE auntie Raven lol and her family. Clarence and his humor I would never get tired of ok go read yall!!!!!

This book was everything and then some. I thought Mortal Affairs had my whole heart, but now I honestly don’t know which one sits at the top—they’re neck and neck in the best way. I savored this story as slowly as I could because it was THAT good.

The way Granger’s mind works is unreal. She forces you to pay attention, to connect dots, to catch the subtle easter eggs she drops so casually—making you wonder what’s coming next or who’s about to step onto the page.

At this point, we can all agree: this has BIG SCREEN written all over it.

it’s over?!

I definitely need a reread. This book slowly became my second fav. Mortal affairs is still by far my fav but this is a close second. Forever a fav of the multiple POVs. Thoroughly enjoyed the different layers to this book. Granger sure knows how to write a jaw dropping story.

I can’t believe I have to wait for the next book this has been a journey. Every character is so interesting and there is a story behind them.

Nothing is ever what it seems. Every situation is linked in some strange way and you just have to put it together. It feels real. One of my favorite series this year hands down.

everythingggggg

This book was absolutely amazing and easily a five-star read! It only came out two days ago, and I already cannot wait to read it again, or get my hands on the sixth book. Ms.Granger, you did your big one once again! loved seeing the growth and development of all the characters. Maggie, Namir, Asha, Quan and even Souxie and Harmless Harvey had me completely invested. Every character brought something special to the story, and their development was written so well. From the fighting and action to the romance, emotions, and unexpected moments, everything came together perfectly. This entire book was truly chef’s kiss.I was hooked from beginning to end and did not want to put it down. I’m completely in love with this series and these characters. Now I’m impatiently waiting for book six because I need to know what happens next! Ms.Granger you never disappoint.

I don’t know how this entire story is going to be wrapped up in just two more books. That is not enough unless they are like 1,000 pages each. Just start from the beginning and keep reading. My oh my!!!!!! I love DCU

Granger, This One Hit Different, Twin!

This is what you'd get if Hogwarts had cousins with a lot of swag and whole lot more mythical energy. Thee Illustrious DCU grounds isn't simply just the background — it's the heart and soul of everything you want in a bIack fantasy campus where mythology comes alive, magic is everyday life, and every damn doorway holds another mystery waiting to become a journey of a lifetime.

It's the kind of fictional place that makes you wish admissions were real because who wouldn't want to enroll? It literally lives rent free in your imagination long after you've finished reading! The world-building is layered, the stakes keep rising, and every revelation makes you even more invested in what comes next. Granger's pen game is unmatched.

Another Banger

I missed Drew Collin’s so bad! This book did not disappoint. I don’t think I’ve ever read a Granger book i didn’t laugh at. I had a time. This was a buddy read and when i say we had a time discussing this book and giving real time reactions? Tuh understatement.

This took me longer than normal to finish. It didn’t start getting good until what? Half way through. If you ever watched the show FROM this the vibes it was giving. None of the characters communicate and always withholding things. Friends don’t seem like friends. Left with more questions than answers. Asha still gets on my nerves and nothing really is resolved with her and her envy of Maggie. Harvey was the perfect character to call things out. Hate how the characters sometimes don’t listen to what another person is saying and change the topic to something completely irrelevant. So many things didn’t get looped back to certain points. Birdie pointless character .. why was she ever introduced .. oh her son .. which we don’t get to hear from because isn’t he an oracle ? (can’t remember) Maggie mom annoying. Love Namir .. always loved Himora in last book .. a few other characters i enjoyed as well. I just expected a little bit more and hopefully the next book doesn’t add more mysteries & pointless characters without answers.

My rating is based on how long it took me to get through the book and the way it was written. It read it on and off for 2.5 months (20 full days) with other books in between because the story was moving a bit slow and didn’t get good until after 60% of the way through. Also the fact that Maggie and Ayira aren’t heard from for 10 chapters!! Granger’s writing is all over the place for me. But I had to see how my girls, DCU, and the Mortal Affairs dept would tie in. The characters and storyline always leave me wanting more and with so many questions. This book took me through it! 😩 but I still plan to read her next ones.

Twists and Turns!!

I love the entire series. The introduction of new characters is chef's kiss. If it were not for a few grammatical errors, I would have rated it 5 stars. Aunt Raven is one of my favorite characters. Including Lake Lanier as a portal opening pays homage to Georgia history; I love it!

Back at Drew Collins and I am not mad! I loved every minute of this book. Diving deeper into our original character and bringing in the characters from Mortal Affairs just tied everything together.

Meeting our new character Aryia brought a pleasant surprise. Granger took our girl Maggie through it. And would it really be our fantastic 4 if Asha didn't stress me the hell out!

Can't wait for more
