I love how you can read something uplifting and it switches your mindset so you end up having a better day than you might have otherwise. What you focus on becomes more prevalent in your life, so why not choose to focus on something beautiful? Chic Inspiration is a collation of mini-essays from my blog How to be Chic, focused on the topic of creating your own inspiration to live a magical life.
I love to write books about living a fabulous life without spending a lot of money.
I adore mindset work and how we get to be happier and more successful just from looking at things from a different angle. We get to change our circumstances if we want to, and change our thoughts as well.
My goal when I write my books is to provide inspiration, ideas, and reminders for my readers so that they can wear their rose-tinted sunglasses as they live their life. Just like I do!
I have found that everything works out better when you are positive as much as possible. When you expect things to work out for the best. When you have gratitude for all you have. And when you are always looking at how to make your life better, and richer (in all ways). In doing all these things you are elevating the happiness levels of those around you as well as yourself.
Of course life isn't perfect and we all go through sad or difficult times, however I believe when we are starting from a base level of positivity, it makes those times easier to bear.
I love the saying attributed to Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary, who told her that her job was to spread a carpet of happiness wherever she went. I have taken this on as my own life's motto and with my writing too.
I hope you enjoy reading my books and get loads of golden nuggets from them. Happy reading and please let me know your thoughts or leave a review!
If you've ever wanted a light primer on how to be a fatphobic tradwife with a really good haircut, you're in luck, because this is that book.
Apparently, it's a collection of blog posts (which is evident from the text, btw) that will teach you such things as:
* smiling makes you more attractive to men * showing only 40% of your skin will seduce men * perfume (spicy floral only!) will make you appear 10 pounds lighter * did I mention that smiling makes you more attractive?
There's also a multi-page quote/list from a (now defunct for some reason I can't possibly imagine) website called, and I kid you not, "The Princess Portal" that will tell you that princesses are perfect and look good even when they're sleeping.
And then there's this gem under "sexual etiquette" that I can't even summarize without my eyeballs falling completely out of my head:
"Men are hunters. Men love the chase. You have to be that prize. The prize that that person will want to come home to."
I boggle.
Here's the thing: I picked this up because the subtitle is "Imaginative Ways to Live a More Magical Life". Had there been literally any of that, this would probably still be only two stars because there's not much that can balance out being told by a former princess (lowercase p) that I'm supposed to be the prey for a feral hunter man, but at least it would have met some expectations. As it was, this was 80 pages of Not That, which probably should have stayed a blog. And had someone else write the description, because THIS is NOT that.
But at least now I know that my positive mental attitude is bound to get me laid.*
*note: but I should not do that so I can remain a "prize". UGH.
I think I highlighted this entire book! It is so good, so full of practical ways and little things we can do each day to live more satisfying and content lives. Do not be fooled by this title- it is so much better and richer than it makes you think. It actually has little to do with fashion and everything to do with mindset. I cannot recommend this enough! I just bought another one by the dame author.
As with all of Fiona's books I was inspired while reading. Only thing is, I was able to highlight quotes but I couldn't download as I usually do. Otherwise really great book. Very accessible and motivational. There is little that Fiona suggests that I am unable to do. Fiona is inspired by French Chic and I'm more Boho Neo Soul. When she makes a suggestion, I simply translate so the idea suits my interests and aspirations.
I love the beauty and inspiration of this book. If you long to be more beautiful, gracious, and elegant on both the inside and outside, this is a great book to glean from! I want to read everything the author has written about the chic life and how to live it.
