Harrison Phillips is an English author of horror, sci-fi and fantasy. His literary influences range from Clive Barker and Stephen King, to Jack Ketchum and Edward Lee. He was born and raised in Birmingham, England, where he still resides with his long-suffering wife, their two daughters, and a schnauzer named Minnie.
Entertaining slasher in which a group of bobble-headed children's performers go nuts and start murdering children and parents alike. Grotesque violence and tongue-in-cheek humor make it an easy and fun read that could be finished in a couple of hours. Some nice attention to detail is given to the various set pieces, and the studio block setting is well used, but the narrative felt less focused than the "Die Hard in a children's theater" plot of the first book. Still, an enjoyable time for slasher fans.
Firstly thank you Harrison for sending me a copy of this 🫶🏻 I was one of the only people who guessed a second was coming & I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the cover ahead of release 😮💨 Secondly. This was every bit as fun & a lot more brutal as the first!!
Chuckle & friends are BAAAACK!! And a hell of a lot more vicious this time around! Chuckle wants to finish what he started & he most definitely won’t be falling from any rooftops this time!
With the help of Mimi, Bobbles & Noodle they commit the most gruesome massacre…will anyone make it out alive?
👏🏼😮💨 loved it! It’s like an amped up, more gruesome FNAF! I said it last time but I truly believe this series would make a great horror movie/ tv series!
Thanks again for sending me this, I’m so happy to have the duo signed & in my collection 🫶🏻🤎
More of what you got in the first Cuddle Buddies, but without the surprising gut punch of children being killed off mercilessly. Not because they are not killed in this one - because they most definitely are - but because the reader now knows what to expect, so it does not have the same impact this time around.
Otherwise there is gore, dismemberment, and characters that sound way too much like the Pizza Showtime animatronics who scarred me in my youth in Perth. If you liked the first one, you'll also enjoy this one.
3.5 (Rounding Up to 4) Ghosts in the Machine for Cuddle Buddies Rebooted.
Bobbles held the flap of skin up to his own face as if he was about to wear it. Only, what with his massively oversized head, it clearly wouldn’t fit. Still, he lined up one of the empty eye holes with his own eye. “Peekaboo!” he said. “I see you!”
It’s been 3 weeks today that I’ve posted a review in the wild, and I can’t think of a better book to come out of hiding for. 🤌🏼
Animatronics that go rogue while filming a kids show?! Please and thanks!
The first Cuddle Buddies was in my top 10 reads of 2025. So when Phillips announced the second one, I audibly squealed and dropped everything.
Cuddle Buddies Rebooted was everything I could’ve wanted and more. It’s depraved. It hurt to read. I skimmed scenes. I said “oh shit” and “hell yeah” at least 30x each. It will be triggering for a lot of people. But wanna know what else it has? Some solid fking storytelling.
If there’s one thing about Harrison Phillips, he knows how to hit every trigger and still come through with a phenomenal story, making even the most depraved books binge-worthy.
Highly recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cuddle Buddies Rebooted releases on Friday the 24th. Preorder is available now. Get it asap.
Remember when children’s TV was supposed to be SAFE? Yeah… about that. 😳
I have officially learned one very important lesson:
NEVER TRUST THE CUTE ANIMATRONIC.
Cuddle Buddies was once the biggest children’s show on television until a massacre at Millsborough House made the world forget it ever existed.
Fast forward to now, and someone has decided that resurrecting a beloved children’s franchise is a fantastic idea.
Because apparently nobody in this universe has ever watched a horror movie. 😂
The new production company has the rights, the animatronics… and one tiny little problem: the new robots aren’t working quite right. So naturally, they decide to copy the original programming into them.
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
👀 Literally. Everything.
What I really enjoyed about this premise is the contrast between something designed to be comforting and nostalgic and something absolutely horrifying lurking underneath it. There’s something uniquely creepy about taking colorful children’s entertainment and turning it into a nightmare. And if you’re someone who enjoys animatronic horror, bloody horror, creepy children’s entertainment, and stories that make you question why you ever trusted a smiling mascot, this one should definitely be on your radar.
During a time when I fear I am settling for scraps...... Harrison Phillips drops a banger of a book. I really felt like this book took everything I thought was so fun and good about the first book and made it even better, I dont have a reason to care for these children but I do because Emily cares for them and so I do too. My only complaint is that there's still a little bit of that "the x one, who's name is x" which feels a little too over explainy to me BUT I will say it's a lot better compared to the first book which was Very focused on it. This one sheds its Banana Splits Movie inspiration and just goes full slasher which makes it far more fun and fleshed out of an idea.
Thank you so much to Harrison Phillips for reaching out to ask if I wanted an arc!! My reply with omggg yes please!! And I was not disappointed! The first book of this is one of my favourite splatterpunks of all time!! This was a wild rollercoaster of gore, blood and guts!! Highly highly recommend this author as one of my top splatter authors and definitely recommend the cuddle buddies duology!! Go and check his books on KU and amazon!! Give this guy some love as all of his books are so underrated. They are brilliant!!
As much as I do prefer the original over the reboot, Phillips' voice and the tongue-in-cheek meta narration he gives added a new layer to their story that kept them very much even in my mind.
Did you like the original? You should have, so I'm going to assume yes. Then you're going to like this one just as much.
