Quick skim. Interesting info about hormones and their roles. It was eye opening in a few areas & made me say, "Oh! So that's what's wrong with me!" It's pretty much a long and scientificly documented promotion for their unique product. But isn't that what most all of the health and wellness books are? Has anyone out there actually tried this pellet thing? I'd be interested to talk to a real person with experience with it.
I agree with this books message. So many of my patients are scared of hormone therapy, unfortunately, due to the WHI study in 2002. I have first hand seen the many benefits of hormone replacement therapy. I do agree with a lot of this books message of how much HRT can improve so many uncomfortable symptoms and be cardio protective, prevent osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s among many other benefits. I subtracted 2 stars because the book cover is so cheesy and the author bragging about his own company in the book loses a sense of credibility.
I’m giving this book four stars because I happen to agree with this message, which is that Americans are overmedicated and causes of diseases are not addressed. I have not yet tried bio identical hormone replacement therapy, but I am open to the idea.
I’ve read this information from other sources and I am an advocate for natural health practices.
However, the cheesy cover, appalling grammar and touting of his own company undermine his credibility in this particular book. Read Christiane Northrup instead.
I’ve read enough books to know that hormone balance is essential to functioning like a human being, but this book answers all the “why’s” without all the medical jargon.
The first chapter sets up the rest of the book. Big Pharma, the FDA, and the WHO are all linked to the reason most of us are on multiple drugs and still feeling like crap. They earn their millions from our ignorance and gullibility that the newest medication on the market is the next miracle drug to cure our ills.
Wrong.
It’s all about the hormones.
Plain, simple explanations for how each hormone functions in relieving the typical aging symptoms (weight gain, poor sleep, lethargy, muscle weakness, etc.) followed by patient cases and testimonials make this little gem easy to read.
Sick and tired of being sick and tired? Read this book and make your own decisions.
The sub-title pretty much explains the theme: avoiding over-medication through natural hormone balance. I was very interested in the thyroid balance and how different hormones affect overall health. The book is written mainly for a female audience yet I found the sections relating to men's health of particular interest.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It helped educate about how overmedicated Americans are and how quickly our medical community is to put a Band-Aid on symptoms with medications. There were a lot of takeaways but I do also believe this book was highly biased by the creator of the pellet. It is a very quick read with a lot of testimonies on balancing hormones for optimal health.
Interesting read, solidified everything I have learned about hormone therapy. Wish Dr Donovitz would have included a section on women and pregnancy in regards to hormones and pelleting. Many women who need HRT are pre-natal, natal, and immediately post-natal.
I’m a world of natural everything, it’s an interesting read. A good reminder to work and seek out a doctor that is wholistic in their approach and there are solutions beyond the western “standard” approach
This book was informative and informational. For anyone considering bio identical hormone replacement therapy I feel it is a must read as part of your research.
Definitely answered my questions about a lot of things. Would recommend this to anyone seeking answers in their life to problems that are not being helped by prescriptions. This is for men, and women. Also those with brain injury and PTSD. Amazing how the whole body is affected.
Re-rating: HRT is not for everyone! Please be aware of the side effects. They may be worse than you felt before. Also those that seek treatment, may be getting additional hormones that benefit them. One hormone alone may be worse. Ask a lot of questions, and beware!
