2,5⭐️ rounded down, because compared to some other 3⭐️ books I’ve read I simply cannot round up.
The story starts off really strong with that first chapter.
You know something happened but you don’t know what, and something’s off with the twins’s dad. There’s enough mystery to immediately suck you in. Sadly tough, this storyline gets pushed to the background quite quickly. You get some info here and there, but I honestly almost forgot about the dad for a second about halfway through.
This book being a romance, the emphasis is obviously on the relationship between the main characters.
For me though, the instant relationship between Savannah and Luka was a bit too intense. They knew each other for two years before Savannah’s family moved, they haven’t seen each other in fifteen years, yet Savannah’s internal monologue makes it sound like they’ve been in a committed relationship for years even though they’ve only reconnected like a week ago. Their romance felt a bit rushed.
Savannah’s thoughts about her feelings for Riley are the same, though I mostly felt bad for him throughout the majority of the book. I really love why choose, but this one was approached in a way that felt… unfair? Even though Savannah says she has feelings for both brothers, it does read like she has a clear preference for one of them, which is something I haven’t encountered yet in previous why choose novels I’ve read.
Something that really bothered me is that Savannah is supposed to be deathly afraid of thunderstorms, yet this is conveniently forgotten during her movie date with Riley - where it could have been used to strengthen their bond, in my opinion.
The writing style can be a bit repetitive at times, with the very frequent use of “ocean eyes” and “emerald eyes” being the best example.
That being said, I did really enjoy the dual timeline with the flashbacks.
I didn’t see the revelation at the end coming. That other little twist that I can’t go into too many details about because ✨spoilers✨, I honestly saw coming from about halfway through the book because of ✨reasons✨.
This plot had a lot of potential, the execution sadly didn’t work for me though. I’m a little conflicted about this one, because I did want to keep reading… I was just mostly annoyed while doing it. There were parts of the book that I did really like, love even. So despite my rating being on the lower side, I’d say: give it a chance and see for yourself.

Tied in Two was one of those books that completely blindsided me with how much I ended up loving it. I don't even know how to explain what this book did to me, but Shayla Fanning managed to make me laugh, hurt, cry MULTIPLE times, and become completely invested in these characters. So yeah... apparently I'm emotionally attached now. 😂
The story was SO good. There was so much happening beneath the surface, and I loved how thoughtfully everything was handled. The heavier moments had actual weight and purpose instead of feeling like they were thrown in just for shock value, and I really appreciated that. The emotional parts and the romance balanced each other well without one taking over the other.
Riley and Luka were both amazing in completely different ways. They had distinct personalities and individual journeys, and I loved getting to know them as people instead of only seeing them through their relationship with Savannah. They felt layered and real, and I cared about what happened to both of them.
And the romance? I was HERE for it. Savannah's relationship with Riley and Luka was exactly the kind of why-choose romance I love. The chemistry, emotional connection, tension, and individual dynamics between Savannah and each of them made this so much fun to read. And because Riley and Luka are brothers, I loved seeing how their relationship with Savannah worked alongside their relationship with each other. There was so much more to their dynamic than just the romance, and it made the whole relationship feel more meaningful.
But the biggest thing for me was the emotional impact. This book absolutely wrecked me, and I mean that as the highest compliment. I don't cry over books unless I care about the characters, and Tied in Two had me feeling EVERYTHING. Shayla Fanning handled the emotional moments with so much care while still making them hit hard.
I finished this book and couldn't stop thinking about it. I cared about these people. I cared about what happened to them. I felt everything right along with them.
Basically, I loved this book, I'm emotionally compromised, and now I need everyone else to read it so I have people to scream about it with. 😂
If you love why-choose romance, emotional stories, complicated characters, strong chemistry, and an HEA, put this one on your TBR. Seriously.

Shayla Fanning creates characters that feel authentic and easy to connect with, making every emotional moment hit that much harder. This read made me feel nostalgic with the teenage love and brought back memories for myself. The balance of romance, tension, and heartfelt moments was beautifully done, and the ending left me with the biggest book hangover. I wish it was longer! I would’ve loved to have seen more of the romance build in a longer version, I absolutely adored all three of the main characters.

Wow… I am absolutely stunned after finishing this book. I already love a good why choose romance, but making the love interests twin brothers? That was completely wild, and somehow it worked. The emotional tension was off the charts, and I genuinely couldn’t put it down.
The plot twists just kept coming, and every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, it completely pulled the rug out from under me. The amount of trauma and shocking revelations had me hooked from beginning to end. I will say I selfishly wish we’d gotten at least one scene with all three of them together, but that didn’t take away from how addictive the story was.
And that ending… I was not prepared. It was heartbreaking, unexpected, and left me sitting there staring at my Kindle long after I finished. If you’re looking for a why choose that’s packed with twists, angst, and emotional punches, this one is definitely worth the ride.

So many thoughts on this book. Tied in Two is what I would categorize as a romantic tragedy with an ending that brings you closure. There are dark secrets that are slowly revealed as the story unfolds, and moments of happiness that make you realize that the brightest stars shine in the darkest depths of the night.
Overall, Shayla does a good job of giving each character a purpose and tying it back to the main conflict. She tells the story in such a way that it makes it difficult to put down. Once you start reading, you will find yourself at the end of the book before you even realize it. One thing I really liked is how the story switches between different POVs as well as different timelines, bringing up past incidents and how they directly impact the present. Overall, this is a well-written story and I would recommend it to those who love a suspenseful dark romance.

One thing I really love about this book is how Savannah, Luka and Riley all have POV chapters. It makes the story feel complete. I loved the dual timeline, it made me on edge to find out what “the incident” was but also the depth of their relationship.
The spice was spicin! It definitely made me blush. It was sweet, spicy and just felt true to the characters in my opinion.
Then I was WRECKED. I won’t lie, I did cry. I won’t spoil what happens but definitely have tissues on standby for this one.

I could not put this book down, I kept telling myself one more chapter, until I finished it 😂. I just loved how the pace of the story so much, how all the details and everything was brought to light, it was fantastic.

I absolutely devoured this book! The why choose romance pulled me in, but the suspense kept me turning the pages.
While I was able to figure out the big picture of the mystery fairly early on, it was the details that kept me guessing until the very end. I never could have predicted exactly how everything unfolded, and those final reveals still managed to surprise me.
This story definitely broke my heart, but it was beautiful. If you love emotional romance with plenty of suspense, this one is absolutely worth the read!

This book had me hooked from the start and had me crying at the end. It ended the way I expected. Won't go into reasons because *spoilers!! Loved the flashbacks and how the mystery of what actually happened that night all those years ago, wasn't revealed until the end. Riley, Luka and Savannah really had a piece of my heart and their relationship was well written. As a why choose it was a little different, as one brother seemed to be more of a first choice. However the love Savannah had for them both would never have let her choose between them

This book makes my skin crawl every time I think about it. It was a fu(king masterpiece of why choose, unbelievable secrets and amazing second chance. This book hooked me right in, I was emotional all the way through. I felt their pain, I felt their love and I cried like a feral cat. It has been a while since I’ve been shattered like this. But this book did it. Shattered me into pieces and slowly fixed my soul. Highly recommending you to read this book. It’s was so worth it. Thank you Shayla ❤️

Heartbroken and gutted!
This was beautifully written. I am writing this with tears in my eyes. I loved this trio of characters and how they all came together, how their love survived the test of time. The heartbreak of the last few chapters really hit me hard and I wasn’t expecting that. By the end, the way the author wrote their grief was just so powerful and realistic that it lessened the blow slightly. Very well done.

This was such a great story. It was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I absolutely loved Savannah and the guys. Her having left the small town after a traumatizing moment, only to return years later. And there both of them still were. Luka and Riley. All those feelings from those years ago never faded. There they stood stronger than ever. Such a wonderful read with an ending I didn’t see coming.

One of my favorite reads this year so far! I know this story will leave rent free in my head. This was a first time read for me from this author and it did not disappoint. The way Shayla managed to weave the storyline and had me hooked instantly and I couldn't put it down. It was packed with so much emotion and heart, and it completely destroyed me in the best way possible. I cannot wait to read more from Shayla Fanning.

OMG, this story made me so emotional and I'm not that reader. But it was so good. Its a quick dark romance that will leave you in pieces. Our 3 characters find each other after 15 years apart, being best friends in childhood and then being separated by trauma. They find their way back to each other and the ending.....

Loved this book! Loved the nod to Romeo and Juliet, and such an emotional roller coaster! Thank you so much for sending me the ARC copy, the twists and turns in this book kept me hooked and the romance was top tier. I loved the romantic tragedy but also a happy ending.

Tied in two is a fast paced dark romance, where from the beginning you can tell something happened but don't have the full picture yet... - Savanah our FMC meets twins Riley and Luka and instantly the trio become friends - this book is told in the present (15 Years in the future from when our group meet) and in flashbacks from both our FMC and both MMC's - the author did a wonderful job of moving the story along so the reader wasn't lost (even while knowing something happened - there were times I just had that eerie pit in my stomach)
Now I am a sucker for dark romance.. and without any spoilers I will say that the relationship between our trio is not that - Savanah is reunited with the boys after leaving town, and neither are planning on letting her go this time. Make sure to check your trigger warnings. I flew through this book and cant wait to read more from Shayla in the future

This is a wonderful why choose romance story. I fell in love with Luka and Riley. I don’t usually cry when I am reading but this book almost had me in tears, I was tore up! I would say the spice level is about 3 out of 5 but it definitely kept me interested the entire time. I would like to read more from this author in the future.

A tragedy that splits them up only to be reunited 15 years later and the emotions still up hold. Friends turned lovers.
The way she loved the notebook and Romeo and juilet only to have to end up in similar situations just more fucked up. I loved this book so much even with all the tears I shed. I do wish there was some more plot and more depth about her being an author, knowing the boys read her books and that we got to read about her expressions to the gift in Lukas house and we got more details I still loved the book in the end. There was a part of me that was preparing of a cliff hanger and im honestly glad there wasn't one 😅

My first read from this author and what a book 📕 Sav goes back to her hometown after the death of her parents and rekindles a romance with the two brothers she left behind. However there is a dark secret as to why she left. Such a good read and a bit of a tearjerker at the end. Loved it 🥰 was glad to be chosen as an arc reader on this thank you ☺️

Did I enjoy the premise of this book? Yes. It was also a quick, easy read that I feel like a lot of people could and will love. It has a lot of elements in it that I look for, but for me personally, they were executed poorly.
I am super picky when it comes to why choose, mostly because I feel that when you're reading it, it's very obvious that the author favours one of the interests over the other, and they get more screen time, etc, which makes it harder to root for that person. That, unfortunately, is where this book falls short. To me, I wouldn't class this as a why choose. It's obvious in storytelling and via the FMC herself (who literally states nothing else compares to the feeling she has for one of the mmc). Do I like that she struggles with the idea of both of them and having feelings for both? Yes, it's one of the things I actually really enjoyed; very few books highlight that it's a struggle to have feelings for both people, especially when they are brothers. But to me, the why choose aspect seemed to be more of a thing to draw in readers, vs what it was. Just because she sleeps with two people and struggles with it, when it's very clear where the story is leading, and especially with that ending, to me personally, not a why-choose.
This story is also super short, which isn't an overly bad thing if you're just giving us the relationship between the mains, BUT you've got this slight mystery happening that gets sort of pushed to the background and forgotten while the mains lose themselves in the smut, to the point honestly I even forgot there was an actual story there with the dad (though it's clear where that story is leading)
The relationship itself between our mains also feels forced. Like, separately, I adore the characters Luca and Riley are both very different, who just happen to love the same girl, and both have a terrible home life. But again, we're given the pov of one more than the other, where given the growth of one and Sav more than the other, so it makes it hard to root for the other, and when it came to the ending, I was more frustrated than anything else.
We are told a lot; we're told how close they all are and how in love they all are, and I just don't feel it. Sav's not even back in town for a day, and boom, suddenly old feelings resurface, and it's not long before they are declaring they love one another. It just felt rushed because of the short page count. If it were a little longer and we got to marinate with the characters, then it would have been a lot better.
Everything with the main love felt a little wishwashy to me; we go from oh, nothing compares to this to oh, but I love him to and it just didn't make sense, and I 100% think that she was only ever destined for one.
So yes, I had fun while reading it, and there are plenty of things folks are going to enjoy in this, but I find it so hard to rate something higher when you're promised one thing and don't actually get that thing.

I have one piece of advice before you pick up Tied in Two by Shayla Fanning: make sure you have tissues nearby. Seriously. I wasn't prepared for the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on.
Savannah grows up alongside the twin boys next door, Riley and Luka. The three of them are inseparable, sharing a bond that feels unbreakable. Then, one tragic night changes everything. Savannah's parents suddenly pack up and leave town, taking her away from the only home—and the only people—she's ever truly loved.
Sixteen years later, after the unexpected death of her parents, Savannah returns home to settle their estate and sell the family house. The last thing she expects is to run into one of the twins, who quickly lets his brother know she's back. As the three of them reconnect, old feelings begin to resurface, buried memories come back to the surface, and they're forced to confront the past.
I was completely invested from the very beginning. Shayla Fanning does an incredible job of making you fall in love with these characters and their relationships. You can feel the history between them on every page, and I found myself hoping they could somehow find their way back to one another despite everything that had happened.
Then... Shayla absolutely destroyed me.
Without giving anything away, this is not your typical romance with a predictable happily-ever-after. It's emotional, heartbreaking, beautifully written, and incredibly impactful. The ending left me sitting in silence trying to process everything I had just read, with tears streaming down my face.
I don't often finish a book that lingers in my mind for days afterward, but this one absolutely will. It reminded me that not every love story is meant to be easy, and not every ending looks the way we hope it will. Sometimes those are the stories that leave the biggest mark.
Shayla... shame on you for putting my heart through that. But also, thank you for writing such a beautiful, unforgettable story. You've gained a fan for life.

This isn’t your typical HEA. Actually, it’s not a happily ever after at all IMO. I mean it is……but it’s not the HAPPIEST ever after it could be. Which is why I only gave it 3 stars. I really enjoyed the book. Quite a bit actually. Until the last 20% of the book. I thought for sure it wouldn’t end that way. But I was wrong.

One of the twins dies towards the end of the book. He dies while protecting his love and his brother. But it’s DEVASTATING. There are very few “no no’s” for me in reading. And death of one of the MCs (and not coming back to life) is one of my main ones. I read for joy and happiness in a very stress filled world. I don’t want my books to not end in joy and happiness. Is that realistic? No. But reading doesn’t have to be realistic. I like my fantasy worlds.
The FMC’s favorite book is Romeo and Juliet. The quote “I live for you” was used a couple times too. So I guess I should have known.
If you enjoy a good book that’s also a tearjerker- this is that one to read.
And if the author reads this review- Shayla, you wrote a fantastic book! I loved that you got to the point. That no one dawdled around with how they felt. I hate that. They had feelings for each other and still do. They wanted to be together so they were together. Not a bunch of back and forth and second guessing themselves. Get to the point. Life is too short to not. Love that kind of book. But. Riley’s death broke me and that’s a “me” problem. Not an actual problem with your book.

Set between past and present this story is about mystery and reconnection. The FMC Savannah going back to her hometown after 15 years away from the twin brothers she never forgot.
I really liked Savannah, my heart broke for what she went through and the conflict within herself and I loved Riley, I felt sad for his darkness but I loved his passion in protecting those he loved. I liked Luka but he was too forgiving for me, others may feel differently. But I enjoyed the way he brought Savannah out of herself. I loved their relationships and the way they built up again, together and individually. Their chemistry was amazing and the spice perfect for this story, tender in some circumstances and slightly rougher in others (mostly dep which man it was).
The story overall, was a bit slow in parts but I loved the mystery and watching it slowly unravel, the tension, violence and the horror. There were so many beautiful and heart-warming moments between them all. But ultimately this story actually broke me, keep the tissues nearby, I will be thinking about it for a while. So I highly recommend you read it too.
On a lighter note, Savannahs parents couldn’t have picked a worse place to live it seems when your daughter is terrified of storms. Haha!
