Filled with beautifully written prose, terrifying scenes of violence, a disquieting sense of menace, and characters who definitely defy the concepts of good and evil, The Lineage is a solid read for fans of horror.
The novel follows a vampire family led by Dorian. Tristan is part of this family. Soon they're being picked off one by one by an unseenable force that follows them through the streets of America, leaving a trail of blood.
It was a little difficult getting started because I'd never read anything from this author. However, once settled, I enjoyed the poetic descriptions, the believable dialogue, and the world these nomadic vampires lived in.
There was a lot of descriptive writing and although I think that it became too much at times, it didn't sway me from the storyline. Overall, this novel was an excellent read. I recommend it for readers who are tired of the romantic vampires in novels today.
That was.....intriguing. There were a few areas that were a tad overly descriptive for my taste, but that's not a negative against the author or the story. I hope Triatan's story is carried in to a second book.
