What it says on the tin. Author Brown takes the reader through a journey of the United States, looking at donuts and the stores that sell them. National chains to well-known local places to small mom-and-pop shops, Brown takes us through the different types of donuts and the history behind them. There's also some light, general history about the donut as well.
That's about it. This isn't really a history of the food itself (which is a pity because I had hoped there would be more of the historical information) but is geared towards foodies/donut aficionados. If, say, you were someone who decided to take a road trip that centered around donuts, this could be the perfect book for you.
Otherwise, there's not much to say about it. It's nice to look at but I wish this had been available at the library. Would make a nice gift but is also not very practical as a cookbook. You may want to thumb through this at the bookstore or library before deciding to purchase. But it would make a nice addition to the right person's collection.

my son is on his own personal donut tour across the US. He has been to a few in the books and he found many on his own. He is having a great time on his own World Donut Tour. Maybe he can publish his version of this book.
