I have known of the existence of Orange marmalade for years now but the plot did not caught my attention. I thought it was just another vampire story like other stories out there. This year, I decided to check this out when most recommendations have this book on their list. I only intended to check the first few chapters but i ended reading everything in just few days. Now i feel so bad and regretful of not reading this when it came out.

This has a cheesy romance and predictable ending but what enamored me is the twist in the lives of vampires. We are used to reading stories with vampires being so powerful but it is the opposite in this story.

Another thing is the lessons it depict to readers. We readers can relate to the characters in terms of acceptance, friendship and second chances.

I really enjoyed reading this story and I also recommend it to everyone.

A traditional happy ending after month of depression I see...
I'm sorry for the white haired guy and for all the pain Mari had suffered. This was a heavy webtoon, there are depression and also attempted suicide. If you are depressed don't read this.

This manhwa was awesome.

I really liked the characters, the story, and the plot was just fascinating. The way it dealt with discrimination was very impressive, it kept me on my toes. It kept things so real, it was as if you could change the vampire group to any minority we have in our society and get the exact same outcome, because that's how it really is. I loved how the author dealt with this by showing the undersides of it, it was poignant.
And I couldn't help but connect with the main characters. Especially Ma Ri, she was a very touching character. I even felt bad at some point for Si Hoo but yeah, she did belong with Jae Min, even though he did hurt her. Thankfully, Jae Min came through when it was most needed and that's what matters.
Also, I just love-love-loved little Joseph, he was so wonderfully cute!

On the whole, I really enjoyed reading Orange Marmalade. The characters were great, the backstories and the main storyline were great, and basically the entire thing was engaging. So, five overall stars for Orange Marmalade.

Review For Chapters 106-119

I can't believe this story is actually over! I overall really liked this whole series, but I have some mixed feelings about the ending. On one hand, I like that all of the vampire tension finally came to a head, and we got to see Ma Ri out living as a vampire, not hiding who she is all the time. On the other hand, I feel like a lot of plot points were sort of forgotten or just really rushed, and it made things feel pretty unsatisfying. Now that I've finished the webtoon, I think I'm gonna give the K-Drama a watch....

This is a futuristic world about the coexistence of vampires and humans.

The story focuses on one teenaged, vampire girl, Mari, who hides her and her family's existence as vampires, but begins to trust humans and humans begin to trust her.

At the beginning, she tries not talking to anyone because of her past experiences with previous humans who have seen her as something "monsterous." Throughout the series, her transformation of being feared of the world and then being accepted really did shine. Just from these acceptances, her character and attitude really do change. As the story progresses, even humans are changing as they accept vampires into their world.

I do think there could be a few spin-offs about Mari and her friends. I still have questions that could be answered. One of them seeing what will happen after Mari and her friends graduate? Will she and Jaemin stay together and end up married?

What a cute series. I reads and feels like a good drama. And while there were times in the plot I didn't like that--the mean girls and the extra love interest felt forced for plot's sake when introduced--this was still a great series that avoided the major pitfalls some dramas fall into in my opinion. In the end, this story wasn't so much of a romance as it was a drama about Mari's life as a vampire, and finding acceptance. The romance took a back seat, and was really only front and center when her vampiric nature complicated things. I thought this was kind of refreshing, though I wish I could have seen more cute romantic moments.

Anyway, don't be deterred by my four star rating--this is still one of the best manga (yeah, manwha or webtoon is more accurate, yeah, yeah) I've read. I highly recommend it.

OMG. I can't believe it's done and I have a swollen eye from crying too much. I know I'm emotional but this was not a normal vampire webtoon/story; I felt it was more than that. It was carrying out a message to all the readers wich is STOP RACISM. I felt itsage getting stronger in the last few volumes. As if the creator put all kinds of racism in one category and try to present it differently, so we can all learn a lesson or two from it. Personally I face racist people most of the time because I'm living abroad and it's not a nice feeling at all. It's hard to be alone because you don't know how to blend in and if you did blend in it means you can't be your self 100%. So you have to lose parts of yourself during the process. It was everything actually; it's fun, romantic, weird , and interesting. It was a fun read.

Overall this is a lovely story, with several issues. The ending was rushed, we all know the author wanted it to end. It was kind of disappointing that it ended like it did, but at least the main love interest stayed that way. Four things bother me: Jae Min isn't really a good guy, and was very inappropriate to Mah Ri during the entire story both before and after dating. Second, WHY IS THE TITLE THE TITLE. Third, ending could have been explored more. Fourth, White hair really took a bullet for us taking that crazy chick away from all this.

This final volume of this manhwa is hard to finish, not because it's not boring, instead it's like saying goodbye to something you will definitely miss a lot. That's how I felt while reading the remaining chapters in this last installment.

Now that I've finally finished this, the question is should I also watch the TV adaptation of this manhwa or should I leave it because I don't want to set my expectations on it? To be, or not to be-
that is the question.

SO MUCH PAIN. A lot of deep themes at this point, I was really bawling my eyes out because I felt a connection to Mari and what she was going through within herself. I almost didn't read this webtoon because of its foundation as a vampire story but it was so worth it - a unique retelling of a story many people face, closed off with a traditional ending. I would read it again if it weren't for the daily pass.

This webtoon has made a great impact on me. I connected to the struggles that the characters faced, and they gave me light to a rather dark mood I’ve been having lately. I love the optimism and the happy ending that this story has had. I am sad to see it finished, but I am elated that I have had the possibility of so wonderful an experience. This story will reside in my corner of favourite webtoons. Thank you, Seok Woo.

In all, I appreciate the views Seok Woo is willing to take to portray prejudice and hatred as well as fear.

I still don't like the forcefulness and miscommunication between the original early relationship of the two leads.

Also the parents of the female lead sure did take the entire series to step up and be parents, didn't they?

A truly wonderful webtoon! It just shows how much we humans and our society are disgusting! Using a nearly wiped out breed, the author shows us all the problems in our world full of discrimination! Well earned five stars!

Note: The rating is purely based on entertainment value.

Orange Marmalade is definitely not the best manhwa/manga I have read. I would say that it doesn't even come close to being one of the best. Yet, it hooked me right in and I couldn't stop reading it until I read all of it. I, in fact, went as far as reading it in Korean because I couldn't keep waiting for the translated version.

It is one of the better vampire stories I have read, although the plot does become angsty and melodramatic. Perhaps it is the artwork that captured my attention because goddamn the art is beautiful, especially the pauses, the silences and the colours. My favourite scene will always remain Shi Hoo flying with Mari through the night. Jae-min was tolerable, to be honest.

It is one of those manhwas where the plot is a hot mess , and yet so addicting that you can't let it go without completing it.

Would I pick it up again? No.

Will I recommend it to anyone else? Maybe, not. I would rather recommend Misaeng, Bastard, The Gamer, Chiller, or Cheese in the Trap.

Do I have feels for it? Definitely, yes.
