Retells Cervantes' story of the adventures of an eccentric Spanish country gentleman and his companion who set out as a knight and squire of old to right wrongs and punish evil.
For the first time, I can say that I actually read the original version of a classic novel prior to the Wishbone version!
Still, despite being seriously abridged, this adaptation of a legendary literary work makes it accessible to early readers. As usual, Wishbone's commentary was both fun and educational. I still suggest the original, but, for those looking for a quick version of the story, this is it!
I never thought I would be reading Don Quixote to my son at age 6 (or ever for that matter), but this book makes it very easy and enjoyable to read. Yes, it's not the original text and it has Wishbone's commentary throughout, but for a 6 year old, that's fun. I've been enjoying it too, because it's a book that was never on my wishlist to read, but it's been a great story so far. In two words: fun & accessible.
This book is great if you have kids that want to start reading classic books, but you don't feel that they are going to either enjoy or understand it. I feel, however, that this is too much of a dumbed down version of the tale.
