Callum

Maeve is gone.

No goodbye. No explanation. Just silence as Callum stares at the empty driveway.

With a short fuse and a clock that refuses to slow, Callum follows every lead he can find—but every answer only leaves more questions behind.

A breadcrumb here. A shadow there.
Like someone wants him chasing ghosts.

Every ally is watching, waiting for the Costas to resurface. But if Callum is right… this was meant to be a message.

Maeve

Maeve refuses to break—even when she’s close to it.

Trapped beneath watchful eyes and running out of time, she knows survival means staying sharp and waiting for the right moment.

When a stranger steps in to help her, she realizes he may be her one chance to escape.

One problem.

He’s being watched, too.

But Maeve knows one thing to be true—

She will leave this place.

Dead or alive.

Relationships will be tested.
Loyalties will be questioned.
Limits will be pushed.
Secrets will be revealed.

And Callum won’t stop until Maeve is back in his arms again.

Absolutely am dying! I loved Nine Years After and the long awaited sequel Eight Days Prior is no different. The story is just so captivating and suspenseful. The author has a way of holding onto my attention page and page. The way she writes full feeling into everything that Maeve or Callum is amazing. And the suspense of waiting for another book to come out is going to be just as frustrating and heartbreaking!

She did it again… J.C. Macke reached through the book and took my heart along for the ride. Eight Days Prior follows the events directly after book 1 (Night Years After). If you haven’t read it yet, go do it now… trust me…

Maeve is gone and Callum is ready to tear the world apart to have her back by his side. Time is ticking, enemies seem to be one step ahead, and there are deadly secrets… perhaps betrayals… lurking around. His biggest fear is being too late and losing her forever.
Meanwhile, Maeve is no damsel in distress. She’s trained for this. She knows her only chance of survival is keeping her wits about her…. She’s determined to survive and make it back to Callum, or burn it all down around her trying.

Fair warning: J.C. Macke has a way of sending you on the same emotional roller coaster that the characters are on. Your heart wrenches in agony with them, when they can’t breathe… neither can you… and when they have heartwarming moments you are right there with them… Oh and don’t be surprised when at the end of the book the words that leave your mouth are… “Wait… What?!”

This is a book that I will be ordering to join its companion on the shelf and re-reading while we wait for book 3.

Please excuse me while I SOB for the next 7 business weeks.

From the pacing, to the depth of emotions, and the raw emotions of Maeve and Callum literally had my chest tight throughout the entire journey.

EDP covers deep and dark topics very tastefully. This roller coaster had me laughing while panicking and crying while laughing. The ending made me feel seen and healed just a small part of me while breaking me into a million pieces. I absolutely CANNOT wait to continue this journey.

Couldn’t put this down.

From beginning to end there was never a lull. A rush of activity, excitement, and emotion that feels like it ends to quickly. Callum fighting to get to Maeve. Maeve fighting to get back. A whirlwind that I could not put down from the moment I read the first page.

Mafia Romance

I have really enjoyed this series so far. Good storyline, spicy scenes don't consume the whole book or take away the story. Didn't want to put it down.
