I’ll start this review by saying this; I liked this book, just didn’t quite loved it. There were too many things I didn’t completely understand, for me to say that I loved it. However, I do want to point out that it’s a very enjoyable read. Definitely not a waste of your money.
First, I loved the plot line and the plot-twists. Many things I didn’t see coming, many things I thought were original and well done. For example, I love the fact that Adam was a father. At first, I have to say I wasn’t so sure about that part. Surprisingly, once I “met” the said Adam, I was taken. He’s the perfect description of the DILF. If I may use that word. He’s thirty-something sexy as hell, hard-working, father of two. And weren’t those two little kids adorable? And I also have a soft spot for Mia’s dog, Braddy. I think it’s safe to say I liked the characters. So, that was great. And, the story was entertaining, so, if that’s enough for you, I say pick up this book.
Second, I liked the fact that Mia didn’t spill out all her dirty little secrets the first nor the second time Adam asked about them. That’s something I feel like I see a lot in Romance. Both characters have secrets, the minute the guy asks the girl, she spills everything out, but when the girl asks the guy, you have to wait until the end of the book for him to reveal ONE secret, and then, hello, a major cliff-hanger. That didn’t happen in this book, and I loved it. Adam asked, and Mia said she wasn’t ready to talk about it, and he was fine with it and waited for her to tell him. Also, when Mia asked about some of Adam’s secrets, I really loved the fact the for once, he didn’t hesitate and told her everything. They were quite honest with each other and that was refreshing. The key word here; quite.
Third, plot-wise, I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the story and I liked the fact that the two characters weren’t instantly in a relationship. There was some kind of a mouse and cat game between Adam and Mia. I loved that part. Love the chase. Made things even more interesting. Plus, I was quite shocked at that last plot-twist, a plot-twist that left us hanging. As in cliff-hanger. However, the second book is already out, so no need to panic.
As for the things I didn’t understand, things that are the reasons why I’m not giving this book quite a 4 stars. The first downer for me was when they actually got together. One second they were playing “hard to get” and the next they’re telling each other just how much they’re in love. I didn’t see that love coming. Didn’t see it build into this “we’re soulmates” thing. Didn’t understand the reasons behind it. I feel like they didn’t even know each other. Sure, there was an attraction, yes, but for me, the love part came out of nowhere. I didn’t get it. Still don’t.
The second downer was that I actually wouldn’t consider this book a sexy book. If you’re looking for a drama-filled dirty book, I wouldn’t recommend this one. If you’re looking for a good contemporary filled with drama and secrets, then I’d say this is a great choice. What was the downer? Simply that I expected some sex, and there wasn't really.
The third and final downer was the “I know you cheated on me because I saw you exchange a few words with her” part. I feel like many, many times, Mia jumped onto fast conclusions of cheating and being played by Adam. Which were all false. All the time. And kind of unjustified in my opinion. I know she has a past that involves both of these things and it cost her a lot, but still, she got jealous and possessive over a lot of things. Unimportant things. But that’s my opinion.
In the end, will I read the second book? No. And that’s because the book actually didn’t grab my attention enough for me to continue on with this trilogy.
I do want to point out that there are more things I liked about this book than things I disliked, so it’s definitely a good read. If it’s not a dirty filthy book you’re looking for, then I absolutely recommend this.
I really hate shelving a book under DNF. But I really am give up on this book. I don't get the story. It suppose to be suspense romance? All I got is romance. And the romance is boring to hell. The audiobook is 10 hours long, mind you. 80% of this book, just filled with push and pull between Adam and Mia. In great detail. I rolling my eyes while listening to this book.
The push and pull is not even interested. There is no twist, fun, sassy banters. Just plain push and pull. Mia most of the time playing hard to get. While Adam is acting like a sex lunatic. 80% of the book.
I started this book having no idea if I would like it or not. I ended up staying awake until 4:30 in the morning just so I could finish!! Since it's a romance/suspense I don't want to give too much away. I think it's best if you go in knowing nothing...just like I did. I'll warn you though that there IS a cliffhanger ending. Many questions arise during this book but few answers are given. The romance part of the story was sizzling and tender at the same time. Mia is a school teacher who was hurt badly in a previous relationship. Adam is a single father whose children attend Mia's school. He's sexy, charming and obviously has eyes for Mia. But Adam is full of mysteries, most of which we still don't fully understand. He makes it clear that he is only interested in a physical relationship with Mia because he is trying to protect his children from the pain of losing anyone else in their lives. He doesn't bring women around them. Suffice it to say that things don't stay purely sexual. They both develop feelings that they don't really understand and aren't prepared to deal with. Some of Adam's secrets have to do with him getting involved with the wrong kind of people and not having an easy way out of it. By caring for Mia, he has inadvertently put her as well as his children in danger. Can he handle whatever the situation is without any blow-back hurting the ones he loves? We won't know for sure until the next book! This one will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I was dying to know what would happen next in both Adam and Mia's relationship and whatever trouble Adam had going on. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of their story!
Mia is a teacher at the elementary school, has a new student and her student’s brother is in her best friend’s room next door. Not only are the kids worming their way into her heart, they have no mom, and a hot dad.
I loved this book. These characters were so real, and their reactions to some things were unexpected and refreshing. I loved the banter Adam and Mia shared at the pickup line, and the connection the kids seemed to form with Mia.
I can’t imagine how hard it would be to raise twins on your own, let alone with the circumstances Adam has been dealt. With a jaded past, I can’t blame him for his hesitance but I also wanted to smack him and asking him what he is thinking!
And that ending… As I told LM, I am not sure yet if I love her or hate her! But you MUST read this book! ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars
Blurb: Second grade teacher, Mia Delaney, isn’t looking for love. In fact, she isn’t looking for anything at all because life hasn’t been fair. Everything—the idea of love, her hopes and dreams—was ripped away in a single night.
Arrogant yet sexy Adam Lawson makes the move to a small town in an attempt to escape life in the city. Here he hopes to provide a fresh start for those he loves and protects with a vow to never let anyone get close enough to hurt them again.
A chance encounter with Miss Delaney begins a relentless pursuit that has Adam breaking his own rules when he makes an offer she simply can’t refuse. Despite her internal struggles, Mia knows there’s no denying the attraction between them.
But when acquaintances become friends and friends become enemies, Adam’s need to protect those around him becomes even more crucial. Will the tangled web of lies and betrayal combined with past insecurities become too much for them to handle?
Living in a small town has its advantages, everybody knows everyone, sometimes though this can be a massive problem......
Mia Delaney loves to run, with her dog Brady they are a familiar sight and after being away at her brothers for the summer it is nice to catch up with the locals. What she didn't expect though was to bump into a handsome stranger. After her previous experiences with men and what happened with her cheating boyfriend last summer she is wary of men in general at the moment.
The new school year begins, Mia and her best friend Shelby love being teachers and meeting the new kids in their classes. What she didn't count on was two of them belonging to the hot, handsome stranger. Only trouble is he seems to be very friendly with her former friend, the one who cheated with not just one, but two of her boyfriends.
Adam Lawson is a man who is used to women falling at his feet and none of them ever say no!!!!! The thing is he has set his sights on Mia and that might be a problem. The dance between them that ensues is filled with gripping twists and turns, a lot of indecision and a realisation for Adam that a woman might have actually let him see he does have a chance at love and a real future.
The only thing is, a few members of the small town are fighting very hard to split them up. Will love find a way or will one family succeed in breaking them apart.....
I can't wait for part two to find out what happens, I was totally sucked in by this story and couldn't put it down.
This was quite a catchy and easy read. I wasn't quite sure what I thought when I first started reading. Mia Delaney, is a teacher. She has quite a straight forward life. And she likes it simple. But things weren't always simple, and she has had quite the past. Not that we really find any of that out to start with.
One day while running, she ends bumping in to a gorgeous stranger. He looks quite mysterious, yet feisty Mia, isn't interested in some new cocky new guy, who thinks he is gods gift to women. She thinks that's the end of that, yet that is just the first of many times she is to run in to Adam Lawson. Starting with her first day back at school, after summer. And this gorgeous stranger, is now one of her new parents in a very small town!
So begins a lot of chemistry, quick wit and lines, and cat and mouse style scenes. They are very funny, and sexy and easy reading.
But what I loved about this book, that made it stand out from the crowd, was they way it switched gears and changed in to a book with a lot of twists and turns, mystery and secrets. My favourite kind.
Mia is a great character, I love her tenacity, and headstrong attitude, especially with what we later find out she has been through, in her life. It just made me admire her, that much more.
Adam I was never 100% sure about, he irritated me to start with, with the whole, 'I don't want a relationship, I just want a quick fling, and I want it now, grrrrrr' sorta alpha caveman attitude. I've seen that sort of male in so many books, it gets tiring, but I must admit, I did start to warm to Adam, and by the end I really liked him, and was definitely rooting for him and Mia as an epic couple.
Now this book has kind of a weird ending, and I know the next book is almost out, so it's not worth flapping over. But I'm thinking the end is a kind of clue to something bigger, but I'm not entirely sure on that. What I do know is, it certainly enticed me to read on to the next book.
So all in all, a great read. With plenty of angst, and twists and turns. Also plenty of moments for tissues. In the best possible meaning. :-/ A great book, and highly recommended.
I didn’t know about this series until I saw a blurb for the third and final installment, which was released in November. It caught my eye and it just so happened that the first book was free. Woohoo! I couldn’t wait to delve in.
Adam is your typical women-flock-to-me guy. He never has to work for a woman…that is, until he meets Mia. Adam’s flirting goes nowhere with her. Mia thinks she is off the hook from Adam’s incessant charms until that day at school when she comes face-to-face with her new student’s father.
Holy DILF!
Yep. That pretty much sums it up. Adam is a single father and and Mia is the 2nd grade teacher. What begins next is the most sensual case of cat and mouse I’ve read for a long time. Adam is a little brash when it comes to his technique…”He wants to f*ck me and probably chuck me and he wasn’t shy about it.” But in his defense he has never had to work this hard to get a woman (and he has had plenty!) Back and forth Mia and Adam go with their desires. Adam has made it perfectly clear that he is not looking for a long-term relationship. Mia’s relationships have always taken a nose dive at the end and she is hesitant to put herself out there again knowing that Adam would probably end up breaking her heart. They are going to give in, but who will fall first?
“You’re my respite from the world.”
There are a lot of questions that will arise as you read this and the author purposely drags out giving us the answer therefor providing a book with lots of suspense. All those phone calls that Adam takes was making me want to rip it out of his hand! Why is he always getting phone calls and never letting them go to voice mail? Why does Mia’s childhood best friend hate her so much? These are all pivotal plots that make the foundation of a well-developed story. Some moments will have you grabbing for the Pepto-Bismol while others will have you reaching for the Kleenex. On a side note, I am currently half done with the second book and am in my happy place with the glorious angst that is occurring!
* * ARC given on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * * This was an amazing read, Mia is ready to start her job this school year, she's ready to move forward from all the bad luck in love she's had, til she meets the single dad Adam Lawson. She bumps into Adam on one of her morning runs and isn't to impressed with him she doesn't even introduce herself, then again at a sex club, then realizes that his twin children attend her school and one of them is in her class. Adam hasn't had such a great past either, losing the mother of his children and becoming a father and mother isn't easy and it doesn't leave time for relationships. but he can't seem to leave Mia alone. But nothing is perfect, Adam is close to the one person that stole happiness from Mia her one time best friend Gina. Mia and Adam try friend with benefits but the more time she's with him the harder she falls and she can't lose anyone else she cares about. can Mia let go of the past and trust Adam even though his is close to one of the few people she hates , can Adam be completely honest and let Mia in 100%. this book is so freaking awesome. we have hot sex, hurtful past, jealously. deceit and possibly murder. it has it all. there is a cliffhanger and I'm so ready for bk 2. L.M. Carr does an amazing job writing, I couldn't put it down. This definitely a must read.
Mia is twenty seven years old and single. Her best friend, Shelby , has recently got married and doesn't have as much time to spend with her friend anymore. Mia is feeling very lonely. She has been hurt very badly in her relationship and she has sworn off men. Her boyfriend of two years, Shane, got her pregnant and then cheated on her with her other best friend, Gina. They are no longer friends and Mia broke up with Shane but it broke her. She doesn't go out much . She is a second grade school teacher and she is getting ready for the beginning of the new school year. She is out on her morning run with her dog, Brady when she stops at the top of the hill to have a conversation with her deceased dad. She feels close to him in this spot. She runs into another runner who is strikingly handsome but he makes her feel uneasy. His name is Adam Lawson and he is new in town. Over the next few weeks she keeps running into Adam weather it be out at a bar or at the store. Her other friend, Kate, convinces her to go out to a club with her. She finally agrees but when they arrive at the club, she finds all the men too friendly. Her friend leaves her and when one of the owners makes a pass at her she slugs him. She sees Adam there with a woman. When she runs out of the club, he steps from his car and tells her she doesn't belong at this type of club. When school starts she finds him at school. He has a set of six year old twins, Luke and Maddie. Mia has Maddie in her class. Adam wants Mia and he will stop at nothing to get her. This book contains profanity and sex scenes. He keeps his sex life separate from his family. He wants no relationship. As Mia gets to know him she finds out he is into things that can put them all in danger. I screamed at the end because it left me hanging. (I hate that) this is however, a good read
Firstly I would LOVE to thank the lovely L.M. Carr for kindly providing me with a copy to read and review.
This book is HOT, intriguing and it sucks you right in from the first line
27 year old school teacher Mia Delaney has been scarred for life, her previous experiences with men has made her wary of men in general a which we don't expect. She has some dark issues from her past that she's working on getting past, they seem to keep repeating themselves by past rivals, unfortunately for Mia these are a constant reminder for her, she can’t seem to escape the memories, this has then moulded her into the person that she is today.
Now lets get down to business....single dad Adam Lawson...Mmmm Hmmmm Mmmmm Yes ladies, make sure you lock the doors when reading this one, Mia bumps into Adam on one of her morning runs, this ultimately leads us through a chain of events with Adam persistently pursuing Miss Delaney mush to her discomfort....well only in the beginning, she's like a dog on heat once she's gotten through the barriers regarding men she's put up
The characters seemed so realistic, their reactions to things were unexpected and refreshing, which is a good thing I may add!
Mia and Adam try the saying "friends with benefits" but the more time they seem to spend with one another the harder they begin to fall.
The only thing is, a few members of the small town are fighting very hard to split them up. Will love find a way or will one family succeed in breaking them apart.....
Can Mia let go of the past and trust Adam? Can they make something work?
There was mystery and suspense with a dollop of hot romance. I for one can't wait to read more of this story.
This is L.M. Carr's first book and I have to tell you....it was great! This was a fast and easy read, which took me two days to finish. There were tons of twists, turns, oh no, oh no they didn't, tons of hot steamy sex and boy a hot Alpha male to boot!!
Mia is a 27 year old teacher who had her heart broken not once but twice and vowed never to give her heart to another again. Well, until she meets Adam who is a 31 year old real estate broker. They keep running into each other either at the grocery store, on a run or at Mia's school where Adam's twins Luke and Maddie attended. Then there's Gina, Mia's ex-best friend who is trying to ruin her life again (boy did I want to jump in the book and punch her lights out!) What secrets are Mia and Adam hiding from each other. Why oh why did it end like this..........Cliffhanger!!!! I can't wait to read the second book, August 2015 can't come fast enough!
I dont even know what to say about this book except I loved it... It had me pulled in from the beginning. I loved how it started with something from Mia's past. but yet it wasnt enough to tell you anything and kept you guessing all the way through the book. L.M. Carr would drop little hints here and there and you think you know what is coming next but you have no idea. I love the banter between Mia and Adam. Mia try's so hard to stay away from Adam and for a while she is successful but is what she wants and what he is wanting the same thing? He doesnt do relationships and she is not the type for casual sex. Can they make something work. Or will Mia get in over her head and let her heart make the decisions?
This is a must read and I can not wait until the next book of this series is out to get more answers. I need more Mia and Adam!!!
The story started out slow but soon picked up. It kept me hooked. I loved Adam but in the beginning, I thought he had other motives but he didn't. He was genuine. Mia on the other hand was funny. I liked her humor and felt sorry for her too. Then there's Gina. The one person that I did not like. Overall, it was a wonderful read and I'm looking forward to book 2. The downside for me was a few errors that editing didn't catch but not many and too...a couple of discrepancies like Mia giving Adam her number so he can contact her when in the previous chapter he had anonymously texted her. And Adam asking who Shelby is when previous chapter they had met plus too, she's his sons teacher (????) But I truly loved this story. Can't wait for the continuation. Bravo LM Carr
It took me awhile to really get into this book but once I did, I loved it!! It was filled with sexual angst and suspense and secrets. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out what was happening till the very end, and that cliffhanger sure was something else!! This book was definitely very difficult for me to put down. That dramatic and emotional prologue sucked me in from the very beginning and had me wondering what events were to transpire.
I absolutely loved the characters in this book! Mia Delaney has a very spunky personality with a touch of vulnerability which makes her easy to relate to. She has suffered through so much pain and loss in her 27 years, yet it hasn't deterred her. All of her struggles have made her that much stronger but also more vulnerable. She uses running and her job as an outlet for all her pain until one day Adam Lawson bursts into her life. Adam is tall, mysterious, gorgeous, and also very confident. His love and devotion for his twins, Maddie and Luke, will make you fall hopelessly in love with him. You see a different, softer side to him when he is around his kids then what he chooses to show the rest of the world.
I loved how Adam was completely relentless in his pursuit of Mia and wouldn't take no for an answer. Mia has been hurt by past loves that causes her to be wary of Adam at first. But once she finally gives in, oh my gosh, the chemistry is off the charts! I loved the ease between them and how quickly Maddie and Luke fell in love with her, and how perfectly Mia fit into their life.
L.M. Carr's writing was beautiful and well paced. I was rooting for Mia and Adam till the very end, whilst still trying to figure out the mysteries and secrets surrounding their perfect romance. I couldn't believe this was her debut novel and I can't wait to read the other books in the series!
ARC Received from author in exchange for an honest review
Okay first of all, I didn't know what to do with this story.
I liked the storyline of this book, it was filled with so much drama and angst and romance and really hot sex!
Adam is this Tall, Dark Handsome hard-working father, raising his two kids all by himself. But also seems like a deeply troubled man. When he meets Mia its like he has this struggle of going after what he wants but also about just leaving her alone
Mia has been through so much heart ache and drama that she is just fine on her own with her beloved Brady and her sweet little students.
But they couldn't deny the chemistry between them and the attraction. But there was so much more to this story. Adam is clearly hiding something and with Mia's past relationships issue of doubt can she trust him wholeheartedly or will he break her heart.
Mia I just don't know if I liked her character. She annoyed me a bit. Once their relationship started, I felt like for someone who had trust issues she just made a lot of allowances for him. And she just accepted whatever he told her.
But when you eventually learn the Big Secret you will not believe it.
So like I said Drama/Sex/Suspense and so much angst you will not want to put it down. And that ending. Holy Smoke
I am excited to see where this is going... So on to the next Book!
Mia Delaney is a 2nd grade teacher, she loves to run/jog and that is where she runs into Adam Lawson. Instant attraction but warning bells and whistles go off. Then she learns his twin kids, Maddie and Luke are 2nd graders. She will have Maddie in her class and Luke will be in her best friends class across the hall. While he pursues her, in a creepy way a little IMO, she fights her attraction because she sees he is the hit it and quit it type.
Slowly walls come down, Adam loses some of his asshole-ary and the kids love her. His job though has a risky element. Her ex friends brother, is deep into bad stuff and that will put her at risk.
I loved the backstories of both, I liked the friends of hers, those close to him on his side. The 'evil' brother and sister make a potential angsty combo. We shall see where it leads... on to book #2.
I really loved this debut novel from author LM Carr! The characters Adam and Mia both have secrets which kept me turning the pages. I needed to find out what those secrets were and I could not stop reading! I thoroughly enjoyed the sexy and mysterious Adam. Wow! I also was quite taken with the amazing Mia. She's a great character and very funny! I really love her! The bonus to this story was her dog Brady. I loved that there was a dog in this book!
This story was original, humorous, suspenseful, heart wrenching and steamy! I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series! I need to know how their love story continues! The ending definitely left me wanting more!
I read this in 2 days! It was an easy read, yet it had a lot more substance than some of the other romance books that I have read. I liked the main characters, Mia and Adam, much better than Anastasia and Cristian (50 shades of Grey). I will definitely read L.M. Carr's next book!
I loved Mia and Adam. I read this whole book in one sitting because I loved them too much to put them down and walk away. I can't wait to see what happens next for both of them. The author has a beautiful way with words and I'm so thankful I took the time to meet these characters.
AMAZING! The creativeness in this story was captivating!
A true romantic suspense that felt like a rollercoaster ride. I was completely pulled in at the beginning with the background and Mia's history, the build up of Mia and Adam's undeniable sexual tension, the freedom when they gave in, the twists and turns then abrupt stop leaving me wanting more. Clever writing leaving the reading not only wanting to read Book2, but needing it like an adrenaline junkie.
Teacher Mia Delaney has returned from her summer break ready to start the next school year after recooperating from a broken heart, but mainly humiliation after her boyfriend decides to sleep with Mia's lifelong nemesis, Gina. Upon her return she discovers a new man has moved to town after she has numerous unexpected, steamy and sexually charged run ins with Adam Lawson. Oh, by the way, he is the parent of one of the neweset members of her second grade class. Not understanding if he is an arrogant ass, dating Gina the Grinch, or what exactly his game is Mia tries to dismiss him, snub him, act like he doesn't effect her at all. Her inner lady parts aren't exactly on board and making their own mental play for Adam. They won't let Mia rest without Adam Lawson consuming her thoughts.
Adam Lawson can't fight his attraction to Mia either. He doesn't have time for her as his twin six year olds are demanding for a single parent, his work load is time consuming and other projects he is tied to leave him no time for distractions of a relationship. Couple all that with the fact that he does not plan on letting anyone hurt him again after his previous relationship and Adam Lawson finds himself frustrated when his thoughts are consumed by sexy school teacher Mia Delaney.
With an offer of friends with benefits on the table, Mia finds herself giving in to her desires for Adam. Mia finds she can't keep her feelings separate and tries to fight her attraction to Adam, only she may not be the only "friend" in her "friends with benefit" relationship that isn't able to fight their growing feelings.
Adam is dead set to continue with his family friendship with Gina and the DeGennaro family despite Mia's clear disdain for the lady and her family. Not knowing how much to reveal to Adam of her past with Gina, Mia is caught in a struggle with her clearly validated insecurities at the hand of this vicious woman. Add in Adam's hectic work schedules, secret phone conversations and obvious affection from the ladies and Delaney finds herself on the fence if she can trust Adam.
As walls collapse and Mia lets Adam in, she finds he is doing the same to her, allowing her to get closer, confessing his feelings, including her in his life, his children's lives. Can she trust it? Is it real? (Another twist and turn on the coaster).
With suspicions arising with Adam's work, little nuances that can or cannot be questioned and secrets revealed, is Adam safe? Mia? the twins?
I was figuratively on the edge of my seat reading this story. LM Carr done a great job raising my suspicions, guessing the next turn, debating, and begging for more. This was a great romantic suspense novel that leaves you ready for Book 2.
Giving In to You by L.M. Carr is her debut novel and is the first book in her Giving trilogy. I was expecting quirky, steamy and quick. I was blown away by a plot that unravels slowly, a romance that will simultaneously break and mend you, and a cliffhanger that will leave you shaking a fist at the heavens screaming "Why?!?".
Mia and Adam cross paths so many times that it truly does seem like fate is involved. Mia is a second grade teacher in a small town where everyone knows everyone AND their business. But it is home to her and she loves it. She has darkness in her past that slowly is revealed throughout the story.
Adam is new to town. He is drawn to Mia despite her almost hostile behavior towards him. When he realizes she is the teacher to one of his children it opens up more opportunities to "encounter" Miss Delaney.
There is a chemistry between these two that cannot be denied. Mia is sweet and caring AND tough and Adam is protective and willing to break his own rules for the sake of getting closer to Mia.
This story is so much more than a romance. There is intrigue and danger and darkness weaved into the pages. I absolutely freaking loved it - right up until the To Be Continued notice as the 100% mark arrived too soon.
This book was sexy, hot, intriguing and it sucked me right in from the first line alway to the very last sentence of the book. Let me begin with the sexy, delicious, intriguing, intense, Adam, oh my that man was sex on a stick but thier is also alot of depth to his character. I liked reading about this character growth thier is so much more to him besides being sex on a stick. And the object of his desire the one the only Mia, wow I really loved her character she was sweet, caring, loving, she did so much for others. My heart really broke for her she was treated so ugly by Gina (Troll) she was jealous of Mia, always making her feel bad and trying to bring her down.Thier so much going on in this book it keeps you guessing what is what and who is who and I loved that. L.M. Carr writing keeps you wanting more and more and how she able to just keep you guessing. Then thier the secondary characters some you will love and some you will hate others you will be trying to figure them out and the ending oh my this book will leave you in a book hangover for days. *I received A ARC on behalf of bookalicious babes blog in exchange for A honest review*
Mia Delaney is a 27 year old second grade teacher who hasn't got the best past with relationships. Having been screwed over by past boyfriends, she no longer wants to take the risk of giving her heart away. When she goes for a run and bumps into a sexy stranger, she doesn't think she'll see him again. But when he starts popping up all over, she starts to take more notice of him. Still determined to not get involved with him, he slowly starts to wear her down. I loved Mia. She's a sweet, genuine, caring person who really deserves her own happiness. Just as she starts to find her happiness, secrets, lies and an ex best friend all get in the way. Can she really trust Adam not to hurt her? He's keeping so many secrets, it would be hard to. And even though we do find out what some of those secrets are, i'm still not 100% sure i trust Adam. Now saying that i still loved him. Sweet, sexy, fantastic in bed, arrogant, possessive, funny, moody, secretive and a brilliant dad, he totally won me over. If you're looking for a hot, sexy, sweet read then i highly recommend this book. Can't wait for more to see if Mia will get her own HEA.
Giving In To You will make you give in to reading it all in one sitting! Adam will really make you want to never put him down!
I have to say that this book is written so well. I seriously fell in love with it from page one. Mia is a woman who I'd love to hang out with. She is kick a$$, funny, witty, and smart! She has a lot of issues that she has dealt with and you can't help but love her character.
Enter hot, sexy and irresistible Adam! Oy Vey! He is your sexy sexy melt your panties man! He is just yummy! You'll want to kiss him, smack the hell out of him and then kiss him some more. Ya know a typical man! Lol. He truly is a great father to Madison and Luke. I love his interaction with his children. I liked how it was him who was weary of bring his kids into his relationship with Mia.
Mia and Adam have one hell of a hot romance! They are muy caliente! They are a great couple and love their story line.
There's so much I want to say with my review but if I keep going I know I'll end up giving something away!
Do not hesitate in one clicking this book! It's amazing, sexy, hot, a little mysterious and just WOW!
5 freaking stars for this book!! I didn’t quite know what to expect from this book but I didn’t expect to be so drawn in. I finished this book in one day, I couldn't put it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen, no I had to know what happened and now I need the other books to finish the trilogy so I know what happens. And it's a need to know. Mia isn't looking for love as a matter of fact she isn't looking for anything but to continue to heal from things that no one should have to deal with. Adam moves to the small town to get away from the city, hoping to get a fresh start. And a woman isn't in the plans, not for the long haul anyway. But a chance encounter with them has both of them thinking about what if's. But they both have secrets that is holding them back. But is it going to cost both of them a once in a lifetime kind of love? That's all I'm giving you all because you need to read this romantic suspense book for yourself. I highly, highly recommend it. You will not be able to put it down so make sure your Kindle is fully charged.
Roller-coaster but in a good way. I liked Mia from the beginning she's a teacher who only wants to over come the heartache left behind by a douche bag. She doesn't want love or a relationship just sometimes she is so lonely she just wants to be wanted. Her best friend is married and though she is happen for them she is jealous because she wants what they have. After she runs into a hottie on the hill she bumps into him everywhere which is really weird. Total stalker is what I'm thinking however there is more to this story. Adam moves to a new town determined to make a fresh start when he keeps running into Mia is it a coincidence or fate? The story just keeps getting better every time they run into each other. However looks can be deceiving and in this story they are. I really enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down.
So frustrated right now! I started this book via Audible. Then I got so into it, I pulled out my kindle to read it.
Both versions are great, but I couldn't stop. Once that wicked man has you, you can't avoid his grasp...
Mia has been let down, shit on, and run over in her life. She has zero to nil trust in men...because she's been shit on and run over. She can't work up the enthusiasm to deal with her ex. She has no desire to go back to that mess. But he won't leave her alone. Add to that the sexy man in the park and Mia is a busy girl. Except really she wants nothing to do with either because both spell Trouble. With a capital T.
But remember when you one click, this is part of a trilogy and ends in an abrupt WTF moment! I suggest one clicking them all and then binge reading because there is no way not to continue!
All I have to say is that I loved this book. It was incredibly written and I fell in love with Adam and Mia, you could tell they had a connection through there banter. There some point in the story that is Adam was real in front of me I would shake and ask him to open his eyes but on the other hand i understood his hesitation. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is definitely the type of book you just cant put down. I have a small book club and we read it as one of our books and it was unanimous through out the group that it was an excellent read. I don't want to say too much because I have a bad habit of putting spoiler alerts; so all i'm going to say is that you must read this book!

Oh...my... Gawd! This read took hold of me from the go and didn't not let me go until I was done!! So amaze!! When I had to put my kindle down to go to work (boo) or sleep (Wa Wa Wa) lol. I hate when I have to do that stuff and they keep me away from a book I'm addicted to. Mia and Adam will blow your mind! Mia is such a sweetie but things aren't always as perfect as one thinks. And Adam! Oh, Adam! Can he change his ways to be a part of Mia's life? Idk.... You will just have to wait and see. And just so you don't say that I didn't warn you... This baby ends in a "wait I want more!" Cliffhanger!
