About the author

Scottish-based author Eve Riley was born in Dunfermline, a small picturesque town in Fife. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics, she worked in advertising agencies for ten years before setting up her own market research company, which she ran successfully for twenty years. She then began working
with technology startups, which spawned the ideas for The Refusal. Over the last eight years she has pursued her childhood dream of writing.

Her romance series The Techboys Series revolves around three men, Janus, Fabian, and Adam, who by chance sit next to each other in their first
computer science lecture at college. Their contrasting personalities result in them helping each other out, and, as they rescue one another from various scrapes, a deep bond develops. The books meet them years later in New York City as they struggle to get their lives on track.

Eve lives in Edinburgh with her husband and has two grown-up children.

Janus and Jo’s story, The Refusal, is the first novel in The Techboys Series, and will be followed by a further seven novels exploring Fabian and Kate’s, Liss’s
and Adam’s unfolding stories.

Carly is stuck in pain and depression after a tragedy she never properly grieved and numbs with alcohol to make it through the day. She was a nurse, she was an artist, and now her job is providing home care to a handful of senior women.

Rig is a big and rough guy with a dubious reputation. He doesn’t say much, even when he's not off working on the oil rigs or participating in underground fighting. But somehow these two very different people manage to click, and he helps Carly learn how to live and not just exist in the pain of the past.

I completely adored the merry band of little old ladies who were Carly's homecare clients! They added so much quirk and color and made for some of the most hilarious scenes. I really liked the off-beat BFF and hope this gifted wordsmith will consider dipping her toes in mafia romance since she has the perfect segue into it with Marni.

This one is so good, with tons of emotion, and delicious smexy times. There are aspects to Carly that we can all relate to, and it's impossible not to root for her. And Rig, with his tough exterior, subtle humor, and heart of gold, will be your new favorite book boyfriend. There's nothing this talented storyteller has written that I haven’t loved, but this unparalleled, phenomenal romance will live in your heart long after the last page.

This story follows Carly, a down out of luck woman struggling with drinking and debt. Haunted by her past, she has fallen into a hole of depression and given up everything she previously loved. Carly and her best friend Marni are at their usual bar when Carly is approached by a rugged looking man named Rig. With neither looking for love, Carly invites Rig back to her place, no strings attached. Not is all as it seems and Rig has quite the reputation as Carly will find out…

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a story of growth and learning to love yourself again after past trauma. The three old ladies that Carly cares for are absolute queens and Marni is a bad ass! I found Carly so relatable and the chemistry between the characters was so strong. A quick, really easy and fun read. Definitely recommend! Liquids releases on the 9th of September!

Sometimes you pick up a book, and it’s such an interesting, deep, immersive book, it sucks you right in and you end up devouring in two days.

This story is BEAUTIFUL. I devoured this story, I loved it so much!!!!

A story about an unconventional one night stand. Misunderstanding people going through hard seasons in life, and how easily we can judge one another. The deepest, beautiful connection. Learning to love through loss, dreams, time apart and art.

This story was emotionally deep. It took us through the deepest depths of sadness, and how it can look to climb your way out. It shows us how important support systems are to get through the toughest battles.

This book was filled with the best spice.

I loved Rig. Such a burly, grumpy, man of a few words. He was an unforgettable character. The sweetest, wildest book boyfriend you need in your life.

These two find each other and immediately click.

The old ladies Carly takes care of added some cute, funny scenes to the book. I got a good laugh whenever they were around.

This book was excellently written. The connection between Rig and Carly was 🔥They were both there for each other when they both needed someone. Carly is extremely relatable and such a great FMC. As for Rig, he may become your next book boyfriend 🤣

All I can say is “wow”. Liquids was so much more than a romance. I went into it mostly blind and so glad I did. This book wrecked me in the best possible way. It healed something inside of me as well. Eve wrote this book so beautifully that I felt every emotion in my core.

This is a book about two people that are both living day to day, not happy with what life has thrown at them. It started as a one night stand and grew into this relationship for the ages. How Eve portrayed grief, dependency, and struggle was spot on. She told a story that too many people are familiar with and made it feel so real. Rig will forever hold a place for me.

Liquids is just so powerful. So full of life and loss. I could not put it down.

Once I started reading this book, nothing else existed until I finished it. Damn the way my whole soul ached and hurt for carly. She was such a strong woman, even if she didn't see it. I love how Rig just quietly became everything that she needed. I love how rough around the edges. He was and the way he didn't sugarcoat anything. Marni definitely kept things interesting and man did I love all of the older ladies!! They were such a delight. Watching the progression of a one night stand to confessing their love and possibility of children just made my heart explode with happiness. This story felt so real. It wasn't perfect or fairy tale pretty, but it was beautiful.

Wrong place , wrong time definitely rhe right guy . !

Two troubled souls ignite in this story of hurt and pain redemption and forgiveness.

Carly has been through a lot in her life shes been singed by utter devastation and took to the bottle to dim her pain .

Rig is big burley man not looking for a permanent hook up he's just a day by day kind of guy but something clicks between him and carly and maybe just maybe they can find a happily ever after once they deal with their issues at hand. Throw in a best friend whos got ties to the mafia and a couple of old broads who are full of sass and one liners and this book was a hoot to read .

Small town life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Everyone knows your business, is constantly in your business and rumors fly fast.

So when Carly took the chance and approached Rig, she was expecting a night of wild passion and to see if the rumors were true.

But what she got was a man who was deeper than his reputation would suggest.

This book took me on a ride of emotions. From frustration to sadness to joy to even some laughs. Eve truly shows what it's like to live in a small town and how people can get stuck in a rut of their own making.

I fell in love with these characters and hope to see more of them.

A Beautiful Redemption Arc

So many things about this book were unexpected.
An unexpectedly sweet hero. An unexpectedly strong but broken heroine. An unexpected partnership where both characters were able to grow into who they were always meant to be.
Eve Riley does a fabulous job of drawing a woman struggling alone to cope with what life has thrown at her. Carly is broken, and for very good reason. It would have been easy for a man like Rig to try and take control. But what he does is quietly support Carly as she figures out how to deal with her past and rise from the ashes.
If you love a dose of angst with your spice, this book delivers in spades.

I've been in a reading slump for like 2 months and this book got me out of it. It was so fun and gritty. The characters weren't polished and proper like usual characters they had more realistic lifestyles and problems. I really enjoyed reading it because it just felt real. The characters were really fun too. My heart hurt for Carley so many times but its a HEA so that's great lol

Ma'am... I didn't want to put it down but you know kids. I love a good rugged man.

I loved the way Carly and Rigs just happened. It felt real. All the ups and downs. The doubts. "Hole digging" They were real feels that I've felt and understood.
