Four years of restraint were never going to survive one week together.

Rochelle comes to Fernwicke Hall with one job: save her best friend’s wedding before everything falls apart. She’s organized, capable, and grateful for something useful to focus on after her own life takes an unexpected hit. What she isn’t ready for is Lucas, the man she’s spent four years avoiding.

Lucas kissed her once, walked away without explanation, then spent years keeping his distance. Now the controlled, duty-bound Duke has cleared his schedule to help, leaving them trapped in constant proximity while everything they never resolved rises back to the surface.

When restraint finally breaks, Rochelle realizes Lucas never forgot her either. Their attraction is intense, possessive, and deeply physical, but she refuses to settle for secrecy or temporary desire. If he wants her, she needs him to want the future she does too.

Lucas believes distance and control have protected them both, but Rochelle challenges the decisions he’s made without her. As family expectations press closer, desire stops being the hardest part of what’s between them. For both of them, wanting is easy. Letting the other person have an equal say in what comes next is much harder. Trust, honesty, and choosing each other openly matter far more.

Rochelle stops protecting herself through avoidance and starts saying exactly what she needs from love, sex, and commitment. Lucas begins letting go of restraint and learning that devotion isn’t deciding for her. Their chemistry may be explosive, but intimacy only works once possession becomes mutual choice.

An ultra-steamy best friend’s brother, forced proximity romance with mutual pining, class tension, possessive devotion, and years of buried desire. It’s about surrender without losing yourself, trusting someone enough to give them a choice, and wanting a love that can exist just as openly outside the bedroom.

The Elevator Pitch: Four years after one unfinished kiss, a meticulous wedding fixer and the duke she’s spent years avoiding are forced back into the same house. As old restraint gives way to something far more dangerous, desire collides with class expectations, family pressure, and the question of whether wanting each other is enough. What begins as unresolved tension becomes a test of choice, trust, and whether love can survive being brought fully into the open.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

What a fun, page-turning treat! Emilia King takes all the best ingredients of a high-drama royal romance—an elegant estate, a last-minute wedding crisis, a brooding duke, and years of unresolved sparks—and whisks them together into a story that feels glamorous, addictive, and full of momentum from the very first setup.

I especially loved the playful push-and-pull between Rochelle and Lucas. Their history gives the story a wonderful emotional charge, and the wedding backdrop keeps everything lively, charming, and just a little chaotic in the best possible way. King has a gift for writing tension that sparkles, characters who feel larger than life, and scenes that make you want to keep saying, “Just one more chapter.”

This is the kind of romance that knows exactly what it wants to be: bold, dramatic, swoony, and completely entertaining. If you enjoy standalone romances with aristocratic flair, high-stakes emotions, and a confident authorial voice, this is a sparkling addition to your reading list. Five enthusiastic stars for Emilia King’s polished, playful writing and irresistible storytelling!.

Bred by the Duke is another of the hot and spicy novellas in the multi author Bred by the Royals series.
FMC Rochelle has just been let go by her employer and is at a loose end when a call from her bestie Cassia begging for help because the person hired to organize her wedding had to leave for an emergency.
Rochelle jumps into action and arrives at Fernwicke Hall where Lucas Beauford, Duke of Fernwick the brides brother, and man she has always desired sends her heart into free fall yet again.
Needless to say as wedding day nears and having to work closely together the chemistry that never died between them fires up again.
Loved the story which had a little drama, plenty of spice, family dynamics, surprises, and good writing which blended into a delicious read! HEA.

Rochelle has just lost her job and when her bestie asks her to come early for her wedding as the wedding planner is MIA. She hopes she does not see one person too soon, the brother of the bride, Lucas. She has avoided him for four years after he kissed her and walked away. Luck is not on her side when she finds out Lucas has cleared his schedule to help out. The chemistry between them is still there but will he acknowledge it or will he ignore her again. After a steamy scene in the library, he is back to ignoring her, she is having none of it. There are some missteps by Lucas but they eventually find a way to HEA.

This was pretty good. There are parts that needed to be left out and a couple of typos, but other than that I have no regrets. I like that fact that she stood up to him and told him what she wanted upfront . When he chose he chose with eyes wide open. I loved her bestfriend …like she said she knew. I even loved the mom she was side swiped and wanted things to go her way. She did not wallow in it she women up and admitted her wrong.

the title is a bit misleading- but the story is great.

When you read bred, you think they’re pregnan, or there’s smutt filled pages- but alas there’s not.
There is unprotected s*x but there’s no definite conclusion:
This story is great, and for being the first book written by an author, it’s amazing.
It’s definitely a good, light hearted read… and it was a happy ending but not much for an epilogue.

You know, for 81 pages, it was better than I expected, but also could have been better. Loved the plot-link to the kink, but could have used all the spice, not just the illusion to more spice all night long; also, the angst was unnecessary to drive the plot. It's supposed to be a quick read - not so much drama.
Worth the read? Absolutely. Enjoy.

Lucas and Rochelle have spent years since their first kiss pretending it didn't happen. Now they are back together for his sister's wedding, she's the impromptu wedding planner and maid of honor. Their story unfolds as they both give up the fight so they can find forever with each other. Lots of spice and a few cute puppies along the way.

This was a fast paced, engaging and extremely light read. It is novella sized and will take less than an hour to finish. It is not an angsty read but just a lighthearted read. It is not over the top spicy but more on the light side. It is a nice break from the crazy spiced and action filled books I’ve been reading.

Part of the Bred by the Royals series. A well-written short story in this genre. The main characters carry the plot. Can't wait for the next book.

I loved this book so much! It was such a fun, quick read. I didn’t really see how the breeding kink the title implied fit in, but I also was enjoying myself so much while reading that I didn’t notice until I’d finished the book and I genuinely didn’t care. 10/10 recommend!

Tame

Very mild as opposed to the title. Enjoyed it. Filled with tender moments and some family drama and dynamics.

I loved reading about how the wedding and all the planning it took. I’d love to read more from the author.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I liked the spice. I am glad the mom wasn’t as bad as there was in other books. I recommend you read this book.

Not bad. If you’re looking for a quick, cute read, then this is it. What I found interesting is that although their interactions were brief, the attraction came on quick. If you enjoy stories where the characters fall in love fast and hard, then give this a read.

An introduction too fiery to pass up. King brings heat and heart together with addictive results. A modern day fairytale that brings temptation on the scene.
