😍😍😍😍

First off getting to read this amazing book by my friend Justin was an honour!!

The FMC Vanessa instantly drew me in! She is killed each night for some unknown reason which is so intriguing! I found myself really falling for this main character, the “dead girl”, so much as the story progressed!!

Then we meet Auster, an ordinary “nobody” who is never noticed, until things start happening that I won’t quite get into because of spoilers but I will say that Austers character dynamic is so fascinating throughout the whole book!

some honourable character mentions (without context) would be Doorscratch 😍 Beefy who is precious!! Speedy, some “puppies” (if you know you know lol)

I throughly enjoyed this book so much! I highly recommend getting it when it comes out!!

What would you do if you died every night, only to come back to life the next morning? I'd be losing my mind.

Our FMC, Vanessa, is the "Dead Girl", cursed by some unknown mysterious force to die nightly and return to the land of the living every morning. She's been experiencing this for years, separated from family, friends, her old life because everyone thinks she is dead. She is strong and resilient, yet tired and broken. I loved her character development in this book as you follow her journey from being resigned to her daily death ritual, to beginning to fight back against the powers that control her death curse. She meets some new friends on the way, both human and animal, and finds out some interesting things about herself that turn into delightfully unexpected twists for us readers.

The real star of the show for me though in this book is the MMC Auster. I loved everything about his character, from his awkward beginning to his reluctant hero status as the book progresses. He's funny, resourceful, full of failure, human, and very considerate of others. He was the true surprise to me, as I normally identify with or lean toward FMC's and instead found myself looking forward to Auster's scenes just as much as Vanessa's.

Dead Girl as a whole is cinematically written, with nods to elements of shows such as Supernatural, The Boys, and in my opinion movies like Split or Glass, or even the vibes of Sin City in some of the scenes. I loved the way Justin Diprima gives you two main characters in two separate locations, making you feel like you're reading more than one story, but then finding ways to slowly bring the characters together and merging them into one plot line. This book is spot on with the development and editing, and doesn't feel like an indie book. I'd wager this series to be republished traditionally in the future.

Masterfully created, full of emotion, intrigue, and rich detail, you'll find Dead Girl to be the start of a journey you won't want to end. With a cliffhanger like the one Diprima creates at the end of this one, you'll be anticipating starting the second book as soon as it drops. Buckle up, put on some headgear, and grab your copy today! You won't want to miss this one.

A woman who has died every night for the last five years. A nearly invisible man. These are the two heroes presented in Justin Diprima's debut novel, Dead Girl.

This book is a whirlwind of activity from beginning to end; Vanessa and Auster find themselves thrown into mysterious circumstances and are forced to face trial after trial to stay alive. I found myself moving through the novel quickly, amazed every time I took a break to see how much I had read. Paragraphs flow into the next, ensuring an easy read for such an interesting plot.

Dead Girl presents a world so like ours, with a dark side few get to see. This novel is excellent for readers who love a supernatural plot they can sink their teeth into, with elements of classic supernatural horror to keep the pages turning. If you like stories of unlikely heroes against catastrophic odds, you should make Dead Girl your next read.

I was pleasantly surprised by Dead Girl. This book was phenomenal. It was incredibly unique and entertaining from beginning to end. It has creepy moments, but they’re balanced perfectly with humour, and Justin’s writing constantly pulls you in and leaves you wanting to read just one more chapter. There were so many surprises along the way, and the characters were written beautifully.

One of my favourite reveals completely caught me off guard and made me look at the story in a whole new way. I genuinely didn’t see it coming, and it’s one of those twists that sticks with you after you finish the book.

This is an easy five-star read for me. I’m already so excited for book two. Pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this book, but these are my honest thoughts.

Horror and Humour written in a cinematic style. Yes, Justin wrote it.
Dead Girl is an entertaining read all the way.
Vanessa the FMC has a curse that makes her die every single day.
Auster is a MMC, that has his path separate from hers until they meet in a very curious circumstance.
A lot of plots that you barely see them coming.
If you love dark reading with supernatural elements, this book os definitely for you.
Waiting for the sequel that is coming late October.
