The beginning of this was awesome. I hated the MMC and OW with feral glee. Halfway in I started hating the FMC. Fortunately, there’s enough hatred in my heart for everyone. Yay! 🥳
Spoilery thoughts…
The beginning gut punches were great! Absentee, callous husband. Long suffering wife. After their anniversary dinner (where MMC brings his OW/assistant 😬) FMC is about done. OW leaves her unlocked phone in the fmc’s kitchen because she knows FMC won’t be able to resist a little peek. Well peep she does and the text messages between MMC and OW are horrible. MMC was talking total crap about FMC. Now FMC is seriously out of there. It was great reading. Angst heaven.
After this it fell apart for me. Literally while packing her crap to leave MMC she takes a pregnancy test. Of course it’s positive. 🙄
Two years later…. MMC finds FMC and learns of the baby. Unless there’s violence, I really hate the hidden baby trope. FMC turns her female empowerment moments into just being a bitch. I really didn’t like her throughout the second half of the book.
When the husband is like why didn’t you tell me, her main points were, ‘you have your assistant schedule our anniversaries and buy my gifts’. I mean the horror. I’m sure when her daughter grows up fatherless and hears all about how daddy’s assistant bought mommy’s gifts, she will totally understand. 🙄
The texts are never addressed. I’m pissed about that. The timeline was weird. They were married nine years ago, but he had only been really absent the past year. What were the other eight years like? What made him so mean in the last year? We don’t know.
How did FMC run away from her rich husband and create a thriving bakery with no loans/investors WHILE pregnant and raising a secret baby?
How did his investigators not find FMC? She only moved 11 hours away and literally just used her maiden name. My dog using Google has better sleuthing skills than these investigators. He needs a refund.
By the end I was just annoyed. Both characters had a complete 180 in personalities. As much as I hated the MMC in the beginning, he should have lawyered up. FMC had no right to keep his child from him and then continue to make seeing her difficult after he found them. I just can’t handle punishment being doled out through children. It ain’t cool.
Still rating 3, because those gut punches in the beginning were awesome! Also OW has some comeuppance, which I always appreciate. ✌️

Hero is constantly with his assistant, and he constantly treats his wife as an afterthought. He's on the phone with the assistant when he's home ignoring his wife, and he spends his long ass work days with this assistant next to him the entire time. Hell, he even brings this bitch to his anniversary dinner with his ignored and forgotten wife. The Hero and assistant take over the entire conversation during the anniversary dinner (looking like the REAL married couple), to the point the heroine just leaves the dinner without a word. The next day, in walks the assistant into the couple's apartment, taking over the coffee making for the Hero, like she is the one living there, NOT the heroine. The Hero's assistant intentionally leaves her phone behind with no lock screen on it when the Hero and assistant leave for work (so the heroine can read the texts between the two). And the temptation is too great to ignore, and the heroine reads everything. These two assholes spend all their time mocking and shit talking the heroine, as well as belittling her and making fun of the business she's trying to create.
The gut punch from all of that was excellent. The heroine walks away with a secret pregnancy she continues to keep to herself, and the kid is about a year old when the "assistant" finally tracks her down and tells the Hero where she found his wife. The rest of the story is the Hero finally trying to make amends and get his family back again, with the OW still doing little shitty things in the background. She was splendidly evil and I enjoyed that bit of OW drama she created.
The story read exactly like an old school Harlequin Romance, and I REALLY enjoyed the gut punch I got from this story.

decent story
I really did not like the MMC in this story. I did not think he was redeemable at all. The anniversary dinner there is no forgiving that.
Not even sure he wanted to be married from the sound of it.
And he is rich and couldn’t find her. She was using her maiden name. So not really hard to find. And what gone for two years and no divorce papers were sent… umm what
Again a good story but lacking some details. Would have liked a little bit of how the started to see why she even married him in the first place. But overall good story

Truth
This story goes from abandonment to pain to truth. I shoes that not all love storie start of great then fall apart but instead it fall apart in the beginning and works its way through hurt, pain and consequencies to redemption. It is a look into a couple who finally finds their love again through truth.

Meh. I was kind of done by the 60% mark.
I wanted more gut punches.

This book has two authors. Both AI I guess. But story was compelling enough to make me finish.
