Real AAs, Real Recovery shows how AA members of all ages and all lifestyles from around the world; spiritual, religious and atheists; newcomers and old-timers have recovered and found a new way of life by working the Twelve Steps. Discover a variety of experiences from AAs that have written about the Steps for the pages of Grapevine from the 40’s to the present.
This book has stories from the Grapevine from the early years till now. They cover all the steps and it is interesting to read that no matter how old the story is, from 50 years ago or more recent, the message is always the same. Another thing that stuck me is how many member use a dictionary to find the exact meaning of some words of the Big Book, like humble, powerless, sanity ... Going back to the root is often a good start for healing. Nice book.
Loved this wee book and also got a copy for my sponsor! It is an absolute brilliant read looking at each of the 12 steps and stories of how members of AA lived them out. Some of the stories are brilliant, some tragic, some hilarious, but all of them are full of experience, strength, and hope. A light read - whether one wants to read one a day or sit down and read it all in one shot.
