Elvis the Snake has left the building…

Sharon (my friend), I thought, I could never like a book about a Snake. Especially one named Elvis, but I was so wrong.
The Great Snake Escape, was suspenseful, hilarious, and had so many twist and turns, your head will spin, but in the best way possible.
I wanted an escape for à lazy, hot Sunday afternoon. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love with all the characters.
Sharon, I hope there are at least four more books in this series.

Another hit by Sharon Sala

I really enjoyed this book. Some humor, some heartbreak. Justice is served. Betrayal is eventually turned into acceptance and forgiveness. I loved Elvis the snake. He is the reason for good changes in Floy’s life.

Will be reading it again for the sense of southern life and home. Thanks, Ms Sala for a few happy hours.

Floy Beaudine had a pet snake before he got married to Mayrenne. She did not like the snake so she let it out of his cage not once but three times. Floy was shaving when Mayrenne is screaming uncontrollably. Floy cuts himself shaving, when he hears Mayreene's screams he goes running to find out what is happening. She shoves a jar of green beans at him and then slams the bedroom door causing the jar to break and cut his chest. He has no idea what happened because of her screaming. He goes down to the basement and finds the cage empty. She refuses to leave the bedroom until he finds the snake. He gets his friends to help him find it but he does not have any luck. Mayrenne calls him wanting something to eat so he stops looking and brings her home some food. He decides to go back out and this time he goes into town. Mayrenne looks out and sees the snake in the backyard with a bulging stomach. Her mother calls her to tell her she is back from Dallas. Mayrenne tells her about Elvis the snake, so her mother comes to pick her up. Mayrenne leaves in a hurry and forgets her phone. When Floy got back to his house he sees the house empty and finds Mayreene's phone on the bed. He goes to the kitchen and looks out and sees Elvis with a bulging stomach. He thinks the snake ate Mayreene. He calls the vet and he suggest they take him to the office to x-ray him. Floy also calls the police. They find out that Elvis ate a hog. So the chief of police takes Floy to the police station to question him. He arrest him because he thinks Floy killed his wife. Mayreene calls Floy but there is no answer since he lost his phone in the lake looking for Elvis. She eventually calls Donaldo the hair dresser, who tells her the story of Elvis eating her and the police charging Floy with her murder. Floy gets rid of Elvis. Mayreen comes back to town to clear up the murder story. Floy is really upset with the chief of police charging him with murder. He will not forgive him when he is released. He goes home only to find the tape on the hidden camera that shows Mayrenne letting Elvis loose. He divorces her and gives the evidence to the police. They eventually arrest Mayreene and her mother, Quilla. Mayrenne goes jail. Floy is still angry with the police for not believing him.

Great read!
Didn't know what to expect. I read Reckoning and "enjoyed" it so much that I wanted more. Saw the cover if The Great Escape and grabbed it. It took a while to get it started, but only a couple of days to finish. Marvelous characters, nice setting, and a plot that keeps you wanting more.
A ten foot long python Elvis "escapes" from his basement and the search is on. He returns home looking Luke he'd eaten a large something or other. Meanwhile Floy, his person was desperately looking for him. A comedy of errors ensues. It seems things couldn't get worse, but they do get better.
It's a comedy, but has heartache and danger a plenty.

Sharon Sala NEVER disappoints!
Such a wonderful story. You just feel for Floy and everything he went through. I love how he didn't run away and hide after unfounded accusations were lodged against him. He didn't get revenge, he quietly made them aware he was mad at them through his business.
That it took a heroic act on his part to finally get the town to apologize to him even when they knew those accusations weren't true was a lesson on friendship that they needed to learn.
And the worst perpetrators got their just reward!
