Jasmine C. Sparks lives in a little sliver of Canada known as Southwestern, Ontario. She's grown up loving the beach, collecting shells, hiking through forests, canoeing, and making once in a lifetime memories. At twenty-six years old, she now lives quietly with her husband, son and two fur babies. When she's not writing, you can find her gardening or working on cars in her free time. Jasmine C. Sparks can always be spotted with a dark romance, cowboy or billionaire romance, and a fantasy novel in her bag every time she leaves the house. At least currently. She also has a big soft spot for morally grey men and enemies-to-lovers. Jasmine C. Sea of Lies was my first book by Jasmine C. Sparks, even though it’s the third book in a series of interconnected standalones, and I never felt lost. It works really well on its own while still making me interested in going back to read the earlier books.
Claire is definitely a bit of a hot mess, but she’s so easy to root for because her heart is always in the right place. After experiencing so much loss at such a young age, it’s understandable why she’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep from losing another parent. Her decisions aren’t always perfect, but they come from a place of love and desperation.
Ryker’s story was heartbreaking in a different way. His childhood and upbringing shaped so much of who he is, and seeing him once again forced into the role of protector made it impossible not to sympathize with him. Watching both Claire and Ryker work through their pasts while finding their way to each other kept me invested from beginning to end.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It had emotional depth, engaging characters, and enough romance and tension to keep the pages turning. I’ll definitely be going back to read the other books in the series.

Where do I start with this review 🤔

Its a interconnected standalone, you could read her first 3 books but not necessarily needed! I did, and have the book shelf trophies to prove it!

Sea of Lies will keep you on your toes, and wanting to know what happens next! Following Claire and Ryker through Astana has never been funner to be honest. The one liners, the tension between the main characters, the lies uncovered that had me gasping that I wasn't expecting, the little easter eggs about the next books and series, just chef kiss!

You meet Claire the FMC in The Lost Prince and then again in The Heir of The Eternal as a hot head, stubborn, feels all the feels little girl. She was saved by the now queen 👸 now she still very much the same spunky, spicy, sassy and now an adult but has lived under the shadows who have raised her. I throughly enjoyed reading Claire discover who she is and what she stands for on her own bit by bit, she for sure doesn't take the easy way of finding that side of her. She does have a helping hand along the way.

Which brings me to Ryker, boy oh boy can I relate to the MMC and his upbringing. I don't know how many times I highlighted or just thought to myself wow we have the same shitty parent. Even with the crappy parents he had, he was one of the only characters that fully understood Claire emotionally and mentally. Plus he fell first and HARD lol 😆 some of his one liners when they first ran into each other where too funny! Does he have an addittude problem yes, but his looks make up for it lol does he stand up for himself in the end? yes! Does he get his girl back? hell yeah he does! He may be one of my favorite characters.

Each time Jasmine writes a book the story just keeps getting better! This conclusion of the series was amazing, the cherry on top some may say! It was nice to see the other characters one last time, as sad as I am about this series ending I know there is more on the horizon.

Sea of Lies was one of those books that slowly pulls you into its world until you suddenly realize you're completely invested in what happens next.

The story delivers a compelling mix of tension, secrets, and emotional moments that kept me turning pages. I especially enjoyed how the author layered the mysteries throughout the narrative, revealing information at just the right pace to keep me guessing. Every new revelation added another piece to the puzzle, making the reading experience both engaging and satisfying.

The characters were a major highlight for me. They felt realistic, flawed, and easy to connect with. Their relationships evolved naturally, and I appreciated seeing their growth as the story progressed. The emotional stakes became stronger as the plot unfolded, making several moments hit harder than I expected.

While I enjoyed the book overall, there were a few sections that felt slower than others, which is why this landed at 4 stars instead of 5. However, those slower moments also helped build the atmosphere and deepen the characters, so they still served a purpose within the story.

Jasmine C. Sparks does a wonderful job balancing intrigue, emotion, and character development. If you enjoy stories filled with secrets, twists, strong character dynamics, and a plot that keeps you curious about what will happen next, Sea of Lies is definitely worth picking up.

Sea of Lies by Jasmine C. Sparks is an ambitious and layered story that blends human beginnings with fantastical elements like mermaids and a winged god, creating a world that constantly evolves. The scope of the narrative is impressive, and it truly feels like a journey through multiple realms and identities. Sparks clearly isn’t afraid to take risks, and that creativity makes the book engaging and memorable.
At the same time, that wide scope can feel like a double-edged sword. The shift from the human world to the underwater realm felt so drastic that it almost read like two separate books merged into one. While I appreciated the originality, the transition didn’t fully work for me and occasionally pulled me out of the story. There were moments where I considered not finishing, but I’m glad I stuck with it. The complexity and imagination make it worth the effort. However, the ending didn’t quite land for me; it felt a bit drawn out and ultimately underwhelming compared to the buildup. Overall, this is a creative and worthwhile read, especially for those who enjoy intricate, genre-blending stories, but it may require patience and an open mind.

This is book 3 in the Lost Prince Series, but it can be read as a standalone. I have not read the others in the series, and I had no issues with this one.

I enjoyed Claire and Ryker's journey. Claire is tired of being looked at as the orphan girl who can't do anything right so she embarks on a journey to prove herself and to help save her mother. She is stubborn and determined, but she did not expect to run into a very grumpy and guarded man that is determined to uproot her plans.

Both of them are on very different journeys for very different reasons and things end up getting messy pretty quickly. We have lots of lies and twists that were totally unexpected. We do shift from the mortal realm to the underwater realm rather quickly in this one and that transition didn't work the best for me.

If you're looking for a story with a very interesting journey through multiple realms, magic, mermaids, gods, lies, secrets, banter, and some emotional damage, then this one might be for you!

4⭐️ This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Every time I thought I had things figured I absolutely did not. The title couldn’t be more fitting because almost everyone seems to be hiding something, and peeling back those layers was one of my favorite parts of the journey. The characters felt messy and real, and while they didn’t always make the decisions I wanted them to, I understood why they did. That made me care about them even more. If you enjoy stories filled with secrets, betrayal, emotional tension, and twists that make you question everything you’ve read, I definitely recommend picking this one up.

I was worried I would be lost because I did not read the first two book in this series. Ms. Sparks assured me it could also be a standalone, so I dove in. I’m glad I did. An heiress and an angel of death, Clair and Ryker, meet during unfortunate events and things get messy quick. So many lies, plot twists and gut punches happen all throughout this book. The author takes us from the mortal world to the seas and back again flawlessly. The characters are bratty but lovable and it seems everyone has something to hide. The love story is heartbreaking at times, which all decent love stories should be. Thank you Ms. Sparks for this fun read.

I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Sea Of Lies by Jasmine C. Sparks. I gave this book 4 stars. This is book 3 in a series of interconnected standalone’s but you can read this book without reading the others first. This book was an engaging read that spans between mortal and eternal realms. I found at times there was information given that was not revisited, or beneficial to the story, but those moments were small and didn’t heavily impact the reading experience. If you are looking for a book that has magic, gods, betrayal, and found family, I would recommend giving this book a read.

Sea of Lies is an emotional, twist-filled fantasy with lovable, flawed characters and plenty of surprises. Claire and Ryker's pasts make their journey feel authentic, and their chemistry kept me invested from start to finish. Every time I thought I had the story figured out, another secret changed everything. If you enjoy emotional fantasy packed with romance, betrayal, and unexpected twists, this is definitely worth picking up.

✨🔱Loved Claire and Ryker! The banter was cute and fun, making me giggle out loud more than once. But underneath that banter, the connection and love that grew between these two was heartwarming. If you like a Romantasy filled with lies, secrets, and emotional damage, this book is for you! The author definitely didn’t fib with the title!🔱✨

This was the first book I read by Jasmine C. Sparks. I love the banter and tension between the two MCs. I got through it fairly quickly, but there were a couple of spots I think I missed something and I got really confused for a bit. But over all an interesting story, with intrigue, banter, and tension.
