Midsummer Madness

Rate this book

For Juliet Huddleston, being a virgin was anything but funny. It was downright humiliating. She's practically invisible to everyone, including hotter-than-molten-lava Cody MacIntyre-- her client, her oldest friend and eye candy for every woman in town. By her thirtieth birthday, Julie's had enough. She makes a resolution to ditch the quiet-mouse routine, and finally give her Inner Assertive Woman a voice.

But no one-- including Julie-- was prepared for exactly how assertive she could be. Not only is she now the new director of the town's midsummer festival, slipping into super-sexy attire and driving a red-hot car, but Julie's also decided to indulge in a little midsummer fling-- with Cody. Now the entire town, including Julie herself, is wondering what happened to the old Julie...

This book was basically about a heroine who has been always invisible her whole life, a good girl but now that she has turned 30 and her older parents have retired she is making some changes in life, different from the mouse she has always been so she volunteers to run the town festival, the hero Cody who is supposed to run it, isn't sure she can since she has always been timid.

They are both the same age and have been friends but never been that close, he was kind of like her protector in her younger years. The relationship and both of their changed feeling towards each other seemed normal and not out of the blue. The hero has always been someone important and attractive so much so he feels like a sex object sometimes so once the heroine gets past the stage where she doesn't want to get involved with him and refuses to talk about them, he feels she doesn't want anything deeper with him.

The exact opposite is true, she is in love with him and thinks he may find someone more shinier since despite the changes in her the past few months she still isn't that sure about herself.

A short sweet story.

Nebylo mi úplně jasné, proč by někdo, kdo odhalí počmáraný obraz, vykřikoval: „Odhalili jsme nesmírně cenný poklad.“ (s. 122)
„A priceless treasure has been defaced!“

s. 122 Jakmile svou historiku skončil
s. 147 přistoupil k jejímu vozu a řekl jí, nadzvedni kapotu.
„Tak co,“ zeptala se.

3 stars. Because the heroine had communications problems and went a bit TSTL towards the end.
