### A thriller that made me forget I am not much of a fiction reader

I am not usually a fiction reader. Most of what I read tends to be physics, self-help, or other nonfiction. I picked up *The Shiv Link of Jesus* almost casually through my book club, without knowing what to expect.

I started reading it on a Saturday. During the first few chapters, I felt the story was moving unusually fast, and at times I wondered whether certain situations were being resolved a little too conveniently. But somewhere around chapter 15, the book completely pulled me in. By the final stretch, I simply could not put it down. I started one day around chapter 18 and finished the entire book that same day.

What impressed me most was the sheer number of ideas and storylines the author manages to bring together. Religion, history, science, genetics, the Holy Grail, secret organisations, politics, Kashmir, Buddhism, Christianity, and the possible connection between Jesus and India all become parts of one larger mystery. There is a lot of information to hold in your mind while reading, but that is also what made the experience so enjoyable for me. By the end, the different pieces come together in a very satisfying way.

The characters were another major strength. Vayu and Krishna were among my favourites for much of the book because I loved their investigative dynamic and the way they followed clues and connected the dots. Baba Om was a character I disliked for most of the story, but by the end my perspective on him shifted considerably, which made him much more interesting. Neel also has an excellent character arc.

Davy, surprisingly, was not my favourite character through much of the novel, but by the end she became my favourite. That itself says something about how well the final part of the book brings the characters and their motivations together.

What stayed with me most, however, was the larger idea behind the thriller. Different institutions, organisations, cults, and belief systems may oppose one another, yet each can become so invested in protecting its own narrative, power, or agenda that the pursuit of truth becomes secondary. The book explores that idea very effectively without losing its identity as a mystery thriller.

Of course, this is fiction, and I would not treat every historical or religious proposition in the story as established history. But as a fictional exploration of these possibilities, combined with mystery, conspiracy, science, and philosophy, it worked extremely well for me.

Most importantly, the ending justified the buildup. It was not merely about delivering a shocking twist. It connected the dots, gave meaning to the characters and their actions, and left me genuinely satisfied after finishing the final chapter.

For someone who rarely reads novels, finishing this book and immediately wanting to talk about it says enough.

A genuinely gripping and thought-provoking read. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy mysteries that make them think while they read.

Beautifully written by Natalia Suri Gupta, a JNU-trained scholar and former IIT Delhi academic.


This book is divided into 55 chapters, which kept me extremely curious throughout. At the same time, I found myself getting completely immersed in the story because its title, theme, and storyline kept me engaged until the very end.


The title itself was very attractive and was the first thing that caught my attention. The concept was completely new to me, and that immediately made me curious about what the book was actually about.


This is a mystery thriller that explores spirituality, mythology, history, and conspiracy.

The story revolves around Davy Christo, an Italian geneticist, who comes to India because of her family’s past and her grandfather’s controversial research. What initially looks like a research-related journey slowly becomes something much bigger.


Davy finds herself pulled into a mystery involving two major religious traditions and a revelation powerful enough to affect faith, history, power, and people across the world.

For me, the biggest strength of this book is curiosity. The story constantly made me want to know what would happen next and where the mystery would eventually lead.


I really liked the character of Davy Christo. She is a researcher and an adventurer who is determined to find answers and uncover the mystery surrounding her family history. I found this aspect of her character quite interesting because her journey is not only about research; it also becomes a personal journey to understand her family’s past.


I particularly found the Shiva–Jesus connection very interesting. This was a completely new concept for me, and it definitely made me more curious about the story and the direction in which the author was taking it.


The Indian setting, temples, historical locations, spirituality, ancient symbols, and the contrast with the Vatican created a very cinematic atmosphere for me. These elements attracted me even more and made the story more engaging.


Overall, I really liked this book. The author has done a good job of bringing mystery, history, spirituality, mythology, and conspiracy together in one story.

While reading this book, you have to keep an open mind regarding religious history and speculative theories. The information, with deep historical and symbolic detail, means it demands active, attentive reading.
I recommend this to fans of Dan Brown, religious conspiracy thrillers, and historical mysteries who enjoy bold stories that challenge accepted narratives.

Okay, one might think what kind of title it is!? But trust me as you dive into the story the meaning hidden behind the title will be revealed to you and you will wonder how the author came up with such intriguing title. (I'm also wondering that)

I wouldn’t be surprised if it creates controversy. It enters sensitive territory involving the Vatican, Jesus’s possible connection with India and the symbolism of the Shivling.
The story starts with Davy Christo, she’s a scientist whose investigation becomes deeply personal because it concerns her grandfather’s ruined reputation. She’s courageous, emotional and willing to risk everything for answers.

The lines that are going to stay with me:
...the secret of shiva is in the Vatican, and the secret of the vatican is in shiva. .... it will change hoe people see religion. .....
.....And as the figure emerged from the shadows, the sir seemed to freeze in her lungs. IT WAS NEEL.

The writing style is daring mirror, this is because it questions whether faith is truth or just a narrative. And while her symbolism of Shiv and Jesus is bold, it sometimes risks oversimplifying centuries of theology.

Will definitely recommend to the people who like religious conspiracies, and historical thriller.
Whether you agree with the book or reject its ideas, you’ll want to know what happens.

I thought I was reading a mystery thriller. I didn't expect to finish it questioning history.

What first pulled me in was the sheer audacity of the premise—a fictional mystery that brings together religion, spirituality, mythology, science, hidden identities and long-buried secrets. But what kept me reading was the way the mystery kept expanding with every revelation.

My favourite character was Davy Christo.

Davy isn't just someone who happens to be at the centre of the mystery. Her curiosity is what drives it. As an Italian geneticist who comes to India to revive her grandfather's controversial research and understand his troubled legacy, she begins with questions about her family but soon finds herself chasing something far bigger. I loved watching her question what she was told instead of simply accepting it.

The recurring symbols, hidden clues, mysterious connections and shifting loyalties kept me guessing. Just when I thought I had understood where the story was going, another piece of the puzzle changed the picture.

What stayed with me most was the book's ability to make me wonder about the stories we inherit, the narratives we accept and the parts of history that may have been lost, suppressed or simply left unexplored.

Of course, this is fiction, and I wouldn't read its religious or historical propositions as established fact. But as a fictional exploration of those possibilities, it is incredibly thought-provoking.

And Davy's journey made it even more compelling for me.

She came looking for answers about her grandfather.

I finished the book wondering how many things I had accepted as answers without ever questioning the questions.

Soon enough, Davy finds herself in pursuit of a secret that may link two great religious traditions and have repercussions that extend beyond her own family.
The atmosphere was something I really enjoyed. The integration of Indian temples and historical sites, Vatican, ancient legends and codes gives the book a cinematic touch. As the story moves along, elements that initially appeared to be insignificant gain more meaning as the mystery unfolds. Davy is also a good character. The protagonist's intelligence, curiosity and determination made the journey easy to follow while the supporting cast added extra layers to the mystery. I especially loved how the book is not just action-oriented but also makes you join the dots and challenge-set beliefs.

And that’s exactly what made The Shiv Link of Jesus such an interesting read for me.

What I appreciated about this book is that it doesn’t rush to give you answers. Instead, it slowly pulls you deeper into a maze of questions. Every time I thought I understood where the story was heading, another clue, another piece of history, or another revelation made me rethink everything again.

The protagonist, Davy Christo, isn’t your typical action hero. She’s a researcher, someone driven by curiosity. And because of that, the mystery feels more grounded. You’re not just watching someone chase a secret, you’re uncovering it alongside her.

And as I kept reading, I realized that the real mystery wasn’t whether the secret was true.

The strongest aspect of the novel is its atmosphere. This book really challenged the way I think about history, religion and the stories we think are true. The book makes you think on your own rather than believe the narratives, and no matter you agree with the points or not, you will find the story very thrilling.

I recently finished The Shiv Link of Jesus by Natalia Suri Gupta and this was such an intriguing read. The premise itself grabbed my attention because anything that mixes religion, history, mystery and a buried secret is going to make me curious. (Okay, I wanted to know where this was actually going 😭)

What I really enjoyed was Davy as the protagonist. She is intelligent, curious and determined, and I liked how her questions slowly pulled her deeper into a mystery that was much bigger than what she initially came to India for. You can actually feel her curiosity growing with every discovery.

While I was reading the story literally kept me hooked with the recurring symbols, hidden clues, strange connections and most importantly those little details that make you stop and think. I especially enjoyed how all the pieces slowly started coming together without giving everything away immediately.

I also loved the way the author brings together history, spirituality and suspense. It gives the book a very different atmosphere and makes you question how much of what we know is actually the complete story. (Some of the revelations definitely made me pause!)

If you enjoy books that make you question what you know, with a strong female protagonist, mystery, history and spiritual elements, this is definitely one to pick up.

Looking at the cover, you might think this book is purely religious or revolves around a particular religion. But no that’s exactly where we’re wrong! This is actually a fast-paced thriller, and the writing style is so different that you’ll love it.

I honestly didn’t realise how quickly I was reading because the mystery kept pulling me in. Yes, the story has elements of history and religion, but that’s exactly what makes it unique. The strongest aspect of this book is its unique concept. The author combines mythology with mystery in a way that keeps you curious about what comes next. The plot raises interesting questions and offers plenty of twists that make it difficult to put the book down.
At times, I felt the pacing could have been tighter, and some characters and revelations deserved more depth. Even so, the originality of the story makes up for these shortcomings.
If you enjoy mysteries that blend history, mythology and thought-provoking ideas, The Shiv Link of Jesus is definitely worth reading. It's an unconventional novel that stays with you long after you've finished the last page.

I also liked how they showed architectural details. This book is a detailed read. And, it felt like watching a movie.

It was such a good book. If I wanna really talk id have to say the bg is really attractive and I loved it! And then comes the story and I don't wanna give spoilers. But even if you are an atheist go read the book! Shiv Link of Jesus is a really interesting book because it mixes mystery, history, religion and spirituality. The whole idea of exploring a possible connection between Jesus and Shiva is unusual and definitely makes you curious about where the story is going.

I liked Davy as the main character because we discover the mystery along with him. His journey through India, the clues he comes across, and the secrets surrounding the story keep things interesting.

What I enjoyed most was the concept. It makes you think about religion and history from a different perspective and leaves you with quite a few questions. The mystery and symbolism also add to the overall atmosphere of the book.

Overall, I found it thought-provoking and different from the usual mystery books. It's especially interesting if you enjoy stories that mix mystery with history and spirituality....

One of the novel’s greatest strengths is its relentless unpredictability. Just when you think you’ve figured out what’s happening, another twist changes everything. The author masterfully creates an environment where trust is impossible, forcing both Davy and the reader to question every character’s motives.

‎The Shiv Link of Jesus is one of those books that leaves you questioning everything you know even after you’ve finished it. I’m glad to say that it didn’t bore me one bit, and that it managed to combine a bunch of different elements into something that flowed really well. It made me wonder things about history, mythos, science, and religion, but the most impressive thing is that it never failed to entertain.

‎Davy Christo is a clever protagonist to follow on her quest, and the race to find the mysterious link in both India and Vatican was exciting. The book had great secrets , reveals, and twists to keep you on your toes. And what can I say about the beautiful descriptions and settings? It just made everything so much more lively and engaging.

‎If you like cerebral conspiracies and thrillers like The Da Vinci Code , then you won’t be disappointed by this book. It made for a surprising, exciting, and thought-provoking adventure.

Characters with disguised identities, idea of mysterious connection between 2 religions and an ambitious and thrilling premise - The Shiv link of Jesus has all the ingredients of a gripping mystery thriller.

The story follows Davy as the main character who travels to India from Vatican with the noble mission of restoring her grandfather’s tarnished legacy. The narrative follows rapidly covering many major geographical locations across India and uncovering new characters, secrets and political vendetta.

While the plot and idea is intriguing, the action sequences occasionally felt slightly exaggerated, and the many characters and parallel plotlines made it somewhat challenging for me to form a deeper emotional connection with the story.

The ending was a shocker as well, with a revelation that I genuinely didn’t see coming.

It has attempted shades of the conspiracy-driven, religious mystery thrillers that Dan Brown readers might like to read

Every book tells you a story but not every story teaches you something new. Shiv: Link of Jesus is one of those books that doesn’t just tell you a story. It gives you information, a different perspective and leaves you questioning things. And maybe that’s exactly why it’s so controversial… because it’s talking about religion.

The book explores the possibility of a link between Hinduism and Christianity through mythology, history, religious texts and symbolism. Whether you agree with the author’s theories or not is completely up to you, but one thing is certain that it will make you think.

What I really enjoyed was the storytelling. Every character feels like they’re trying to solve a mystery. Every chapter leaves you wanting to know more. But at the heart of it all is just one question - is there really a link between Christianity and Hinduism?

One character that really stood out to me was Vayu, a police officer. His storyline genuinely reminded me of Bollywood thrillers like Talash and The Family Man. It has that investigative, edge-of-your-seat feel where you’re constantly putting pieces together.

As the story progresses, every character is trying to uncover this connection from their own perspective. And honestly, while reading it, I found myself going back and fact-checking some of the references. That’s when I realised how much research has gone into this book.

I also had the chance to speak with Natalia and she told me it took her eight years to complete this book. Eight years! Considering how many theories, debates and sensitive discussions are attached to this topic - from the Vatican to Amarnath - that honestly didn’t surprise me.

So if you’re looking for a fast-paced story that feels like a movie, keeps you hooked from page one, and makes you explore topics we don’t usually discuss, this is definitely a book worth checking out.

For me, it’s a solid 3.7–4 out of 5 stars. I’d definitely say—give it a shot.

This book doesn't give u some definite answers, it leaves behind questions and sometimes those questions are powerful enough to shatter your believes.
