This book told the story of missionaries in the Congo during a violent period in the 19660's. It is told from the point of view of Charles and Muriel Davis. He tells of the cruel treatment of the Congolese by the Belgians. We see that the fragmented mission groups came together with the Catholics and Congolese Christians to survive. Over one hundred missionaries their children, Catholic nuns and priest were slaughter in the most grotesque way. While I remembered much of this story from history it was good to remember what it means to be martyred for the cause of Christ. Many of these peopled were killed not for Christ but because they were white. The Congo today is probably the richest country in the world today in terms of natural resources but due to strife and corruption the people live in abject poverty.
