To get the one negative out of the way . . . I wish there was so much more! ;) I loved every second of this book and these short stories! After first reading That Moment by David Duford, I immediately fell in love with his writing. These short stories are no different—just in that they are mini versions.
Picking a favorite of mine would be a challenge . . . but if I absolutely had to pick, I’d say . . . Yep, nope, can’t do it. Each time I lean toward one, I’m reminded of another terrific plot. This was such an eclectic mix that will be sure to have something to suit everyone’s fancy. Some of these stories are so moving and thought provoking that I absolutely wanted to stay in their world longer or explore more of their story. But the brilliance of this author is landing us right in the middle of all these individuals’ lives and immediately drawing us in and getting us invested in the outcomes.
Some of these stories were downright chilling and creepy, perfect for the upcoming fall season. I really enjoyed some of these insane twists I could not have fathomed, revealing how clever this author is with his craft!
Now let’s hope he writes another longer collection for us to digest, since I was trying to savor this one, but then BOOM . . . my heart sank when I realized I was already on the last story of the anthology. And that last one is a doozy. The thing is, I know I will pick this book up again sometime to revisit these stories and characters.
