I really enjoyed this book. It was recommended to me, and I’m so glad I gave it a chance.
The story follows Payton, who meets an older man while at work and quickly finds herself caught up in an intense, whirlwind relationship while trying to figure out exactly what feels “off.” It was an easy, fast-paced read that kept the suspense going. I did see some things coming, but I still enjoyed the journey and seeing how everything unfolded.
What made this book especially interesting for me was how familiar parts of the story felt. The relationship between Ryan and Payton was eerily similar to one I experienced myself, which made some parts difficult and unexpectedly triggering. At the same time, reading it gave me an opportunity to recognize just how far I’ve come and how much I’ve grown since that chapter of my life.
In an unexpected way, the book became about more than the suspense and mystery for me. It also gave me a chance to reflect on healing, growth, and how different life can look when you’re finally on the other side of something.
Overall, a quick and engaging read with plenty of suspense—and, for me, an unexpectedly meaningful reminder of how far I’ve come.
