Rate this book
Red Little has a bone to pick with the big, bad wolf for stealing her mechanical heart. When she storms to his cabin and demands he returns it, she soon realizes he’s after more than just her heart.

Axel Wolfe wants answers only Red can provide. She was there when half of his pack perished at sea. The one that can shed light on why his surviving men recall nothing, yet Axel remembers every detail of that nightmarish day. He suspects the truth has to do with the sea nymph’s miraculous ability to walk on land.

When Axel shows her a different side of him that she likes too much, Red begins to question whether her freedom came at too high of a price for the wolf—banishment from his pack.

As the passion between them heats up, Red must make a decision. Return to the ocean, or remain on land and get the answer to the question that’s crossed her mind since Axel stole her heart.

I'm an author of paranormal and contemporary romances. Blessed or cursed, depending on my mood and where I'm at on my current WIP, my overactive imagination guides my muse.

A big fan of Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I incorporate various weapons in my paranormal romances and use out of this world names just because I can.

I requested this book to review because a Little Red Riding Hood retelling sounded like something I was in the mood for but unfortunately it's not what I got.

Firstly, there is no world-building. Occasionally, I can forgive this when the scope of the novel is small which this book is but I couldn't get over the fact that this book mostly just takes place in the woods with a horny wolf man and a girl getting it on.

This book kind of reads like a fanfic. So the whole half of this book is Axel (the wolf) I guess 'punishing' Red by sexually pleasuring her while she's practically dying because he stole her mechanical heart.. wait.. What?!

"Instinct told him she neared her descent into unconsciousness. Axel nipped then sucked on her bottom lip"

WTF?! Call the police!! The wolf police? Okay, I don't know. Just get this Axel guy away, please. All of this sexual punishment is happening also while she's telling him about a pack of wolves that defiled her.. Yup.

"Is there a reason we're not going forward?" She asked, surprised at how annoyed she was that the big, bad wolf wasn't good on his word of punishing her with his body.

In all honestly, this book was just a really bad porno, called Wolf's Red.. Rocket..

What kills me the most is that this author has such great potential! When the sex scenes were finished, the book was great! The words read well together and the writing was pretty but then the characters would make sexual remarks even around children and things got weird. I didn't hate this book but I wouldn't rush to recommend it either.

Two opposite worlds, two different creatures connect their lives by a terrible situation, an unspoken war between the wolf packs. A wolf and a nymph, the land and the sea, connected their lives but each of the two of them has a plan for the life they want to live and don't want to ruin it.
Red wants to live a life outside the water, free from the curse Sirens have and the guilt after the death they always cause. True to her willing she made it happen but with an unpleasant lose, her heart!
Axel is an Alpha male wolf whose possition has been stolen from an orphan one, breaking the line Axel's family has in the forest. Now, Axel wants to revenge to other wolf for his pack's death and take his leading back but a spell keeps him far from his plans. The only way to accomplish his plans is to make Siren talk and find out what happen at the incident back then. None of the two of them knew that universe has others plans for them!
Wolf's Red is a well writen paranormal romance finction with interesting plot and two main characters you can so easy be into them. I love the lines and the teasing they had, as for the sex....well, it's their, it's happening...a lot! Nothing to stay in our imagination! Honestly, it's my second time reading a paranormal finction after twilight saga but think it's my first enjoying it so much. I realy loved the wolf power and strength as Ashlyn Mathews describes it. Plus the fact that she give us a full view, every detail about the life these creatures have and that is what makes it a good book to read.

I was excited for this novel because I love adult retellings of fairytales. Unfortunately, it wasn’t what I wanted. The description makes it sound steampunk with some fantasy, but it was difficult to place anything because there wasn’t much description. All I got out of it was there was a forest. There is really no description of the settings beyond that.

The beginning was the worst part. The writing was mess. Everything seemed all over the place and the writing wasn’t consistent at all. The author would write something, realize we don’t have the background to understand what she was talking about, and then described past events to bring us up to speed. However, she wouldn’t write the whole scenario, she would just give us bits and pieces. The author did this multiple times so the writing came off as choppy and confusing. Once the reading makes it past that, the writing becomes more clear since we now have the whole picture (we just have to piece it together ourselves.) I felt that I was missing a lot, that there should be an prequel that explains everything. Instead, we just have to read and hope we are giving the information to understand the plot.

The story does get better if you can make it past the beginning. It had a lot of potential to be great and is an interesting idea. I just wish the writing had been better. Plus I had a hard time getting past the fact that he essentially sexually abuses her in the beginning.

Unique Perspective

I received an ARC copy of Wolf's Red for an honest review.
Wolf's Red is a unique take on the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad.
What if attraction, not hunger, was the basis of the relationship between Red and Wolfe?
Coming from different worlds can these two coexist within a web of secrets and misunderstanding ?
Enjoy this wickedly hot perspective.

I am not quite sure what to say about this book. It was not by favorite, and I had a hard time staying interested. I feel like this was supposed to be a more mature version of Red Riding Hood, but did not make it. Although I did not completely dislike it, I am sure that there are people out there who would love this book. I am just not one of them.

Fascinating mix of mythology's and fairy tales. I love the twists and unexpected nuances. I thought it was going to be more little red riding hood, but it turns out to be so much more.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.
