For vinderne venter podiet i Paris.

This book contains two ingredients.
1 part cycling race, a fictional tour de France.
1 part crime fiction, a murder mystery.

The cycling is never really exciting, as the short race snippets never gets really engaging. And as a result quickly feels like unnecessary filler. The language used during these snippets is full of metaphor's and is poetical at times.
(One the authors is described as a poet on the book jacket)

The murder mystery is a journey of discovery and infidelity. The plot is rather straight forward, but the protagonist is only able to secure circumstantial evidence. And is forced to stay silent, as the antagonists threatens to expose the infidelity to the world.
In the end the antagonists achieve their goals without consequences, and the protagonist is left exposed and powerless after burning bridges.

Literally the reader is left wondering, how the protagonist will attempt to explain the now exposed infidelity on the last line in the book.
All in all, the story feels unfinished :/

I do see the morale in how, as is the norm in modern cycling, the dope-using antagonists prevail. This does not make the ending feel any less rushed or unfinished, however.
