The Omega Switch #1
The Omega Switch: Part 1
My stepsister always got what she wanted. I just never expected her to steal my pack.
I accepted that I’m never going to be the main character, or the first choice. That title belongs to my step-sister, Arabella. She’s beautiful, charming, and a social media darling, not to mention the face of our family's company. I’m the only one that sees the darker side of her.
But I’m just the quiet stepsister hidden away in the laboratory, creating the products that made her famous. Me and my defective scent glands never stood a chance against my stepsister. Even my own family likes to forget I exist.
So when the powerful Pack Vale wanted to collaborate with her, no one thought twice. Least of all me. I’d be glad if she bonded with someone and left me in peace.
But after meeting Hunter, Elias, and Ronan, something changes in me. For the first time, I’m getting second glances and attention. And for a moment, it seems that they might be the only pack around that isn’t interested in Arabella.
But my family didn't build their empire by giving up control. And Arabella would rather cut her hair off than let me have my happily ever after. She'll do whatever it takes to convince Pack Vale that they chose the wrong omega.
But even I can’t believe what lengths she goes to when she wants a pack that I thought was destined for me.
Now, Pack Vale seems convinced that Arabella is the omega for them, and I’m painted to be a crazy, obsessed stalker. Am I?
As the stakes grow, I find myself fighting for the only thing I have left to lose. My family is determined to keep me in the shadows, and let Pack Vale be lied to.
Every moment I spend with them makes it harder to ignore the undeniable pull between us, and I have to find a way to let them know the truth before the chance is gone forever.

The Omega Switch is a slow-burn, darker, angsty why-choose omegaverse romance featuring a neglected genius heroine, powerful alphas and a charming beta doctor, family betrayal, forced proximity, protective mates, and a guaranteed happily ever after with no choosing required. This is book 1 of a duet and will end on a cliffhanger.

The way I flew through this one and need part 2 asap, which thankfully is out in a day lol! I’ve been on the hunt for more angsty, emotional omegaverse and this definitely hit the spot. A Cinderella-coded omegaverse where the omega heroine leaves behind her scent instead of a glass slipper and her fated pack goes on the hunt for who it belongs to, but instead her stepsister claims it as her own scent…!
Definitely heavy on the trauma and abuse for Ivy, the omega heroine, from her family. She’s treated horribly by them, left to work on the family’s business and get her work/credit stolen, and then her emotions don’t get a break when her fated pack gets stolen right from her too…by her stepsister! This was fast-paced and quick to get through which I liked. Definitely a few errors here and there (names misspelled, quotes/punctuation forgotten) in the ebook but nothing that altered my reading experience. Can’t wait for book 2 now and the grovel we’re gonna get to complete this story!

Very angsty
This was very hard to read and really depressing 😞 I have never disliked an mmc in an RH before but Hunter was just a pompous conceited ass. Even before the fake match he was constantly talking about how "perfect" Arabella was for his pack socially. I honestly am not sure there is enough grovelling for me to forgive any of them. For the first time ever I actually kinda hope that the HEA is the fmc choosing herself 🤣

had potential, but ai assisted writing. inconsistencies, all the hallmarks of claude assisted prose. dnf. the "author" didn't edit and change the names...
other ai assisted books with a Pack Vale - Shear Instinct same security firm story line as well, I only noticed this because I recently dnf'd that book too because of the ai writing....

3.75 ⭐️/1 🌶️—A Cinderella omegaverse retelling. I thought the plot and characters were interesting, but the world building needed more detail. The specifics of bonding through a profile (not necessarily scent) was interesting but I had no idea how it worked because it was also a personality test from your genetics…?

Imma start this off by saying I don’t think that the guys deserve ivy at all!!!! She’s been under appreciated by everyone her whole life always second best an invisible when it comes to her step sister and the guys are no different mainly Hunter. They all felt the draw to ivy but bc her sister fit the roll Hunter was looking for he was adamant she was theirs 🙄 Hunter was always going on about how the data doesn’t lie but what he wasn’t considering is that people do an Arabella is the biggest liar of them all! They all kept ignoring their instincts which was really stupid 🤬😤 I also thought throughout this book why ivy couldn’t just walk away from it then what ? Her sister couldn’t take credit for her work anymore and her so called family couldn’t use her like they did. I felt so bad for her but I also get she was financially and emotionally dependent on them so it was very difficult to just up and leave. The ending made me proud that she walked away even if she had the go through a very traumatic event and hopefully the next book ivy gets like at least one guy that’s all about her even if the vane pack grovels an wins her back her new guy can join the pack lol 😂 I do plan to read book two bc this book has me intrigued an maybe book two will be better bc this book made me frustrated which maybe was the point bc it is a miscommunication trope lol so idk 🤷🏻♀️ fingers crossed ivy gets what she deserves in book two an the guys eat their words !!!!!

I feel like this book had a lot of potential but it fell extremely short. I don't know if AI was used in writing this book but it seems like very likely. And it needs some very strong editing.

The Omega Switch Part 1 by Violet Coltair was an emotional and angst-filled Omegaverse romance that was a slow burn story with betrayal, lies, and family favoritism dynamic that can be very hurtful. Ivy has lived most of her life hiding in the background and feeling small around others. This is because her family has always made her feel this way. The same people who should have protected her, dismantled her. After her mother died, it was like she did not matter anymore. Her father and his pack brought in a new Omega with her own daughter and it was like she was invisible. However, she was the one that kept the family business going, though she never got the credit. Her stepsister, Arabella is the one who gets everything. Perfect, beautiful, extroverted Arabella.
But not all is like it seems. Arabella and her mother, are Clara, are cruel to Ivy, keep her down, and block her at every turn. Then Arabella gets the opportunity to work with Pack Vale and everything changes. When they meet Ivy, there is something there that calls to them, and vice versa. But when match results set Arabella as Pack Vale’s perfect match, Ivy is devastated. But not all is as it seems. My heart broke for Ivy and all she went through, but she was so much stronger than she believed. Pack Vale were sexy, charming and protective. Hunter, Ronan and Elias were good guys but were deceived and could not see what was in front of them. I loved this story. It was so emotional, heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. I loved it and highly recommend it.
Happy reading!

My favorite book this month! This story is a version of Cinderella. I absolutely loved the characters and the world the author built. I couldn’t stop reading. This story had me from the beginning. I am so sad that I have to wait for the second book. I hope the author makes the mates grovel and really takes the time to do so.

The couple: Hunter/Elias/Ronan and Ivy
Romance trope: omegaverse; rh; rejected mate
Series: The Omega Switch
Length: 343 pages
Plot: Ivy knows she doesn't fit in with her family, but they make certain she understands exactly how much of an outcast she is every day. Since her mother's death, her stepmother and stepsister have replaced her in fathers' eyes and she has been relegated to a servant in her own home. She does enjoy her work at her mother's company, but nobody values what she does. In fact, even though her family's new partnership with Pack Vale has brought her into contact with the most desirable single pack out there, and they seem to enjoy spending time with her, still all of the attention is going to her stepsister Arabella. Hunter in particular believes that Arabella is exactly the omega they need because she fits the image he wants for his pack. But they are her scent matches, she knows for certain. So why do they claim Arabella as their scent match? And how do you ever get over such a betrayal?
Commentary: Sad, yes, but not as compelling as it could be. I was more interested in the resolution than the action of getting there and that was not a good sign. I think it was just too predictable (mostly, I've just spent too much time watching C-dramas to not know exactly what was going to happen next). Most of all, I hated the fathers. They were terrible to just abandon their child and then to actively harm her? Kill them.

The Omega Switch: Part 1 plunged me into a darker, angsty omegaverse world, and I am completely obsessed with this story! As a huge fan of why-choose romance, especially with a neglected heroine finally coming into her own, this book delivered on so many levels. The premise of a brilliant FMC overshadowed by her stepsister, only to find the pack her stepsister desires, is pure gold.
Our FMC is a truly unique heroine. Hidden away in the lab, overlooked by her own family, and dealing with defective scent glands, her intelligence and quiet resilience shine through. I felt every moment of her frustration and pain as her stepsister, Arabella, constantly took center stage. The introduction of Pack Vale—Hunter, Elias, and Ronan—is beautifully executed. Hunter, Elias, and Ronan each bring a distinct and powerful presence, and the gradual way they start giving her second glances and attention, the undeniable pull, felt incredibly earned. Elias, the charming beta doctor, was a standout, offering a different kind of connection within the powerful alpha dynamic.
The family betrayal is absolutely gut-wrenching, and Arabella is a villain you love to hate. Her lengths to convince Pack Vale that she is their omega, painting our FMC as a crazy, obsessed stalker, created such high stakes and intense emotional turmoil. The forced proximity, the escalating heat, and the promise of a consent-driven chosen pack are all exquisitely handled, making you desperate for the MMCs to see the truth.
My reason for giving it 4.5 stars instead of a full five is that, while the cliffhanger is incredibly effective and leaves you desperate for book two, the period where Pack Vale is seemingly convinced by Arabella’s lies, and our FMC is painted as the villain, felt quite prolonged and incredibly frustrating. It’s a testament to the author’s skill in creating such a compelling conflict, but I sometimes wished for a slightly quicker turn in their realization. However, this is a minor point for an otherwise brilliantly written and deeply engaging read.
The Omega Switch: Part 1 is an angsty, intense, and incredibly well-crafted omegaverse. If you love neglected genius heroines, powerful alphas, family betrayal, and a slow-burn with a guaranteed HEA (eventually!), then you absolutely need to pick this up. I’m already counting down the seconds until Part 2!.

More like 2.5 stars. I wanted to like this more than I did. The premise has potential, but the characterization and emotional development felt too thin for me to really invest.
My biggest issue was the lack of psychological depth. The POV characters often jump to conclusions without much reasoning, while the supporting characters frequently behave in ways that seem designed to serve the plot rather than because an actual human being would make that choice. I kept wanting to ask, “But why would this person do that?” and the book rarely gave me enough of an answer.
The prose also leans heavily toward telling rather than showing. Emotions, motives, and body language are often interpreted for the reader instead of revealed through behavior, subtext, or deeper interiority. The result is oddly clinical: the book describes emotional situations without consistently making me feel much of anything.
The dialogue can have that same scripted quality. Conversations sometimes feel like characters exchanging the information the scene requires rather than people actually talking to each other.
That’s probably the biggest problem overall: these characters often feel more like roles than fully developed humans. Someone is cruel because the story needs cruelty. Someone is passive because the story needs them passive. Someone makes a terrible decision because the next plot beat requires it. I don’t need every choice to be rational, but I do need enough psychological groundwork to think, Okay, I understand how this person got here.
Instead, I spent an unfortunate amount of this book thinking, “You were real dumb dumbs.”
There are good bones here, and I’m curious whether the second book will deliver the character growth and emotional depth I was missing. But this needed richer interiority, more believable motivations, and a lot more showing rather than telling.

ARC Review – ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5 stars)
The Omega Switch completely surprised me. While I definitely had a few issues with it, I also couldn’t put it down—I ended up reading the entire book in a single day/night, and I think that says more than anything else.
The story hooked me very quickly, even though I felt that part of the middle became somewhat repetitive. There were also a few moments that stretched my suspension of disbelief a bit, even for a fictional story. My biggest frustration, however, was with Pack Vale. These are successful, experienced men, and I found it hard to believe that they wouldn’t question certain suspicious events or trust their own instincts more often. Their reactions to some situations felt overly oblivious, which occasionally pulled me out of the story.
I also tend to struggle with FMCs who seem passive or don’t stand up for themselves, and Ivy definitely tested my patience at times. That said, Violet Coltair did an excellent job portraying her quiet resilience. Even when Ivy appeared weak on the surface, there was an inner strength that kept me rooting for her, and I appreciated how her character developed throughout the book.
What really kept me turning the pages was the emotional intensity. There were so many moments that had me frustrated, heartbroken, and wanting to throw my Kindle across the room—in the best possible way. The author knew exactly how to get an emotional reaction out of me.
Now I desperately need book two. I’m hoping Ivy makes Hunter, Ronan, and Elias work hard to earn her forgiveness. Even if they were manipulated, they still ignored too many warning signs, and I want to see them grovel. A lot. And after everything Ivy has endured, I’m also hoping she finally gets the chance to take back everything that’s rightfully hers.
Overall, despite the issues I had, I genuinely enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it. If a book keeps me reading from start to finish overnight and leaves me counting the days until the sequel, it’s doing something right.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a surprise (in a good way) and an angst party (in the best of ways.) In fact, the angst was glorious. That deep emotional ache of longing and rejection and regret hit hard. It also ended on a ‘cliffhanger’ that I found supremely satisfying - something I NEVER say about them -
I am generally quite impatient with seemingly weak FMCs, and in the beginning this particular trait was difficult to get past, but I’m glad I did. Someone else mentioned Ivy’s ‘emotional resilience,’ and I think this is an apt description of WHY, despite her passive tendencies, she still resonated in a way that made you care about her character. That particular strength played off of the tension wonderfully, and I ended up really liking her. The villains (her family and step sister) didn’t have much nuance, BUT their brand of villainy worked for the story… because sometimes all you really want is to loudly and openly hate on a character, and the fam was just straight up awful. It also probably served to make us despise the MMC’s less, but it didn’t feel forced so I didn’t mind.
While I don’t think the MMCs are beyond redemption,

⭐ 2.5/5 Stars – The Omega Switch: Part 1
Look, it was okay, but it was also painfully predictable. And when I say predictable, I mean painfully predictable.
This felt like a bargain-bin Cinderella retelling with three douchey mates instead of one prince. We've got the evil stepmother, the evil stepsister, the mistreated FMC... the whole package. I genuinely wanted to like it more than I did, but I just couldn't get invested.
There’s also zero spice, which normally wouldn't bother me if the story was strong enough to carry it, but unfortunately it wasn't.
What really drove me up the wall were the MMCs. The FMC literally tells them she's their match. They already know something is off about the stepsister's scent - the Beta outright admits it while he's busy cuddling up to the evil cow and then later, both Alphas admit something felt wrong too.
Okay then... if something felt wrong, why didn't any of you do anything about it?
Instead, they happily mistreat the FMC and continue favouring the stepsister. At every turn they chose her, and no amount of future grovelling is going to change that for me.
Unfortunately, this already feels like it's heading straight into the dreaded "they're my mates so I forgive them" territory, and that's a trope I absolutely cannot stand. Men who repeatedly choose someone else and treat the FMC like dirt don't suddenly become worthy because fate says so.
Maybe Part 2 will surprise me, but at this point I think the mates made their choice - and if you ask me, they picked the stepsister.

The angst. The angst. This story absolutely gutted me in the best way. Expect a heavy dose of other woman drama, courtesy of her evil step‑sister.
The pack consists of : Ronan, Elias (the doctor) and Hunter.
I loved how the book didn’t just lean on omegaverse tropes but actually dug into the science. The way bonds, scents, and chemistry were explained made the dynamics feel grounded and believable. Ivy spends a lot of time with Elias, and their shared background adds depth to their connection, making those scenes feel more layered.
Meanwhile, she’s stuck doing all the real work while her step‑sister takes the credit. Then it escalates: the stolen perfume, the stolen fated pack, and finally the confrontation where Ivy stops shrinking herself and pushes back.
The book ends right as everything detonates, leaving us dangling on a cliffhanger that promises a full‑blown reckoning in the next installment.
Tropes:
Fated mates
Human omegaverse
Evil stepsister
Triggers:
Gaslighting\power manipulation
Family neglect.

This is a Cinderella sort of story complete with an evil stepmother and stepsister. Ivy lost her mom several years ago. She and her mom started and ran a company to help omegas deal with life. Ivy is the brains behind the business. Her father bonds into a pack that Clara and Arabella, two “perfect” omegas. Ivy is dark haired, brown eyed, intelligent, petite omega, whereas Arabella is beautiful blonde, blued eyed simple-minded social media influencer omega. She comes to the attention of the Vale Pack who owns a company similar products. Arabella is their new face of the Vale’s company. The Arabella’s pack lets the Vale pack think she is the brains of a new product that Ivy developed. I will let you guess what happens. This book was so good I read it in a day. Oh, by the way the only bad thing was it ended in a cliffhanger!!!! I hope part 2 comes out soon.

4.25 stars. This story is quadruple POV, well written, and a deeply emotional, omegaverse, Cinderella-retelling, reverse harem romance duet first half between Ivy, the female omega scientist lead, and Hunter, the male alpha pack lead and business man, Ronan, the male alpha pack member and security business owner, and Elias, the male beta doctor lead. I empathised with the trauma that Ivy carried from her family historically and was experiencing throughout the story. I enjoyed seeing her start to individuate herself and work towards her own desires. The story, as advised, finishes on a cliffhanger and I enjoyed seeing the male leads scrambling to rectify their mistakes. I am eagerly anticipating the second half and hoping for some serious grovel from the male leads, especially Hunter.

I love The Omega Switch: Part 1 and am very excited for book 2 (currently coming out October 3, 2026)! Thanks for letting me ARC read for you!
This book is a deeply emotional read. Ivy is a shy omega that has been emotionally abused by her family. Her mother died when she was little, and her fathers mated a woman with a child. Arabella is the evil stepsister and truly is EVIL. I love how Violet Coltair wrote the trauma and healing. How often people believe the abuser rather than the abused. A very poignant story. The Omega Switch is more about the growth and healing of Ivy rather than a romance. I love gritty omegaverses, and this book fits the bill. I think that you should double check the trigger warnings before partaking. It is so worth it. I cried with sorrow. Ivy is a sweet, strong, intelligent omega that is going to rock your world.

4.5 ⭐
This book hurt from start to finish. In the beginning Ivy felt pathetic to me, but in the end I believed it, understood why she acted how she did, how the abuse formed her. 😭😭😭
I am still angry with Hunter, Elias and Ronan. I really hate Ivys family and step family, although I hope at least some of Arabellas behavior is explained by poor upbringing by Clara. And I really want to learn the backstory on these two in greater detail. Next book soon please 🤞🏼
My only drawback is that the family is too bad, the are all black and Ivy is all white. I would have loved more nuances and greystones to the characters. 😉

Did you ever read a book that sneaks up on you and kicks you right in all your baggage, and then dances in it all like it don't care? Yeah. This was that book for me.
I mean, I was sweating, glaring at Hubs like he had deeply wronged me, and played empathy trauma with Ivy like we were childhood best friends. I've been reading this stuff for d e c a d e s. Rarely does this stuff hit me like this one did.
I reveled in this cliffhanger. I mean, I was sitting right there with her to be that dark, delicious, bestie, moral support. You will find me there, right next to Ivy, feeding our rage until the next book comes out.
Hope to see you there!.

That was amazing! It was SOOO well written. The way that Violet Coltair writes makes you feel like you are experiencing the story right along with the characters. I could FEEL how Ivy felt right along with her!! It was outstanding!
I cannot wait for part 2. Even though I knew this was going to be a cliffhanger, I was not prepared for that brutal of an ending! I wish part 2 was out already! I need it!!
As for Pack Vale, I hope she makes them grovel until their knees are bruised from the amount of begging! And as for Ivy’s family, (especially her dad), well, there’s a very special place reserved for them!!! They totally deserve it!
You definitely need to read this book!! It is phenomenal! You will not regret it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Omega Switch gave me Cinderella vibes in places. Ivy is living & working within her pack/family but is treated as an outsider and used by all of them. Used for her talents making products for their business but not giving her the recognition she deserved. They give all of their time and money on Ivy's stepsister - Arabella. Who is as awful as the rest of them. More so when she sets her sights on Pack Vale - Hunter, Ronan and Elias. She uses all sorts of underhand tactics to get what she wants. In turn caused Ivy all sorts of heartbreak. Which was sad to read but by the end of this book I was kinda hoping Ivy just got away from all of the toxicity from her family and Pack Vale. I'm hoping that Ivy gets plenty of revenge on everyone that hurt her in the next book.

Ivy and her step-sister Arabelle are two Omegas who are looking for a pack. The Vale Pack is looking for an omega for the pack. Hunter, Elias and Ronan own a business that helps packs find the perfect omega. Ivy and her mother developed many products to help Omegas. She was the leading scientist for the company and is very good at her job. Both her and her sister put their blood into the Vale product and got their results. Hate, love, alpha barks, lies, and jealousy and now we have to wait until book 2 find out what happens.

Part one of unfinished duet
Very good part one. SPOILERS: Ivy is an omega with an evil step mother and sister, Arabella. Her father pack has basically deserted her and has been completely smitten by this step daughter who is outgoing and vivacious but also insipid. Ivy is a studious scientist who has been the actual brains behind her family's scent business which her mother started. Arabella is given unfair credit as the face of the company. A wealthy pack partners with the company and meets both omegas. Ivy is dazzled by their attention, but Arabella wants them. She steals Ivy test results and cons the pack into thinking she's their best match. This book is filled with the drama and tension, the reader knowing Ivy is their true mate but she's alpha barked into silence. The truth comes out in the final chapters, but Ivy has finally found her spine and is on the run. Well written, minor typos on name spelling.

This was another one-sit read for me by this author and I have to say she grabbed me right from the get-go and kept me hooked until...I hit the cliffy ;P This story really pulled at all my emotions and some of them were intense. I'm also going to say that I don't think Pack Vale truly deserves Ivy. Seriously, they ignored so many of their instincts/warning signs. Thankfully, Ivy walked away from Hunter, Ronan and Elias, at the end, and I cheered her on! Of course, they need to pay to get back in her good graces and a fab grovel should be in their near future ;P I really can't wait for the next book to see how that unfolds. Good fun!

The Omega Switch reminded me so much of Cinderella. Ivy was Cinderella. She worked at her families lab and created sprays for Omegas and other products but never got the recognition she deserved. Her stepsister Arabella wasn't the kindest to her and often made Ivy feel like less than she was. I really didn't like her character at all. I understand why she was mean but it made my heart ache when she was chosen over Ivy. Pack Vale knew but they didn't KNOW and that was the driving force of how quickly I finished this book. I needed to know Ivy was safe and sound. The 'cliffhanger' is so good too! I cannot wait until part 2.

Was the goal of this story to showcase the dumbest people in fiction? If so, it succeeded. The amount of times they’re like -
“I’m a security guard, I can READ people” clearly not, dumbass
“I’m a scientist, I can see the facts,” clearly not, dumbass 2.0
“I’m the lead, I can see clearest of all,” sure, dumbass 3.0
They’re SUCH IDIOTS. I wanted something to make me cry out of sadness, not frustration at the sheer stupidity of the characters. There’s a way to make a story like this work and this book didn’t accomplish it at all. Also the author kept spelling her character’s names wrong. Arbella v Arabella, Marta v Mara, it was wild.

I wanted to love this based on the plot but I found myself struggling to get through it more than I expected. I found myself half way through just wanting to get to the point when they realized and could start their redemption/groveling. I did like the fact that the main male characters felt a pull towards her, struggled with the results of the test and what they thought they should do and didn’t all fully shun her. I hate when I’m expected to root for guys that just full on reject off the batt and don’t struggle with it but then make a full 180 when magically they realize they’re mates. There should be more behind the relationship than just a mate pull.

This book comes in like a lamb and hits like a lion. So much trauma in Ivy's life and no one outside her family believes her. I felt all of her feelings, cried with her and dreamed of her pack with her. Felt all the betrayal and disloyalty. I was so proud of her for standing up for herself and learning to take care of herself without family or pack. I can not wait for the next book. I highly recommend this book to all RH Omegaverse romance readers.

I love how the author combined omegaverse with a Cinderella retelling. The storyline had me captivated.
This book had drama, all the emotions, betrayal, and pain. My heart broke for Ivy. I obviously didnt like Arabella or Clara. However, I was mostly disappointed with her fathers.
Im not gonna lie, I hated that Ivy was such a push over. I also understand why though.
I was definitely proud of her in the end. I do look forward to the next book. I have high hopes for Ivy.
Overall, I really enjoyed it.
