THE CULVERT: A Giant Spider Horror Novella
He went in to save a mate. Now his daughter has to get him out.
Mick is supposed to be handing his drainage business over to Erin. He is having enough trouble letting her choose the equipment.
At Alder Rise, their latest job is a blocked culvert beneath a new housing estate. Heavy rain is approaching. They will inspect from outside, clear what they can reach and leave the tunnel alone.
Then a giant spider climbs over the debris rack.
A workmate is badly injured. Mick reaches him, but the animal cuts off their escape, forcing them deeper beneath the road.
Above ground, Erin works with the rescue team to find another way out. Below, the water is rising. The narrow ledges are disappearing. And the spider is being driven towards the same remaining dry ground.
Mick can hear his daughter on the radio. She has the machinery to open the outlet. But her father is trapped behind the steel screen, and moving it will change the current around him.
The spider is already at his back.
THE CULVERT is a standalone giant-spider horror novella in the Australian Creature Horror series. A desperate underground rescue, brutal creature attacks, and a father and daughter running out of time.
