A sweet, cosy, and funny opposites attract story—the protagonists couldn’t be more different, but as life would have it, sometimes they’re a perfect match.
The reserved and workaholic Morgan lives her life exactly according to her parents’ expectations. Failure is a sign of weakness, and you never show that to the outside world. But after making her first mistake on the job, she loses her job—and with it, her financial stability. She can probably maintain her luxurious lifestyle for a few months, but not much longer. What to do?
That’s where Heidi, an Australian, comes in. Duped and betrayed by her American girlfriend, she’s trying to make ends meet as a bartender, but what she really needs is a place to stay. After a few twists and turns, Heidi ends up becoming Morgan’s roommate.
Heidi is a sunny character who wears her heart on her sleeve, is honest even when it’s uncomfortable, and doesn’t mince words. You just have to love her. But since her failed relationship, her self-confidence has taken a nosedive.
Morgan grew up completely differently; nothing is mentioned that isn’t positive. Mistakes are kept hidden, and she’d rather put on a facade that isn’t real—self-confidence is her shield. I had to get used to her a bit, as I personally am closer to Heidi’s character.
I had to laugh a few times when, in certain situations, Heidi’s chaos shocked the orderly Morgan. Understandably, it took both of them some time before they felt comfortable with each other. The transformation from strangers who needed each other for financial reasons to friends and then lovers took time and was told in an entertaining and humorous way. It was lovely to see how they slowly began to trust each other and how, especially, Morgan opened up more. And as they got to know each other better, their attraction grew with it. The romance is a nice and beautiful slow-burn love story, and that’s just perfect for this story.
But what I liked best was how they fixed the problem with Heidi’s ex-girlfriend, when they took revenge together.
Cheyenne Blue has a natural way of writing beautiful, down-to-earth love stories—always with a dash of humor but also touching on more serious themes.

This is a story in which both protagonists have acted somewhat childishly. It is clear that Heidi faced a rather unpleasant situation, leaving her in a foreign country with limited financial means and forcing her to make unexpected decisions. Morgan, too, underwent an unexpected and traumatic professional shift that compelled her to alter her well-ordered life. They also have opposite personalities: Heidi is outgoing and decisive, while Morgan is more introverted and cautious. There are also so many omissions and such a lack of honesty that it creates strange and hard-to-understand situations regarding the behavior of adults. That’s why it took me a while to connect with their relationship; I simply wanted the story to end—without any real interest, and already knowing how it would conclude.

Adorable and heartwarming opposites attract romance, low angst and cozy, with plenty of sweet moments, spice, and resolution of all the important plot points that get brought up during it. I really appreciated that issues that could have lead to a schism actually got addressed as sensible adults, and really, this is a story about two women coming together at the right time and falling in love. Very much enjoyed.

Spicy, fluffy, sweet romance of opposites set in Denver (Aussie MC)
I didn't plan to read this book in a single day but kept coming back to it, reading a few chapters then going off to do something else before gravitating back to read some more. The Reluctant Roommate is a sweet, fluffy and spicy romance with a bunch of (primarily family and workplace) drama to rile up the reader as much as main characters Heidi and Morgan. The ending satisfies with several aww worthy moments and if you like a good comeuppance happening to a character who does shady things well this delivers on that front as well. Normally Cheyenne Blue's stories take place in some part (or parts) of Australia but this one's set in Denver Colorado with one Aussie main so differences between the US and Oz come up but the bigger contrasts are between Morgan and Heidi as they try to find a way to live together when circumstances unexpectedly put them under the same roof. Anyone who's ever had a roommate may find aspects of their dynamic relatable. The steamier scenes are better read in private than anywhere someone can read over your shoulder; Cheyenne Blue writes spicy bits well. Heads up for some characters mistreating and/or disrespecting others if that kind of thing bothers you; other potential triggers can be found on Cheyenne Blue's website (under Content Warnings). There is character growth and a bit of a black cat/golden retriever energy between the mains that's fun to read, but also enough scenes that are not solely the two of them to balance it all out. If you love tropes there's some here and if you want a bit of angst in your drama and romance there's a dash or so.
The Reluctant Roommate is certainly (and provably) bingeable but can be read a chapter at a time without any trouble remembering plot details in the interim. I recommend it and Cheyenne Blue's other books for solid storytelling that brings the spice and feels without turning a blind eye to everyday life struggles. I always look forward to reading whatever she publishes next because I know it'll be entertaining reading.

morgan is a successful financial advisor until one day she makes a mistake.... it had never happened before she was normally very careful with her work but she had been working very long hours for days and when she got called into the office and given notice she was devasted.... after all her job was her way of life... she existed only for her job and what it brought her
the humiliation of being sacked and shown the door plus being walked out by security was one that would haunt her for the rest of her life that any of her work colleagues couldnt even look her in the eye told its own story ... she was on her own
i have to say this was a very enjoyable read though at times i identified with heidi more than morgan... but thats the slob in me ..... but i loved how they overcame many a hurdle and how each influenced each other to make the changes needed in each other and ohhh my word the spice is very hot in this one....
i cant wait to read the next book from this author as you know you are always in for a great ride and adventure

I would tag this book as a very romantic opposites attract, humorous story with a lot of sexual tension, and smoking hot!
One moment, Morgan Favola was a highly educated, leading financial advisor for Mattingly Financial, with her sights on making partnership. The next moment found her humiliated and unemployed. She’d made a costly, careless mistake and not only lost her job, but found future employers skeptical to hire her.
Our other main character, Heidi Lincoln, came from Australia to be with her American girlfriend who ended up fleecing her bank account of 20 thousand dollars. Heidi stayed, survived and found work as a bartender in a grotty bar.
The premise behind the title comes into play as Heidi needed to rent a room and Morgan needed to find someone to rent a room to. That’s only the beginning of the scenario because I thought these two were the female versions of Oscar and Felix from the old movie, The Odd Couple! Heidi actually thought she was neat, but she definitely didn’t meet Morgan’s expectations.
Aside from being messy and unaccustomed to cleaning up after herself, Heidi was an open book. Her saving grace was how she was able to gradually loosen Morgan up, because Morgan had grown up in a family that didn’t discuss uncomfortable things. Her parents didn’t even know about her job situation, which explains why she couldn’t even tell Heidi. The way she skirted around the fact provided some interesting and enlightening moments.
Although Heidi was the lesser educated, her life experiences allowed her to help Morgan with such truths as how true friends trust each other with the good and the bad. Making yourself vulnerable makes you human. Friendship isn’t just sharing the good times. It’s being there for each other, no matter what.
As both ladies were adjusting to their needs for change, the closeness happened naturally, providing for very romantic and sexy reading!

Cheyenne Blue, the Aussie author, she can’t help but bring a little bit of Down Under into each and everyone of her books.
In this book our mains meet for the first time very randomly on a Denver street corner. The next time they meet is because one needs a place to stay and the other is experiencing some financial troubles. And that’s where I have some issues. I don’t understand the financial struggles, I mean, I do for our Aussie bartender, for the (“disgraced”) investment advisor, not so much. I think from a position like that you are either VERY comfortable or just started and have nothing. Our main seems to be in a senior role but not financially comfortable? Weird. In my opinion everything around that drags on a bit too long. I understand shame and how you are raised and stuff like that, but this… nope.
I think maybe I just don’t like this character, very rigid and borderline (who am I kidding?) OCD when it comes to cleaning and having things in the right place.
The Aussie is better, but of a ridiculous storyline for her as well with her ex. It’s ok though, for me that brought some levity that I thought was needed. I also like her sister with some sage wisdom and sibling teasing over the phone.
All in all this book is not bad, but I disliked one character which doesn’t help. I would recommend to anyone who wants to read something with push and pull dynamic and about as opposite characters as one can get.

It is definitely a "opposites attract" kind of love story—and you would be hard-pressed to find a more mismatched couple.
What’s more, the relationship develops slowly: even though the chemistry is palpable from the start, the two proceed with caution and care—or at least, they try to for quite a while.
As for the characters: Heidi, the Aussie, is lovable, a bit scatterbrained, and somewhat chaotic, but she has a heart of gold.
She followed her ex to the US—only to be thoroughly betrayed—and is now trying to get her life back on track despite having hardly any money.
Morgan is the exact opposite: organized and a workaholic who puts her job above everything else. She is shocked and deeply ashamed to have lost her job—such things simply aren't discussed or spoken of in her family.
She is extremely particular about order, and obsessive tendencies definitely play a role.
They meet and hit it off, but quickly realize just how different they are.
So, how can a relationship—or even living together—work with someone who is so fundamentally different from yourself?
Perhaps they'll realize that they can bring out the best in each other...

Unfortunately, words travel fast, and no other company in and around Denver wants to employ her. However, bills and the mortgage still want to be paid. The easiest (?) solution is to find a roommate for her free guestroom and cover some of the costs this way.
Bring in Heidi, an Aussie with a Greencard. Heidi came to the USA to be with her girlfriend, who used the chance of an open bank APP to transfer all of Heidi's money, 20,000 dollars, to her own account and then vanish. Leaving Heidi broke and brokenhearted. The hostel kicks her out after 2 weeks, and she ends up renting Morgan's guestroom.

Uptight and neat freak, Morgan and Laid back, messy Aussie Heidi make a tenuous truce when they first meet. Both needing the other for differing financial reasons, Heidi agrees to rent a room and move into Morgan’s spotless uptown town house.
What starts as a tense and stand offish arrangement is soon turned around by Heidi’s friendly and warm nature.
It took me a while to warm to Morgan but as the Author developed her character I felt I was on the same journey as Heidi and ended up loving her.
The author writes with a great deal of detail and just enough angst to keep you reading. I enjoyed the story as it didn’t feel formulaic and it was realistic. The storyline is true to the character arcs and develops nicely.
Cheyenne Blue is one of my favorite Aussie Authors and I always enjoy the Australian nuances woven into her stories. The fact this one is not set in Australia shows her versatility as an author.
I really enjoyed reading about Heidi and Morgan and this book will be placed on my re-read pile.

The author writes with a great deal of detail and just enough angst to keep you reading. I enjoyed the story as it didn’t feel formulaic and it was realistic. The storyline is true to the character arcs and develops nicely.
Cheyenne Blue is one of my favorite Aussie Authors and I always enjoy the Australian nuances woven into her stories. The fact this one is not set in Australia shows her versatility as an author.
I really enjoyed reading about Heidi and Morgan and this book will be placed on my re-read pile.

low angst, feel good sapphic romance
This is a well-done, opposites-attract romance: Heidi is the quintessential laid-back Australian backpacker, stranded in Denver Colorado, working as a bartender and in dire need of accommodation: Enter the neat and orderly townhouse of uptight, super-professional Morgan who is in dire need of a roommate after being fired from her high-flying job.
I loved how Cheyenne Blue directed the clash of personalities and the clash of cultures: it was fun to see how Heidi is adulting and Morgan becoming more human. I was not sure about a non-Australian setting by Cheyenne Blue, but no worries: Vegemite to the rescue!
This was a relaxed, low-angst, lovely romance with a good helping of hotness.

A story around 2 characters down on their luck. Heidi has been robbed and let down by the one person she came to America for. Morgan has been running on fumes at work and makes a mistake at work that costs her.
In order to make her savings cover her costs until she finds a new opportunity she needs to rent out her spare bedroom.
Easier said than done. Morgan is a tad OCD and will struggle to share her space. Heidi is also down on her luck and is looking for somewhere better to stay. Could a room with Morgan work out. Heidi will need to be a lot tidier than usual.
As time passes both characters mellow and mold together, each providing support to the other as they overcome issues and ingrained behaviours. Lovely story set against a beautiful backdrop

a roommate romance between an uptight neat freak and a slovenly free spirit, how will they ever co-exist? and the answer is very easily. very much a sensible, grounded, everyone communicates reasonably well and tries their best romance. well Morgan has a thing where she's specifically bad at communicating but she's working on it. short, cosy, and nice, with just a bit of fighting through shame to be upfront about needing help
I did find myself disappointed that the absolutely demented American accent from Switcheroo didn't come back

Can a slob and a neat freak really live together? When overworked financial advisor Morgan was abruptly fired from her job, she placed an ad for a roommate to help cover her above average lifestyle. n when Aussie bartender Heidi's life implodes after her ex girlfriend stole $20,000 from her, she answers that ad. They could not be more different, but I really enjoyed both characters and the way in which Heidi seemed to soften Morgan's uptight, rigid persona. Heidi was a sunny, open character who was so easy to like. Overall, the book was very sweet, cozy and enjoyable!

The Reluctant Roommate is the right mix of new friendship and romance. Cheyenne Blue brings fun, spice, and honest communication to their latest release. I now have a desire to revisit Denver and experience it through Heidi’s eyes as they had so much fun there. Though there is a bar I’ll avoid entirely. 😆If you’re looking for a sweet and spicy opposites attract romance, I highly recommend this one.

Easy plot to follow with great pace. A pleasant contemporary romance read that can be done in a day. I enjoyed how the main characters had different upbringings in terms of culture and family and how the author used this to demonstrate the conflicts in their resulting personalities. Although there aren’t a lot of characters in the book it does not manage to be boring and is filled with cute scenes full of fuzziness not to mention spice. Overall great story telling. This is my review of an advanced copy received from the author.

A beautiful Australian woman helps to calm down an uptight woman living in Denver. Any unattached woman would love Heidi to be their roommate. I liked the book, yeah Morgan's character wasn't as well loved as Heidi's but Cheyenne basically writes it in the story why she is the way she is. Heidi is the type of lady everyone loves and her character helped to soften Morgan which made for a good story and a happy ending.

What a fun story about opposites living together! Heidi and Morgan could not be any more different in their personalities. What follows is how they learn to live together, learn about each other and eventually love each other. Cheyenne has written another wonderful story that is truly worth reading. 4.25. Enjoyable read. A little bit insta-love but the characters have chemistry from 1st meeting and they live together so it makes sense that their relationship would move fast.
Although some tough subjects are covered in the book, it's still a fairly light read. Well-written, I loved the conversational style. Recommended.

Ho Hum…The Reluctant Reviewer
I don’t like leaving negative reviews. This book was well-written but I struggled to finish it and ultimately wish I hadn’t kept reading. It was boring for me. And I loved Heidi but I couldn’t connect with Morgan’s character, she wasn’t very likable for the majority of the book. Overall it felt very “ho hum.”

Wow Cheyenne Blue doesn't disappoint this is another phenomenal story, its written with depth of each character making you feel like you know them personally, the twists in this story were exceptionally written with love ,laughter and a whole lot of swooning a must-read congratulations
