Nicole Jacquelyn started writing before she started elementary school, however she didn’t start publishing her stories until her senior year in college. Today, she’s the author of the best selling Aces Series, Hawthornes Series, Fostering Love Series and Bouchers Series. She loves to read, drinks too much coffee, and lives in Oregon with the coolest children in the entire world and an English Bulldog named Blue.
Love this author. Love this world. Love these characters. Loved this installment.
I really enjoyed the forced proximity setup here and the way that unfolded. I also really loved the meshed family dynamic and the bonds that were formed amongst the kids. I enjoyed every second.
Let me preface this by saying I have no problems with the author choosing a character with they/them pronouns. However, I must say that grammatically, it is extremely jarring and kept taking me out of the flow of the book because it gives the feeling that the book is littered with grammatical mistakes. I think in spoken word the they/them isn’t used as frequently as when someone needs to be described on page so it works in that medium but is extremely confusing in the written medium. It took me much longer to read a page given I sometimes couldn’t tell if she was describing Jesse or a collective of other people who were also in the scene. Other than that there’s nothing particularly special about the book but I haven’t finished it yet so will reserve judgement.
Update: 40% in and it’s like watching paint dry. I think I have to accept this author isn’t going to write better and stop reading her in the hope that the next one will be a banger. She takes herself a bit too seriously when describing mundane things. Every book of hers is verbose and pretentious because she maybe describing someone eat with a spoon but tries to make it deeper than it is. So so much telling and so little showing. She wants to keep this aces series going but doesn’t have a plot just multiple characters so she’s been churning zero value content out. It’s mind numbingly boring and I just wish she had better beta and alpha critique partners to tell her to stop and focus on a good story and good storytelling before she publishes the next one! Potentially a DNF, definitely put me to sleep
Update: Finally finished it, but took me nearly a week to do so because it was boring. I stand by everything I said apart from the fact that the last 10-15% got better. What happened to the kids and how Curtis handled everything was nice but honestly Teddy was a bit underwhelming even in that crisis. Guilt apart, if she really felt Dylan was hers like she claimed, she would have come seen him and she would have atleast sent word that Jesse was awake. Overall 2.5 stars mainly for Curtis. His and Draco’s relationship was the highlight of this book
This one felt a little different from the recent books in “The Aces’ Sons” series. It felt like a call back to some of the earlier books (think Farrah’s or Noel/Titus) with more drama in terms of the serious family situation they find themselves in.
It was all about finding a strong family unit, a force of love and acceptance that will have your back no matter what. And how sometimes those start on shaky ground.
I struggled with Teddy toward the end of the book. Mostly because I think a little more explanation could have been given to why her first response is “run” when things get hard. I know this author can do that, because the way she slowly unraveled details in Francesca’s book was perfection. It just felt that was missing here, hence the removal of a star.
Loved, loved, loved to see representation of a nonbinary character in a book. The way that was handled was wonderful.
Who cares how it started? This works, baby. You know it does. Me, you, the kids.
Curtis Harrison is back and he is as hot as you ever could imagine him today! How could he not with his lineage? Curt has returned to his original Aces and Eights chapter after a long time as a nomad in Montana. Life has happened and moved along, and Curt has decided it is time for him to come home. However, the Aces owe a favor to an old friend… and that old friend’s daughter is a single mother named Teddy. Teddy has not had the easiest life. She is navigating life with two kids and no support. The only issue here is her youngest’s grandfather is mixed up in some shady stuff. Our old friend Grease has agreed to help Teddy, but that help comes in the form of Curt Harrison. Can these two keep their relationship platonic as they navigate living in a home and sharing three kids? Of course, Nicole Jacqueline can’t make anyone’s life easy, but she can write a hot hero! This book gives off major early Craving vibes, so Jacquelyn fans get ready!
How come Nicole always delivers a great story while keeping the whole Aces and Eights universe going? If there is one thing for sure about her writing is that 1. I will always cry no matter what while reading and 2. All the fmc's are super baddies.
As soon as I saw Curtis was finally getting his story, I couldn’t wait to dive back into the Aces world.
The Aces MC and Aces’ Sons series will always be some of my favourite MC books. Coming back to this world feels like coming home, and getting to spend more time with these characters is one of my favourite parts of every new release.
Curtis and Theodora’s story had me hooked from the beginning. I loved their chemistry, the family moments, and the emotional side of the story. Nicole Jacquelyn has always been great at creating characters that feel like real people, and that’s exactly why I keep coming back to this series.
My only wish is that the books were longer. I miss the length and depth of the earlier Aces books because I always want more time with these characters. Even so, I was completely invested and finished this in one sitting.
I just can't describe how very much that I loved this latest book in the Aces series. Nicole Jacqueline continues to amaze me with her awesome storytelling. I've been hooked on this series since the beginning because of her writing and how she brings the characters to life for me. In this one it was Curtis, a club legacy, and Teddy, a total new comer .... and they were just perfect together. Curt was a total knight wearing a leather cut. He and Teddy and those kids fell for each other right away.
Nicole Jacqueline's writing is amazing. Each new book in the series always feels like coming home after a long time away. I love the feeling of family atmosphere that she brings, as well. As always, I'm left wanting more and hoping the next book comes my way soon.
I went into this not really knowing what to expect. I believe there was talk of other plans for Curtis book. I was excited for that and have been one of those readers not patiently waiting on it. Even though I completely understood why. Then when I seen that is was going be released. I was excited but a bit disappointed. I waited to start it. I kept telling myself it’s because I was in the middle of a book, I need to finish this one first. That was a lie….🫣. I always always make sure I can start a Nicole Jacquelyn new release book ASAP. It was not long before I realized. THIS was meant to be Curtis’s book. Once again you have put our emotions through the wringer. Thank You!!!!
I’m not a fan of the 3rd act breakups Nicole tends to add in these books. This book had a really quick turn around on it. The whole book was just fun and sweet. The main characters had great personalities that made them enjoyable to read about. Sometimes this author has a habit of making main characters that have really irritating personalities or bratty behavior that I don’t wanna read. That wasn’t the case here. What a delightful quick read!
What I enjoy about the Craving series is the way Nicole Jacquelyn brings a sense of familiarity and comfort to each of her books. Craving Theodora was everything I was hoping for and more. The only reason I took so long to read it was that I had heaps going on at home. Every opportunity I got to read a few more chapters was always met with excitement and happiness that I was making this book spin out for days!
I feel like this is the end of The Aces, I hope not because I love this series. I would love to see her do a spinoff of that one guy's siblings, he had like 4 or 5 of them.
I liked Curtis and Teddy and the family they blended together to become one. I was loosely doing the math and Dragon, Brenna, Farrah, Casper, Grease and Callie have all go to be late 70s by now :(
Yeah, okay...I'm convinced Nicole Jacquelyn sprinkled crack into this series because the obsession is getting out of hand. Nicole Jacquelyn created one of the best MC worlds I've ever read, and I'm still not ready to leave it behind. Curtis, Teddy, Dyl, them, and Finn-my new little family. Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for whatever she gives us next because I NEED MORE.
DNF @15%. With this author, I can never remember past characters well enough from previous books, so I always feel like I’m missing something. When one of the h’s male children is revealed to be “non-binary” I just couldn’t deal with the her/he/them language.
I really enjoyed Curt and Teddy’s story! I was excited to read Curtis’s story! Curt and his son Dylan with Teddy and her kids Jesse and Finn perfectly blended families. I was hooked from page one. I couldn’t put this book down.
After reading this, I just had to go back and read some of my favorites from this series. You are going to really enjoy this book.
