A enjoyable read

This book suffers from the thing most other dystopian book suffer from. That is having special training and or stumbling into a cash of supplies that has every thing they need.

That said, I really enjoyed this book. The author writing style kept me interested in the story line to the end. Interested enough to buy book 2.

Weird first person style, switches between main 3 characters. Pretty good actually until they are attacked by evil DHS guys in 3 MRAP’s. Luckily for them, DHS are easily defeated because they’re stupid. Toward end things get crazy and less realistic. Cartoon-like bad guy “Boss” was really stupid.

Interesting

Not the best novel but interesting enough that I wanted to know what happened next. The characters are not super human or military, just people in extraordinary circumstances.

Very Excited about this Series!!

I could not put this book down. I just recently started reading apocalyptic books. I have learned so much just from reading them. I can understand WHY there are PREPPERS in our world. We are putting our complete trust in all of our government's. Scary.....This book has so many up and downs, twists and turns. It is one of the best I have ever read. Be prepared, it will lead you on an incredible journey, into how people will react after a catastrophic event in America. Events that could one day happen around the world. There are PSYCHOS in this book, some who, along with no law whatsoever; take it upon themselves to live out their whacked out minds in the face of tragedy, to do what they wanted to do. Regardless of human anything. Very Interesting book series that I will enjoy to continue to read.
Mike Whitworth is Awesome!!!! Please continue your great books. I love them all

Total crap

The main character is a guy, that while on a business trip, gets stranded in the American southwest due to an EMP. He is very concerned with getting home to his wife and child until he meets a woman who he can't stop thinking about....really? She has some Native American ancestry (we know this because it's described as- Indian stuff- I'm serious) and her ancestry gifts her with psychic abilities. She can see into the future and can read people's auras. The main character then justifies the possibility of plural marriage with the two women. Mind you the wife is hundreds of miles away and he plans on journeying home with new psychic wife in tow. Oh, and with the morbidly obese orphan videogame champ he and his new wife have adopted naked Yeti. Don't waist your time and two bucks. I live SHTF and Post-apocalyptic books as much as the next chic but come on, we can do better than this.

What an incredible story!

I almost didn't get this book due to some of the bad reviews, but in so glad I did! This is a well written story about real people with real lives and real problems. There are some very unexpected twists and turns. In the end I fell in love with the characters and I can't wait to read the next book.

I felt like the writing style was juvenile. I love post apocalyptic stories, but really hated the 2nd wife concept introduced here as well as the very basic writing style used throughout: "He is one smart fellow." "I have watched you. You are a brave man." "I am sorry to hear that." The entire novel is written with very short sentences like that.

This is a fantastic book

I truly enjoyed every minute spent reading this great story. The topic is a favourite of mine so I love finding an author new to me. Here's hoping the sequel is out soon.

Some of the dialogue was not terribly smooth and the need to choose between two women was a bit forced, but over all I rather enjoyed this. Most of the characters were fairly likable, especially Yeti. I was interested enough in the story to continue the series.

First in a series. Interesting take on the apocalypse. Wayne has a too many skills for an unprepared salesman. I will read the second book.

Not that good

I chose 3stars because I lost interest fast. It started out ok but quickly became a bad mad max ripoff.

EMP 1500

Another take on the end of the world with believable good but flawed characters. Not as equal as I believe it could be.

Ok story

This story is OK. A bit cookie cutter with a few unbelievable bit (imediate adultery and super genius kids)But, overall it was OK.
