The Shadow
Shattered by the death of his daughter, Victor plans on revenge at all cost. He quits the only job that can help him find the man who caused the death of their daughter. Roger, Victor’s boss, is not happy and also wants Victor back to work at all cost. Being that Victor is their best bomb sniffer, Roger desperately needs him if he’s to succeed in finding the terrorist, the Shadow, who threatens to destroy their organization. Victor still has nightmares of his daughter's death. Even now, all these months later, he still hasn't cried; he can't. It is like he is frozen in time, with only two things keeping him going: his wife and revenge. He is determined to find the people responsible for the death of his beloved Sarah and make them pay...no matter the cost.
Rodger was Victor's boss and, at one point, his friend. When Victor quits, Rodger is beside himself; he needs Victor to stop a terrorist. But how far will he go to get his man? And what is he hiding?
The Shadow is the story of two men's fight for justice-and the different meaning that word has for each of them. Mantissa Creed uses few words but makes a large impact. You feel the story; the writing and the characters stay with you even after you finish reading.
The story and characters are brought to life very quickly with her incredible talent, and you see everything clearly while you read. You feel like a part of the story, and the characters feel very real in the first few pages.
Creed writes with a passion you can see on every page. She is a writer that will have a long and successful career and you will want to keep an eye on her. If she can do this with a short story, imagine what she will do with a full-length book!
