Having two women wanting you at the same time … isn’t that every man’s fantasy? Wrong. It’s a nightmare, at least for Darin Thorne. The doctors had assured him his wife was going to die, sooner or later, so he’d moved on with someone else. Then he’d gotten the last call he’d expected to ever get—his wife was back from the dead. She’s coming home from the hospital and needs a place to stay. Darin is forced to invite her to come home with him. Two women living under the same roof, one his wife, the other his fiancé. Could this ever work? Darin feels a storm brewing in his life. He can’t possibly live like this much longer. The question still stands … which woman will he choose?

I am a pretty harsh reviewer sometimes. This book wasn't meant to be some profound, earth shattering, epic love story(and it's not). It's a story meant to "shock" and have drama(which it has in abundance). You can read the blurb to find out pretty much all you need to know about the story. The writing is ok, the drama is whew... everywhere. I have to say, I didn't like Darin. I'm just putting that out there. I found him to be a weak "hero" for sure.
This review is really more of a social commentary, but it got me thinking about how we view marriage as a society and my conclusion is...You have got to be kidding me! Is it just me? I mean really. What is the world coming to when they think of marriage. Isn't there somewhere in the marriage vows that says "in sickness and health" and "till death do us part"? All that's in the vows right?
I mean Liv didn't die... so this whole entire book would have been avoided if Darin meant his marriage vows. Liv was "sick"- so he should have been by her side. That is what a husband does for his wife. Cause that's what Liv is- his WIFE. Not some girlfriend, not a random hook up- no she IS his WIFE. What kind of man leaves his wife while she is in a coma? I don't care how old you are, how long you have been married. That is some straight up bullshit. I would never want to marry a man who would leave me because I'm in a coma.
And before you haters start,I get it, it's a raw deal for him too. But saying he deserves to be happy and leave his wife is like saying it's ok for every spouse who has to take care of their spouse has the right to leave because something bad happened. You would have to apply that logic to people who get dementia, people who get ALS or cancer, etc. Would you expect your parents and children to abandon you in this situation? No- so why then would it be ok for a spouse to?
Our view of marriage has got to change. It's not some arbitrary piece of paper. It has to mean something.
I say this because I grew up watching my mother and father absolutely adore each other. My dad had a heart attack when I was 12. The lack of oxygen to his brain caused his personality to change a bit- he became short tempered and yelled all the time. He wasn't the always "happy person" my mom married. But guess what- my mom didn't leave him. My mom didn't use that as an excuse. My mom adapted, and looked at the big picture. My dad was still here with us. They still loved each other, and they showed that love each and every day.
My dad continued to have health problems throughout the years, including cancer, 2 triple bypasses and a defibrillator but my mother stood by him and loved him through it all. They were married for 36 years before my dad passed away last year. My mother is heartbroken, and will be for the rest of her life. It's painful to watch my mother so sad, but at the same time there is something beautiful about her suffering. She has so much pain, only because they had so much love. My mom says no matter how much she hurts now, she would do it all over again because the pain is worth the love.
People get dealt a raw deal all the time. That is life. But, we need to find a way back to living a life with integrity. When you make a promise, you keep it. For better or for worse, in sickness and in health and till death do you part.
Cover: Fitting Rating: R Thumbs Up: 3.5 Overall: Okay Characters: Well Done Plot: Girl wakes from comma to find husband has moved on Page Turner: Yes Series Cont.? Yes Recommend: Yes Book Boyfriend: Darin
SUMMARY (50 words or less) I met this author at a signing and talked to her about her books and became intrigued. The premise is super interesting and overall I really enjoyed how the question of the plot was answered.
What the synopsis doesn’t tell you is that Darin’s wife, Livvy is a miracle. I read the synopsis and thought oooohh, this looks like it could be really intriguing. Unfortunately I only managed about 30% before I put the book down. I was really sad at this as it really did have the potential to be something good. I like a good angsty read and I was excited at the fact that I was going to get a good push and pull read, expecting my emotions to be torn from one side to the other frequently. I always enjoy a good love triangle.
So where did it go wrong for me? First off I have to state that the following might contain spoilers, I don’t really know how to explain without doing so. I work in the medical profession so when I read a book that contains medical things I sit up and take note. Normally I can sweep aside the little things that are inaccurate as I understand that authors write fiction. But here I just couldn’t do that. Nobody wakes from a seven year coma, one that involved little brain function, being absolutely fine. Miracle indeed. And then to be “strolling” down the corridor and leaving the hospital? No, I couldn’t get my head around those things. It was far-fetched to say the least. I think when an author writes these kinds of stories there needs to be a believable start. But I do understand why the author took the seven year coma line.
I really liked the fact that there were three main pov’s; after all it is all their stories. That worked for me, normally I’m a dual pov lover but some stories can carry the multiple no problems and this was one of them. It was clearly set out in chapters so easy to follow. I struggled a bit with the characters too. Not so much Livvy but most definitely Violet and Darin. I know I probably didn’t really get into them having stopped at 30% but Violet had my hackles up instantly, I understood her pov but at the same time her initial lack of compassion for the situation grated on me. Whilst she feels threatened, it isn’t Livvy’s fault. I couldn’t work Darin out at all, he seemed to have a little bit of a yo-yo personality that I couldn’t read. So my hook for the characters was weak at best.
I’m not happy that this was a DNF so early on; I may try to come back to it and start again, who knows? I rather enjoyed the writing style, having never read anything of Sara’s so I may hop off and check out some of her other work.
I don't like to give 1 stars, but what??? The idea of this story is really good. That paired with the cover had me practically ripping this book open to get started. Unfortunately, that is where the excitement ends. I nearly dnf this book early on (20-30%). The only thing that kept me going is that the book was short and I hate not finishing things. The writing is not bad, but there was definitely issues forming connections with the characters. You would think this would be angsty and emotional, but the characters were so cold and superficial it was hard to feel anything short of annoyance.
"I had moved on, but the poor girl hadn't had a chance to." <------ Even if you were in love with someone else who would say this about their wife who just came out of a coma after 7 years.. A person you thought was the love of your life and lost? The book was full of statements and thoughts similar to this. No compassion or love. I just didn't understand anyone's reactions to one another or the situation.
After we get through all that we are given an off the wall ending that seemed to be thrown in for shock value. It felt like an after thought and flet rushed, lacking the same emotion as the rest of the book. My very fav thing is a shocking ending. I don't care if it's happily or unhappily ever after, but it has to be in line with the book. This wasn't one of those.
I was all set to give this book 4 stars or more for creativity, intriguing and gut wrenching storyline...and it had been sitting on my wishlist, so I was so excited when it went on sale. Now I'm just shaking my head and wondering what happened...seriously WHY that epilogue? I had to suspend belief when Liv wakes up (although that has happened before in real life) and then I had to stomach the cruel ugliness that was Vi and finally wonder why Liv even really needed to be in the situation she was when it was obvious Darin had enough money to put her up in her own apartment and hire help for her in the first place (oh but then there would not have been all that conflict and reason for the story). I kept on reading until the bitter end and I do say "bitter" because wow, really? I always wonder why authors sometimes choose to write an epilogue that will anger their readers or turn something that was already tragic enough just way over the top depressing. So this is why I am left frustrated and disappointed after spending a half of a day reading this one.
*** 3 *** "two wrongs sometimes make a right but the pain of it all" stars
i haven't read a book that made me so mad in a long time i hated the ending why would you bring them back together to end it this way it pissed me off so much because it was totally unexpected
4-4.5 stars. For a shorter length novel, this one packs a punch of angst and tension. After reading the blurb, I just knew I had to read this. Without knowing anything else, I was already advocating for Darin's wife before I started the book. This story is told from the 3 POVs of the main characters and it's obvious right from the beginning who to root for.
Livvy, awake after being in a coma for more than several years, has the unfortunate circumstance of discovering that her life is no longer the way it used to be. Not only is she so many years older, but she doesn't have any friends or family, home, and definitely no husband, at least not beyond a legality. Although she was asleep for all that time, I honestly can't imagine the shock and adjustment that she has to deal with, to wake up one day and to know that life went on without her as if she were a part of the past that is now long forgotten. She doesn't belong anywhere or to anyone. Even so, Livvy is quickly adaptable and understanding, she's fortunate to have a second chance at life but she's not quite so sure she wants it now that Darin isn't a part of it anymore because in her last memory, they were in love and happily married. She's definitely the sort of woman who is gracious and loving, but she won't tolerate anyone stepping all over her.
Violet, the woman who Darin is living with and sharing a life makes it clear that she is Darin's actual woman. She comes off as the other woman because if she weren't in the picture, Darin would be with Livvy, or wouldn't he? He's only married to Livvy in name, but she has his actual heart. It's important that she makes her claim obvious. She genuinely loves Darin and has been patiently waiting for Livvy to kick the bucket so she and Darin can make their marriage official. Since that plan was derailed, considering that Livvy is now very alive and well, the next logical thing to do is get the divorce rolling. Violet is a go-getter, she doesn't sit around idly and let things happen passively and she always has a plan. She is so benevolently allowing Livvy to live under her roof when she should be busy preparing for her wedding.
Darin, who thought his wife would never wake up, has moved on and is engaged to Violet, his girlfriend for the past 4 years. He was only married to Livvy for about 1 year and those memories have long since been put away in a place that was never meant to be resurrected. Although he was crushed and heartbroken over Livvy, he has found normalcy in his life now with Violet, whom he is happy with. But being a dutiful husband, he feels responsible for Livvy until she can get back on her feet by herself. He proposes the absolutely horrid idea of having Livvy move in with he and Violet. I must say, there were several times where I genuinely empathized with Darin, but there were an equal amount of times where I wanted to punch him in the throat to permanently impair his vocal cords for the things he would do and say with such insensitivity, even though he was trying to be sympathetic. Truthfully, Darin was so wounded and had so much buried inside, that he simply functioned on autopilot and wanted to continue with his original plans rather than risk the enormity of calamitous emotions resurfacing because they were his destruction before and he barely survived. He simply couldn't handle any deviation from his plans because the last time he did, his wife died. His motto was that he was not revisiting the past and was keeping his promises. Otherwise, it was too stressful and painful for him to actually think and decide what he really wanted.
There are so many parts that will cause a riot of sentiments because the situation is so unusual and absurd and each person is hurting in some way. I couldn't stop reading because everyone had no choice but to be selfish and to fight for what/who they wanted and it became a complete mess. I wanted to cringe every time Darin tried to convince himself that he was doing the right thing and wound up wounding the woman he really loves. Thank goodness for Darin's brother Shane coming to visit and providing some common sense and wake up call. The choice was really up to Darin and he didn't handle the situation well even though he was trying to keep his sanity intact and self-preserve his feelings. I genuinely wish this book had been longer because there were parts that could have been explored more, yet the length of this was still appropriate because of the mounting anxiety and wanting to relieve it as soon as possible - some reactions just felt so visceral. As for the epilogue, I'm still trying to process that one - honestly, I wasn't a fan of that part at all because I'm not sure how that added to the story although I get why it was written that way. Otherwise, this is definitely a book that can be read in one sitting and won't be put down until it's finished.
I did not like the ending of this story ! I feel like I just wasted my time . why give them a happy ending to have it destroyed in the end ????!! If that was the ending then why have them get back together for no reason ? That was the stupidest ending ever really ?! I mean really ? I liked the book don't get me wrong but the ending just killed the whole book for me . Author shouldn't have put a epilogue it's almost embarrassing sorry but I just needed to say that . Don't buy this book you'll just be disappointed .
When I first read the blurb to this book I told myself “heck no.” I love a good triangle, but this would be too much for me with him being engaged to somebody else while waiting for his wife to die. How cruel is that?? But then I started seeing reviews popping up that made me rethink my preconceived notion, and when the words “the ending” were popping out in every review, I knew I had to read it. I’m glad I did. As much as the entire storyline was a clusterf*ck, I couldn’t stop myself from getting engrossed into the story. Anytime that an author can make me feel while reading, I know the writing has done its job. From the get go, I was feeling…and it wasn’t anything sweet and loving.
Darin’s wife has been in a coma for 7 years. He moved on from her when he finally accepted that she wasn’t going to wake up and the thought of her never coming back was making him bitter, angry, and depressed. He stopped visiting her altogether and for the past 4 years he has been shacked up with Violet. Shacked up is one thing, but he’s engaged to Violet! They are just waiting for the moment his wife dies. Violet occupies her time planning her extravagant wedding. How callous is that? I was sickened by their thoughts. Darin receives a phone call that Livvy has awakened! It’s a miracle! How the hell is he going to explain to her that while she was laying in a coma, he moved on and became engaged? This I’ve got to see…
Livvy woke up expecting to see her beloved Darin by her side. Quite the contrary…she woke up with nothing. Absolutely nothing. Darin got rid of anything that had ever been hers. She has nowhere to go and nobody to call on as she has no other family. Being the saintly guy that Darin is (insert a little bit of sarcasm) he feels bad so offers his and Violet’s home for Livvy to recuperate in until she is able to get back on her feet.
Whoa…shut the front door. Who invites a woman knowingly still in love with you into your home that your share and love with your fiancé?? This is pure torture for everybody. Could you imagine being in Livvy’s shoes? That poor girl.
Violet, on the other hand…I could care less what she felt. She only thinks of herself and I really could not stand the woman. How Darin ended up with her is beyond me. Sure she took away his pain and made him laugh again, but I think at that point anything would have been better than Violet.
Darin isn’t a complete bad guy. He’s just messed up. He knows that what he’s doing is wrong. He is constantly nervous, pacing, pulling at his hair, and barely eats anymore because he throws it right back up. It’s not easy for him, but yet I was so mad at him!!
The story is told from all 3 points of view and that keeps the story moving. There was no time for the story to ever dawdle or become stagnant. Now comes the part that everybody is ranting over…the ending. I didn’t have a problem with it because – a) I read it before I started the book so I knew what was coming, and b) the story in itself seems to be a little far fetched so the ending just added to the “I can’t believe this” plot line. It’s not a bad read, in fact I rather enjoyed it and I am difficult to please. It was a quick angsty read that packed a powerful punch in a short amount of pages.
This story is pretty Amazing.. It has left me completely speechless. My thoughts are jumbled up right now trying to process what the hell just happened. Darin, and Livvy's story is heart wrenching. Violet even though I did not like her from the very beginning I sympathized with her. I mean really put yourself in their shoes what would you do?
The huge curve ball at the end had me completely devastated. I so did not see that coming. Wow what a shocker. Please tell me there will be more!
WTF?!?!? Can't believe I wasted 2 hours on that. And the ending...really? A little too much lie Jodi Picoult (without a well-written storyline) for me.
IF you want to laugh in an mental way about how things are wrapped up in a romantic-cheating-second chnces novel, you've got to read this. but im liking that he died. Haleluyahhh! 1 stars for the absurdly way of the husband to handled the "heavy" burden of how he love his wife but then convinced that she might die in a coma and thus making him not seeing her anymore in the hospital bcoz it's too hurtful so he engaging w/new women whom he make a fiancee and then the wife is alive and well,... i just glad about the ending. God is fair, or at least this author has very rare sense of humor. yess! just died you SOB. fufufufu....
okay, this is a side efect from reading this "Weird" novel. i need ... aspirin do please read it.
this was a 3 star, likable and okay book until i read the ending. it just made me so sad and angry. WARNING : if you are looking for a HEA this book is not for you, unfortunately. This is also a standalone.
As i love HEA and i thrive for them, this book was bummer, hence making it a 2 star review. Overall there was a lot of drama and indecisiveness. I felt sad for all characters included in this book.
This is my first Sara V. Zook book. I really enjoyed it and I normally hate cheater type books (or was he not a cheater b/c his wife was in a coma for 7 years). I def. don't know what I would do in this type of situation but I kinda hated that Darin was flaunting his relationship with Violet in Livvy's face. Yes, it was seven years that she was in coma but for the love of God, she was your wife. Didn't like Violet from the beginning. I won't say anything about the end, but that EPILOGUE!! I'd love to read a 2nd book (a continuation from the epilogue) if the author decides to write one.
Like seriously, WTF did I just read? I'm so unsure of this story. I know it's not my story to tell, and I never rate this low unless a bunch of grammatical errors are present. I just can't help this rating, it feels right. I'm just totally not sure, and can't believe I wasted my time with this story. It was ok, then it sucked, then it was ok again, then it REALLY sucked... That's all I can say. Sorry for the 3 star rating, but I just can't rate it any higher.
After reading the blurb I just knew this book was going to be a good read... and I was right. The pull is told from three P.O.V so we get to know what each character is thinking and feeling.
The Pull is book 1 and there is now a second book out called The Push which is the continuation of The Pull..
In my personal opinion The Pull should of been a standalone, with a different ending!!! if this book had finished differently (no spoiler) I think it would of been one of the best books I have ever read..
The Pull is Livy's story, she was in a car accident that landed her in a coma for 7years, he husband Darin is told by doctors that if she ever comes out of it that she may have very severe brain damage, or she may never come out of it alive.
Darin goes through many years or heartache and is living in limbo waiting and waiting for her to wake up, but he wont abandon Livy so he pays for her to live in a special care unit and have the best professionals looking after her.
After many years he stops going to visit Livy as it gets to hard to keep seeing her in the state she is.
Eventually he meets Violet, he starts using her as a distraction to forgets about the pain of losing the love of his life. They start to get closer and they end up getting engaged, with plans to marry when Livy dies... (I know how awful right).
So basically their waiting for her to die so they can marry and move on.
Until one day Darin gets a phone call from the Unit saying his wife is awake !!! not only awake but is perfectly fine...
Livy wakes up from the coma and thinks she's just been asleep for the night, and not in a coma for 7years.
she also thinks she is still married and in a loving relationship with Darin..
(could you imagine that happening to you?? what the hell would you do??)
Livy has nothing and no one, she has no family and the house her and Darin shared was sold years ago along with all her possessions.
The only option is for Darin to allow Livy to stay with him and Violet for a while until she can get back on her feet....(Awkward!!!)
I hated Violet from the very moment we meet her, she just isn't right for Darin. He thinks he is in love with her but I think he is just so used to having her around and using her as a distraction for the hurt of losing Livy and he is mistaking it for love..
So when Livy the love of his life ,his soul mate who he thought he would never see again is living and breathing and very much still in love with him ,, he has to decide what he is going to do .. stick with Violet and marry someone he isn't even sure he loves or get back with his one true soul mate... its decision time, he must decide soon or he will risk losing them both..
This book was really emotional, I felt so sorry for Livy,, can you imagine seeing the man you love with someone else ??
I wanted to dislike Darin so much but I just couldn't.. you cant hate him for the position he has been put in, after what he has gone through .. I ended up loving him and was rooting for Livy and Darin all the way....
An emotional rollercoaster, I devoured it in one sitting...
**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Hands down this book gets 5 glorious stars from me. If I could give more, I definitely would give it more!
The moment I read the synopsis of this book, I was intrigued, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I found this book to be unique as I haven't seen nor read one that is about one guy and two girls.
Since the first page I already knew I didn't like Violet, she acted like a real stinker with Darin, but Darin thought that she was the one who saved him after the turmoil he lived when his wife was in a vegitative state and was given no hopes of her ever waking up. He basically gave up and with good reason. Violet came along after a few years of him mourning the loss that he thought he had with his wife and that's when he pretty much got himself back together.
This book really made my heart hurt because I could feel how Darin was torn between two women. He thought he didn't love his wife anymore and that it was time for him to move on with his fiance, but something just wasn't right. He couldn't decide if he still loved his wife the same way he did during their happy times or if he was more in love with Violet. He felt like he couldn't go back on his word in marrying Violet and she just kept niggling him about getting divorced from Livvy. Granted, Violet was in love with Darin but she couldn't be the deciding factor on his feelings, it had to be him who chose who his heart wanted.
I loved Livvy, you could just tell that she still loved her husband regardless of the years she missed with him. She woke up feeling like nothing ever changed, her love for him was just as strong as when they first started dating. Feelings were hurt all three ways and it was pretty devastating to have to read about this man being torn between two women that he loved. It took his brother to come down and talk some sense into him and choose wisely.
The ending is a complete shocker to me and I didn't expect it. This will really have your head spinning going "WAIT, WTH!!" I was so not expecting it to end this way and I hope, hope that Ms. Zook will bring us another book and make us believe it was all a dream!! This ending is just unacceptable to me, there is no way it is going to stay this way.
I just don't have enough kind words to say about this book, other than it was fantastic, heart wrenching, tore your limbs apart, made you want to scream at something and totally made you fall in love with the characters in the book!
Darin Thorne’s wife, Livvy, has been in a coma for seven years. Her doctors have assured him that she won’t be waking. He has moved on with Violet. And they’re just waiting for the day that they can get married. One day, while Darin is on his way to work, and he gets a phone call from the hospital. Livvy was talking.
This book sounds like it’s one insane pickle to be in. How do you manage life when you lose the one you love? You mourn for them; you grieve their loss. And though their shell is there, the essence of who they are has long since slipped away. At first, you’re pulled to feel bad for Darin. You’re sympathetic to the upheaval his life has taken. You feel sympathetic to Violet, because now she’s in limbo. Does she have a fiancée or is he going to be with his wife, now that she’s awake. And you especially feel for Livvy. To wake up and suddenly realize that seven years of your life is gone. Everyone has moved on around you and your time has stopped. But all that sympathy dries up really fast. At least it did for me. Honestly, I didn’t like Darin. I thought he was a weak character. I understand that the author is trying to convey that it isn’t easy and it’s full of grey and cannot be black and white. But he genuinely wasn’t that sympathetic a character for me. And don’t get me started on Violet. After around 4% in, I couldn’t stand her. I liked Livvy, and I really liked Shane and Tim, the rest, meh. Just simply meh. A whole lot of the time, I spent saying to the kindle “Oh H#%L naw!” And the ending. I’m going to assume that there’s a second book coming. It felt incomplete to me.
Ms. Zook tackled a very unusual subject. I don’t know how I’d be if placed in that situation, honestly, so I wouldn’t say that the characters weren’t genuine in their responses, only that it was so far removed from my own that I find it hard to feel that it was believable. Would I recommend this book? I’m not sure. It would greatly depend on if there was a second and how that one turned out. So I’d leave this on the fence. As far as heat goes, it’s all fade to black, so it’s ok for any mature person.
Sara says she's not a romance writer? I disagree, holy wow! I wish I could read this book again, for the first time just to feel all over again. I wouldn't wish Darin's dilemma on anyone! Could you imagine, having to choose between your wife (who you thought was going to die) and your fiance (who you've been with for years), I know that would be horrible. There's a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs in this book. I laughed. I rolled my eyes, a lot. I felt the way Livvy felt, Sara did an amazing job pulling me into the story. I wanted to hug Livvy so many times, and just reach in and smack the heck outta Violet and Darin. I was sucked in on page one and I couldn't read fast enough, I needed to know what was happening. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect things to turn out the way they did. Holy freaking crap, Sara is an evil, crazy lady! If you think you have this story figured out YOU ARE WRONG! I mean it, there is no way in hell you can prepare yourself for what happens. I loved every single word. This book is freaking fantastic! I can't wait to read more from Sara. And let me say this again, wow, I was left speechless! Great job Sara! I wish I could give you more than 5 stars!!
I could not put this book down!!! When i first read what it was about i was skeptical about it but in all honesty it turned out a hell of a lot better than i thought it was going to be. It was emotional and nerve wrecking at the same time.
What would you do if after 7 years of being in a coma your wife/husband suddenly woke up? What would you do if you were advised by multiple doctors that they would never ever wake up? You would move on after some time right? That is exactly what Darin did. Him and Vi have been together for 4 years now when Darin gets the phone call saying his wife (Livvy) woke up. Being a good husband and man that he is he does all that he can to help his wife get back on her feet. which includes inviting her into his home with his fiance.
Will he keep his vow's with is wife or will he separate from her to Marry Vi?
You feel for Darin and what he going through every step of the way. the females in this book at first I understood where Vi was coming from with jealousy and the way she reacted to things but at the same time she just rubbed me the wrong way but so did Livvy at times...
The ending... OMG I fell off my couch and cried like i was with Livvy... how can u end a book like that? I hope their is more to this story.
Wow...not sure how to express what I am feeling at this moment! Such an emotional read that had me glued to the pages dying to see where this story would go,...AND never imagined it would take me where it did!!! Holy smokes...did not see that coming, and now I'm dying to see what happens in the next book!
Darin has been through so much...meeting and falling in love with his soul mate only to lose her in a tragic accident that left her in a coma in which doctors assured she would never wake from. Then seven years later, when he has finally moved on and hopes to remarry, Livy wakes up with no recollection that seven years has past and everything she had prior to the accident is gone! Darin, being the only thing and being left in her life, takes her home to live with he and his fiancée while they try to get her back on her feet. Talk about a messy situation!!!
Wow, Wow, Wow! This book was amazing! This is my first time reading Sara V Zook and I am suitably impressed. Sara V Zook took a horribly tough situation and made it real. It was well written, with a great flow. Not once did I have to flip back a page and think “how the hell did we jump here?” This book held my attention so much so that himself came home and offered me coffee twice and I apparently didn’t even notice. I can’t encourage you enough to read this book. Trust you will be missing out on something that will blow your mind. I couldn’t settle down to another book last night because of the way this book stuck with me.
I bought this new release after being intrigued with the synopsis. It was a short story, and it was over very quickly.
Darin did the right thing looking after his wife Livvy after she came back, but he was a weak person. He needed to be more assertive in life.
Violet? Well, I loved to hate her.
Livvy? I think anyone who reads this story will most definitely be on her side. She's the one that had my sympathy from the word go. How could she not? None of what she has gone through is her fault.
And the ending? OMG!
The story was unique, and while I enjoyed the book as a whole, I didn't love it.
This book had potential to be a really really good book. And not that is was bad but WTF. Darrin has been told that his wife who is in a coma will probably die. Well after seven years she is alive and well. Violet is Darrin's current girl friend, who he is engaged to. With no where to go he brings Livvy, his wife to live with him and Violet. The title is a good title because Darrin is definitely pulled between his feelings for Violet and Livvy. But the ending was terrible, did not expect that and it just ended no epilogue. I was not happy.
It is well written, the author really has tallent. Just not my cup of coffee, I don't like the story, and particularly the characterization -the bitchy girlfriend, the weak husband who doesn't have pesonality at all, and the wife who is so annoying and naive because still holding a hope that the husband will be hers again-
Ok..I absolutely LOVED this book and read it in a few hours!! I couldn't put it down!!! It was so good!! What a traumatic experience that Livvy and Darin went through. I will not give anything away, this is a must read book. I am planning to buy the next book as well. I can't wait to read more!!!
