~*~ A full length, stand-alone novel with a HEA ending ~*~
It wasn't enough that Kiegan Hunt had everything - ridiculously good looks, an enormous bank account balance and a name more famous in America than the Kennedys - he also had to make my teenage years a living hell.
Years later, broke and estranged from the Hunt family, the last thing I expected to see was Kiegan - still just as sinfully sexy as ever - standing on my doorstep, offering me a job.
I've always been a good girl. Can I really handle working for a bad boy who makes my blood boil every time I look at him?
Just the thought of having to obey his every command makes my panties want to slip off.
He's insufferable. I know that. I know better than to do this. But he's also irresistible. That's why this is such a bad idea.
Hi! I’m Victoria Villeneuve. I’m a small town girl at heart, with dreams of living in a cabin in the country with my two dogs and my amazing boyfriend Mike. When I’m not writing you can usually find me enjoying a nice mocha in my local coffee shop, reading some of my favourite books by the lake or playing soccer with my friends.
This book just got weird. First off, we get it, their related by marriage...WHATEVER...but the constant need for the author pointing out how taboo the two being together sexually was, was over the top. I felt like the story had great potential in the beginning. This bully shows his feelings through being a massive bully (high school years). The issue that forced both of them to leave their rich lifestyles and start their own wasn't even mentioned until late in the book as "confessions" like they were something that could keep the two apart (and they weren't). I thought the first sex scene was totally hot and loved the angry build up to awesome sex. But after that, it just fell. It's like he turned a total 180 and became everything he wasn't. He wasn't even alpha...he was just a regular man. LOL. The H turned too soft, the h became annoying...the direction the story took to bring down the uncle was boring and very unrealistic. The parent's having a baby together and being a daughter....a very sick thought. The fact that these two always referred two each other (in sex too) as brother and sister just over the top trying to be taboo that it was just silly and eye rolling. I do recommend this book, this could be very promising for anyone that loves a different kind of romance. Hopefully you enjoy it more than I dd.
Lacked a large amount of emotion at the start. There was no steamy parts where you get drawn into the book.
To me as a reader I felt that the book wasn't thought out throughly.
To me it felt like it was written by a first time Author who seemed to have great lot of creativity and imagination but did not know how to execute the structure of the book. Based on my experience reading other similar books the pace was rushed at the start but came to an ending that really was very juicy
Also the start and middle of the book was boring with no real plot build up to draw you in.
Also I wood have like have more details into the behind the scenes of the deep dark secret that made the ending
But there are some positives to the book I loved the ending it really was an "underdog when out in the end story"
I love stepbrother romances. I love when the stepbrother is kind of a jerk/bully with a lot of tension, but then he changes his ways. Even though this book wanted to give the reader that assumption...it didn't. AT ALL. The heroine is bullied for years by her stepbrother. She sends an application to Harvard, the stepbrother purposely does not send it so she does not get in. She immediately moves out of the house and moves to NYC. She is struggling financially. Rich stepbrother offers her a job and she just says "ok". There is no sexual tension at all. The heroine says her stepbrother is hot, but it all feels awkward and very forced. I could not continue reading. There is probably more to the story, but I did not care. It all felt forced and dumb.
Same shitty rinse and repeat stuff as stepbrother: impossible love.
The heroine is pathetic. The stepbrother is a complete tool. The dialogue is choppy and makes no sense at times. There a massive amount of info dumping about shit nobody should care about and very little actual interaction between the MCs which means no chemistry. The actual sex was boring and rushed and I just don't care anymore.

Keigen has changed he is still arrogant, still a Greek god and still teases her but it is different , to Tina's dismay time has not lessened the feelings of attraction she has for her stepbrother. Traveling with Keigen , working for him these two get closer until it all comes to a full out boiling point an argument ensues and Keigen suddenly is kissing her and a whole lot more. Keigen and Tina get closer, but their is still the elephant in the room, why did Tina leave all those years ago and when she comes clean about the reason, Keigen is determine to help her get her revenge. I could continue on but the story really picks up from this point and the plot line thickens, and the relationship grows. This book was fast paced read, with agreat ending !
Step brother romance no cheating he's an asshole at first, pov from h only. He. Exiles her boss. She is a bit overweight and the whole book she talks about the food she is eating and restaurants. It was a bit much with the food. It brought her weight into the relationship more than it needed to be as that was not really relevant later in the story. In the beginning it was though, because he teases her.
In some ways I liked the plot but I also felt it all unnatural. The flow of the story didn't feel natural to me and I was left with questions, for example on why Kiegan was so mean to Tina as younger; his reasoning just seemed a little vague to me.
When Tina was fourteen, her mum came home one day and announced that they were going to have dinner with the man she is to be marrying soon. Having been raised singlehandedly by her mum, she was suddenly thrown into the life of the affluent whose lineage dated way back to 1700s. As much as she felt awkward and a misfit, she did appreciate being able to go to schools she could only dream of and studying was what she did best in or so she thought.
On her first day in school, she saw a guy whom she thought was the most gorgeous guy she's ever laid eyes on and she felt an instant attraction. However in the next instance, she got deeply hurt when he ridiculed her in front of others. It turned out later that the gorgeous guy was her step-brother Kiegan and he never stopped his bullying ever since. When Tina was seventeen right after graduating from high school, she left home without a word and had been on her own since. Having no contact with anyone in the family, she had a shock when she saw Kiegan on a television ad promoting his reality show. And a greater shock when he came knocking on her door in Seattle. He made Tina an irresistible offer and that was to be his assistant.
Having read a few stepbrother themed books by now, the plot was somewhat similar in the sense of bullying from stepbrother and being thrown into the lives of rich and famous. However, there was a good twist in this story and it also featured a more grown up Tina and Kiegan which I appreciate reading. After Tina left home, Kiegan left too and had done very well in his ventures. It showed a more mature side of Kiegan although he seemed like a ladies man. I felt that Tina's departure left an impact on him and made him wonder if he was the very reason for her leaving.
The relationship between Kiegan and Tina definitely improved when Tina started working for Kiegan. Tina saw a side of Kiegan that she had never seen before and when Kiegan did his bullying, Tina showed that she was no longer a pushover and that happened on her 20th birthday. Kiegan pulled a stunt which resulted in her being so furious she exploded. And it was then that Kiegan revealed his attraction and things took on a different turn which really kept me interested.
"Even though you don't think you're brave, I know there's something there, something that took courage, and I want to get to know the woman with the heart of a lion that she doesn't know she has". This phrase just had me swooning and the ending left me happy and filled with warm fuzzies.
I was gifted an advance copy of this book by the author in exchange for a honest review.
HEART OF A LION !!! COMPLIMENTARY COPY RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR A HONEST REVIEW: Wow! Boss by Victoria Villeneuve is a completely captivating and wonderfully written romance filled to the brim with forbidden love, heartbreak, heated passion and sweet romance and most certainly, hope and redemption. If you're looking for an action pack, shoot 'em up adventure, then this isn't the book for you but if you're looking for an exceptional love story with taboo love, a journey for hope and sensitive yet well written subject matter, then this is definitely the book for you. The story is powerful, compelling, romantic, sensual, well developed, well organized and smartly written. The dialogue is intelligent, eloquent and flows beautifully. The characters are definitely the heart and the soul of this story. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging and relatable. Villeneuve brilliantly combines these elements into a tantalizing romance filled with conflict, bravery, heartache and young love. This is my first time reading Villeneuve's work but it definitely won't be my last! No spoilers from me but I will say this.....Handsome, cheeky, billionaire badboy who loves an adrenalin rush, dislikes his power-hungry family and falls deeply in love with his personal assistant, Tina Ressler Hunt, who also happens to be his gorgeous, curvy stepsister-check! Shy, intelligent young woman who falls in love with her boss, Kiegan Hunt, who incidentally happens to be her stepbrother, and is desperately trying to overcome a life shattering event, her past and make her own way in the world without help from her family-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, sweet forbidden love, heartbreaking angst, a non-supportive condescending family and surprising events to take down a well known family member with evil ambitions and aspirations for being President-you bet! That and a whole lot more! My favorite line of the book: 'Even though you don't think you're brave, I know there's something there, something that took courage, and I want to get to know the woman with the heart of a lion that she doesn't know she has.' So dreamy....Sigh.....This is a stand alone novel with NO cliffhangers and a wonderful happily ever after! I laughed, I cried, but at the end, I was totally happy and extremely entertained! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!!!
I received his book for an honest review. Tina grew up with little with a mom who worked a lot. Socially awkward she worked hard to get good grades in hopes of a better future. Imagine her surprise when her mom comes home and tells her she's getting married when she didn't even know her mom was dating anyone. Suddenly her life is turned upside down as her and her mom become enveloped into one of America's richest and most powerful family. Thrust into this new world including being sent to a new private school is hard enough add in an arrogant jerk of a step brother Kiegan who's determined to make her miserable and she's just hoping to survive. She succeeds until something so traumatic happens that all she wants is to get as far away from her new "family" as possible. But when her and Kiegan cross paths again will history repeat itself or can time change things? Overall this was a fun, hot, entertaining read that also addressed a serious issue of abuse in a positive way in that it emphasized that it's never too late to fight back and stand up for yourself. This is the second step sibling book I've read by this author and I enjoyed this one more than the first. Of the things I liked better was more dialogue from the male lead in the story I actually felt like I knew more about where Keigan was coming from and his motivations for his actions. I felt like I could connect with the characters better instead of just feeling like the only character I got to know was the female lead. I really liked Tina she's not perfect, has some insecurities but also has self-worth and stands up for herself. I really enjoyed the banter between Kiegan and Tina and how he knew how to push her buttons to get a rise and how much he enjoyed doing it. The parts that kept this from being a 4 or more star book for me was the flow of the story between sudden scene changes and editing issues (not formatting issues) it make the read a little awkward for me a times though not so distracting I couldn't enjoy the story or make me not want to finish the book. This is a standalone book with no cliffhanger.
This book was ok. It's the story between step-siblings Kiegan and Tina. Their parents married when they were in high school and Tina moved in with her mother in the Hunt household. There, she meets Kiegan, who she knows as the a** from her new school.
I didn't find the connection that every reader normally has for the characters they are reading. I honestly did not like how Kiegan and Tina are. Kiegan has always been an a** from the beginning, I didn't like the fact that Ms. Villeneuve didn't get in-depth as to why he is what he is, and Tina, he has hurt and humiliated her several times and next thing we know, she's in- love with him...seriously? I'm all for romance but come on, where's the conflict, the closure....
The story flowed too quick, too fast.. I mean, we meet both Kiegan and Tina when they are teenagers... and just like every teenager, they tease each other, or to better explain, he bullies her, makes her cry, annoys and angers her... Then suddenly, she leaves the Hunt family and moves far away and cuts all contact with them. Of course, we don't figure out why until the ending, but even that mystery wasn't properly built on... The suspense was lacking... Then, Kiegan suddenly finds her and they start to reconnect, and the first time they sleep together he admits he's been waiting for that moment for a long time... I mean, since when? There was no indication, no sign that he even had the hots for her... Sad to say their chemistry was nil... and we all know how important chemistry is in a romance...
Sigh... I really wanted to like this... I really did, it was just missing some things :(
**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** When Tina was 14, she found out her mother was marrying into the prestigious Hunt family. With that, she also inherited a step-brother, Kiegan, that's too hot to look at but a serious bully. As soon as she graduated high school, she left due to extenuating circumstances and never looked back. Two years later, she's jobless and struggling, but at least she's happy with her life. Then she finds out that Kiegan is in a new reality show and runs into him a few days later. He seems to have changed a little and wants her to become his personal assistant. For a huge amount of money, she decides to take him up on it. While he still bosses her around and gives her some ridiculous tasks, things aren't that bad. When he pulls a ridiculous stunt on her that happened on her birthday, she loses her temper and explodes at him. When she finds out he's just as hot for her, things take a much different turn. Overall, this was a pretty good book. It was a decent length and quick read. It had a full story to it. Tina was pretty likable and seems to enjoy her job. I didn't quite get why she wanted Kiegan so bad when he was being a jerk, but then again, I'm a bit older than she is and don't really remember instant attraction too well!! Kiegan's character starts to prove himself after an incident in a club. After that, we see a much different side of him as he shows her his feelings. Then his picking at her seem like something a young boy would have done to show a girl he likes her.
I have received an ARC copy of the book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
This story is about Tina Hunt. A girl, whose mum married a rich guy. Everything seemed perfect. New family, better life, better school and new prospects for a better college. Tina was nervous, but happy. Until she went to school and straight away she was picked on. A guy, who was the most handsome boy at school, was bullying her. She was devastated. What she didn't know, was the fact that her new tormentor is also her new step-brother. Few years past and Tina was able to mostly ignore Kiegan, until the night he revealed that he was the one that stole her Harvard application. Tina had enough and told him that. After this even we meet her when she is older, away from her family, poor and with no job. It's not explained straight away what happened, but I couldn't believe what horror she went through. And the worse? Her mothers reaction. But with help of Kiegan, who she meets after all those years, she is able to bring justice. But together with that an unexpected feelings are born and she finds herself falling for her step-brother, her tormentor.
I really liked this part and I would gladly give it 5 stars, but I didn't like the thoughts of Tina's when she was 14. She was way too young to have thought like that. But other than that, I enjoyed it!
Fast paced and edgy romance with a twist of revenge and more than one unacceptable behavior being exposed. I'm not one to agree on the teenage step children falling for each other is taboo, but there are some other definite no no's the characters have to work through. And now a bit about the story...
Tina is a great student and her life changes forever when her mother marries into the wealthy Hunt family. She transfers to an ivy league prep school from her high school and is set to go to Harvard until her sexy pain in the ass step brother sabotaged her application. Now she is living paycheck to paycheck surviving on ramen. That is until her step brother comes back into her life. Can she forgive him? Or will she continue to hate and want him at the same time...
Favorite passages: - Years and years of bullying all piled up in a rage I’d never experienced before, or since. I screamed and hurled myself at my brother, arms swinging, intending to do as much damage to him as was humanly possible. I wanted to kill him. No exaggeration, if I had been given a gun right then and there I knew I would have shot him. There was nothing more that I wanted on the planet. - I imagine most business textbooks don’t have “let your jaw drop to the floor when he suggests a number” as a good strategy in negotiations, but that was exactly what I did.
A stepbrother romance as the title states. Kiegan and Tina become family when their parents marry when they're 14/15 years old. Kiegan's family is rich and famous so they both go to a private school where Tina gets bullied by none other than her stepbrother for next few years of school. Just before high school grad Tina leaves and does not look back. When Kiegan and Tina finally meet again Kiegan doesn't know what caused Tina to leave. And, of course he is still an terror to her. A story of finding love between two people who were not friends but pretty much enemies, a story of redeeming yourself in the eyes of the person you hurt growing up. I just wish I had Kiegan's pov about why he was a bully to her. I get that he explained why he thought did but it was just not enough for me but it doesn't take away from the story. He pretty much ruins his family for his love for Tina and his baby sister after he finds out what happened with Tina and his family before she left. I really wanted to smack her mom and kick his dad in the family jewels for what they put her through!! All in all a good story.
This step-siblings love story started off pretty good by starting in present day and then reflecting back on events from the character's childhood to build the story. There were the love-hate feelings between the characters, and I thought it was going to be great. However, somewhere in the middle of the book, it was like the editor stopped editing. There were many grammatical errors, but even worse, there were continuity mishaps. Finally, when the love connection happened, it almost seemed gross because he had called her "sis" and had been a d-bag to her throughout the entire book. There was no flirtation or build up to indicate they were about to hook up....nothing! Then 3/4 of the way thru the book, the girl reveals her big secret and again, it was out of left field. There was no foreshadowing or any indication that events were about to happen. I'm not familiar with this author, so I don't know if the problems with this book are a result of an inexperienced author, or if it just needs to go through the editing and revising steps again. I think it is has the potential to be a good story, but it needs a lot of work!
I also got this book by Victoria Villeneuve for an honest review and even though I liked the other story better, this one was still good. http://thesecretworldofbooklovers.blo... Kiegan is not a good guy from what we can tell at the beginning he is mean and rude and we hate him from the first time he shows up.
But what was it they used to tell us when we were younger? If he picks on you, its because he likes you, boys are stupid like that, and oh boy they were right !
The heat they rise once they decide to give it a go was HOT, the first intimate scene is one NOT to miss and made it worth the read.
Tina was a character I didn't like, it was hard to relate with her when she was crushing hard on the guy that ruined her life, yeah, we are dumb sometimes but she was the queen of dumbsville.
She kept going on and on about how he was the person she hated the most and then in a second, with a kiss and a magic pleasure equipment she is swooning.
The story was good and entertaining and the sex scenes were definitely the best part of the book.
What I didn't like that much was the love at first bang after years of hate and resentment, but except from that, it was a fun book.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This is an awesome read. This story brings us through a young girls' life, starting as a young teenager of 14 up to her early 20's, and how it all changed from being borderline poor and only her and her mother, to mom marrying the rich guy, creating a new "family" for them. So much can happen in 7 years, and as we get to know Tina and Kiegan, and their stories, we can't help but fall in love with them both. Victoria Villeneuve has managed to take us through very painful experiences, yet give us hope that anything can be conquered if we truly want. All we need is someone to believe in us, and a lot of love. The plot of this book is well thought out and executed perfectly. The characters are strong, taking their strength from their hurt and lack of confidence, only to rise above the "brick walls" erected in their paths of life. This is a standalone book, and very much worth the read. I loved it. Well done!
Tina has fled the family she grew up in leaving her mother behind. Kiegan has also left the family but they meet up again in Seattle after two years. She starts working for him.
I liked the story. The flashback is predictable but the present and future are wide open. I liked that Kiegan is not staid, living for the family name. I also like that Tina gives back as good as she gets from him this time. I also enjoyed the two of them working together, coming up with a solution to Tina's past. The ending was not predictable at all. I liked it and would like to see where Tina and Kiegan go from there.
Kiegan is a jerk. Tina is a typical poor teenager placed in new circumstances where she is afraid. I rooted for her from the beginning. Kiegan grew on me but I would have liked to smack him upside his head sometimes. Their parents cared more about the family name and reputation than they did their children. How sad! Tina and Kiegan were interesting characters.
I don't think I liked this book as much as I should, I think it all happened too fast. In the beggining I was starting to get into Tina's mind, but then everything happened like a car crash, fast as f*ck. I coudn't really get into the character after that. I liked Tina, she isn't one of those weak girls nor the "I don't care" badass, she is strong and yet so young, I admire her courage. About Kiegan, he's a little mean with her at first and then he becomes some sort of savior, but hey, that's kind of classic, right? I dig it. Anyway, to make this short: I really wish things moved a little slower, it could've been a 4 stars book, heck, I could've been a 5 star book. It had a good plot, but the characters weren't explored as much they should, I mean, they both had a tragery in their past, but It wasn't that explored, It was kinda shallow. I know I am repeating myself, but it's the only way I can describe it - Too fast. Still, is a ok book, this couple is worth a shot.
This was a great story. It's a full length book. The characters were well developed and had growth. The author did a great job with development. I would read this book again as well as other works by her. Overview. Tina came home one day and her mom told her that she was going to get married and she was going to get a new step brother. At 14/15, they were not close. He picked on her at their new prep school. Tina was put into a bad spot at 17, and when her mom didn't believe her, she got up and left. Tina moved to Seattle and worked a min wage job, but it was better than being in the Hunt family. She runs into her step brother Keigan at the space needle. He follows her and offers her a job of the life time to be his personal assistance. She takes it, but scared he is going to give her hell all the time. But soon finds that he has changed and they build a good bond. Both HATE the Hunt family.
DNF.. I wanted to punch Tina in the face. No matter how Kiegan was mean n nasty she still wanted to rip his clothes off.
Thats all she ever thinks about: How Hot and Sexy her brother is.. How they can't be together cos they brother&sister.. After their quickie she tells him "Its a mistake" cos they brother&sister.. arghhhhh like I said before, I wanted to punch her in the face..Tina is annoying as f***... I roll my eyes so many times I felt like my eyeballs might be stuck like that forever.
The author points out in nearly every page how taboo it was for them to be together cos they BROTHER & SISTER argghhh It was wayyy OTT.
I'm sick and tired of reading about these horny h. I need me some tough n sassy h who doesn't think about sex all the time but they can handle their shit.
Tina's mother marries a rich man. Her life changes overnight, and when she realizes that her bully at the exclusive school she is attending is her new stepbrother, she decides to have as little to do with him as possible. A few years later she is unemployed and broke, and Kiegan is a rich, famous reality star. Tina goes to work for Kiegan and before long they are in very physical relationship. Tina will have to confess her reason for leaving the home they grew up in in order to save someone else. Wow, I loved this book, it has lots of family drama and even addresses a difficult subject. I found the characters engaging and believable.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
She starts working for him and that is all it needs to be said. Office romance.
Kiegan is a jerk but sexy as hell Boss. Kiegan grew on me but Boy did he gets on my nerves. Asshat if you ask me. Also, Kiegan left the family but they meet up again in Seattle after two years later.
Tina is a typical poor teenager placed in new circumstances where she is afraid. Her mother married a rich husband and she decided leaving her mother behind. Their parents cared more about the family name and reputation than they did their children.Tina and Kiegan were interesting characters.
There's a tactful way to write stories like this and this book is a prime example of what not to do. It's just weird, you're related by marriage, whatever, but to keep calling her little sis even after sleeping together? Gross, the entire thing needs to be edited and the writing wasn't that great. There was no real chemistry or depth to the characters and it made the entire story forgettable. It took me two hours to read, two hours I will never get back. I could have spent that time doing other equally enjoyable things, like diving in front of a moving bus, drinking lukewarm coffee....being chased by a rabid coyote over hot coals.....maybe even laundry. Would not recommend.
The actual plot of this novel was pretty good - daredevil stepbrother, super smart stepsister, and family shenanigans.
Told from Tina's POV, the author took the time to give to us the background to Tina's relationship with Kiegan and then their meeting a couple of years after Tina runs away.
However, I'm sorry to say that, for me, the hero lacked depth. Apart from the fact that he constantly teased her and pulled pranks, we didn't really know what he felt for her, unless he actually said the words. He came across as mainly superficial and lacked deeper emotion. Shame, really, as it would have really added another more passionate dimension to the whole story.
I received this ARC for an honest review. Boss: Step brother Billionaire was a great read. The story of Tina and Kiegan was explosive when it came to getting along and falling in love. The writing was amazing it pulled you into the story and kept you feeling involved in their lives. The characters were perfectly described in this story and you could easily visualize everything.
There were a few twists and turns I didn't see coming. I definitely recommend this book, it's one of the best step brother books I've read.
